LP6
So in all reality... where do we think they are at with lp6? Are they still in the "we have been in the studio for the last year playing around with ideas" stage or are they actually recording the album at this point... Anyone who has followed past album productions knows they can change direction two or three times before they decide on a tone / theme and move forward. Things have been very quiet this time around... makes me wonder if things still are in the experiment demo stage or if they are laying low this time around.

Should Coldplay release LP6 without a single?
I think they are big enough to do it and have it work. You also gotta think that the industry suits are looking at these Bowie and Beyonce situations and saying to themselves, "hmmm. so we don't have to spend 4 months and a ton of cash to promote a major album release... we can just drop it out of nowhere one day and it will still make big bucks? Sounds good to me."

Coldplay nominated for 2 Grammy Awards (best song written for visual media/best music film)
Song Written for Visual Media "Atlas," Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion & Chris Martin, songwriters (Coldplay). "Silver Lining," Diane Warren, songwriter (Jessie J) "Skyfall," Adele Adkins & Paul Epworth, songwriters (Adele) "We Both Know," Colbie Caillat & Gavin DeGraw, songwriters (Colbie Caillat, ft Gavin DeGraw) "Young and Beautiful," Lana Del Rey & Rick Nowels, songwriters (Lana Del Rey) "You’ve Got Time," Regina Spektor, songwriter (Regina Spektor) Music Film "Live 2012," Coldplay "Cuatro!" Green Day" "I'm In I'm Out and I'm Gone: The Making of Get Up!" Ben Harper With Charlie Musselwhite "Live Kisses," Paul McCartney "The Road To Red Rocks," Mumford & Sons I could see them giving it to Adele... they love Adele. Or maybe even Lana Del Rey... but the Hunger Games is the biggest movie on that list right now (skyfall is over a year old) so maybe the exposure will push Coldplay over the top. as far as music film i think they have a really good chance of winning that one (xylobands!) unles they still want to show some leftover 2012 Mumford love or give it to Paul McCartney because he is Paul McCartney.

Top 10 Coldplay songs - thecelebritycafe.com
"Not much is known about the plans for Coldplay in 2014 but if the plans include anything like 2013, fans will not be disappointed." Considering I am expecting a new album and the start of a new tour in 2014 - neither of which happened in 2013 - I'd be pretty disappointed...

LP6
So it sounds like they are keeping it "in the family" for this album. Produced by Coldplay, Dan Green and Rik Simpson... sounds good to me. Also IMHO I think that in the year 2014 U2's record label has more to worry about releasing a new album close to Coldplay's new album then the other way around... at this point I don't think Coldplay has to be intimidated by anyone release wise. Not that it should matter because you know... people CAN buy more then one album in a month!

oh my lp six if only you were seven then instead of STYX i could rhyme your name with heaven the place i hope you sound like though STYX is not that bad just not for a Coldplay album unless I was my dad

Arcade Fire
I wonder what became of this song... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlNVWPMVDLs]Arcade Fire - Reflektor advert - YouTube[/ame] Odd that they would use it for an ad for the album and then it not be on there... Not that I'm complaining. LOVING Reflektor as it is but just wanted to point this out.

Arctic Monkeys!
Arctic Monkeys doomed to the FOURTH page during the week of an amazing new album release!?! Time to get these guys back on the first page where they belong... show 'em some love! ... For real though AM is pretty sweet. I'm not even what you would call a die hard fan but this album has won me over in a big way. I have the other four albums but don't listen to them often... this one though I think will have some staying power.

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
I've gone from Atlas to Reflektor to the new Arctic Monkeys album (no. 1 party anthem) and onto the new Killers next week and the new Kings of Leon a week after that. Its been a good few weeks for my tunes man!

Arcade Fire
I am loving this song but I can't help of being reminded of PARTS of this song: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MwNMv2wbe8]Inner City Pressure - Flight of the Conchords - YouTube[/ame] I couldn't put my finger on it at first but the "just a reflektor/(reflection?)" part sounds a lot like the "inner city pressure" robot voice to me! Not pretending that this is some huge find or anything it just made me laugh...

