  1. I don't think the "name" should be associated with any one era alone so coldplayer works perfectly as a representation of all eras. after all no one was calling themselves spies or scientists or messengers or lovers back in all the other eras. At least I don’t think they were!

  3. High Violet had made me interested in the band. Trouble Will Find Me has made me a fan. A little late to the party... maybe, but as they say, better late then never.
  4. It could be that the intention was to save some of the stronger songs that did not quite fit into the concept of MX for the next album - as is sometimes the case - although I am sure that by the time the sixth album is ready those leftover songs will all have been replaced by newer songs that they are more excited about. I remember way back after AROBTTH came out reading an article where one of the band (Chris mabye?) made mention of a disk/file of such leftover songs marked "save for #3" that was set aside for future use. You have to wonder how many, if any, of those songs made it onto what became X