Rate Atlas - and post your review
Coldplay: Atlas I will start with a rather bold statement: in my opinion from 2:30 onward is as good as anything this band has ever done. I agree with others who have said that on first listen the verses may seem a little lacking (although I do find the vocal phrasing interesting in the way that Chris puts the emphasis on the verbs in the middle of the line as opposed to the nouns at the end- the last word of each line is very sudden, almost sharp in contrast to the rest of the delivery) but the piano throughout the verses and that killer chorus are enough to pull it off in a big way. Extra points for even more fantastic guitar work from Jonny in the song‘s final moments. Attention rest of world: can this man please start getting the recognition he deserves! This does sound like the perfect soundtrack song and in that capacity it works brilliantly. While listening to it I caught myself thinking how great the carry your world part would be in romantic or dramatic movies and had to remind myself that it was made for a movie. More importantly though I also feel that this song will stand alongside the rest of the band's catalogue very well and will not be remembered as just that song that was on that one soundtrack - the way a lesser effort might have been. This is definitely not a reworked studio leftover or a throwaway track by a band looking to cash in - this is the new Coldplay single that just happens to be off of a soundtrack. As with everything they do - they went for it. You know that they were thinking that if they were going to make a soundtrack song then why not try to make the best soundtrack song of all time. Did they succeed? Perhaps not but they did manage to produce one hell of a Coldplay song. Plus can you imagine hearing this closing out a concert a year from now with thousands of fans singing I’ll carry your world in unison. Watch out Fix You chorus - you just might have some competition. With such a diverse mix of all the elements the band has given us before hardcore fans should love it and if the general public just gives it to that epic chorus we might have another hit on our hands. Being a part of a huge movie franchise won’t hurt but I still can’t help but think that this song is good enough not to have to depend on that association alone. To my ears this is the sound of a band not only claiming new fans but maybe even reclaiming some old ones who may have slipped away. If this is any indication of where they are at going into the next album I think we are all in for a real treat. Some bands would be lucky to get on a high profile release like the Hunger Games Soundtrack. In this case The Hunger Games Soundtrack is lucky to get a high profile band like Coldplay… and boy did they deliver. 8/10

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
I understand that the internet age has spoiled us all into knowing everything there is to know about something weeks or even months before it actually comes out so that it seems strange when we don't have that information but the lack of any kind of promotion or news while four days away from one of the biggest bands in the world realasing the first single of off the soundtrack to one of the most aticipated movies of the year still seems very odd to me.

LP6 Excitement! (it's prediction time)
01) 22 but 11 of them will be 30 second into tracks just because Chris loves making titles. Car Kids will be a hidden track. Not on LP6 though. They will hide it on Rihanna's new album just to really %#$@ with the fans. 02) 85 minutes! The band will rebel and tear down the Eno rules. Jonny, being clever, will add an "h" into the word "Eno" making it "Eh... no" but Will will claim credit for the move to whoever will listen. 03) Coldtember. LP6 will be such a huge event that a new month will be created just for its release and only for the year 2014. To avoid ongoing confusion no children will be allowed to be born that month. Those that are will become the property of Universal Music. 04) They will each dress as different colored robots. Chris - Red, Jonny - Blue, Will - Green, Guy - Black, and Phil - Yellow. For the encore of each show they will join together to form the mighty Coldtronix 3000 for a MechaRock blow out that will melt your mind! You thought xylobands were cool? You aint seen shit boooooooooy! 05) Well Coldtronix 3000 will play mind melting MechaRock of course but the album will be a mix of hillbilly banjo music played over dreamy sythns that they will call chillbilly... or hillwave by the hipsters. Yes, LP6 will win over even the most hardcore hipsters after earning Pitchfork's first ever 11/10.
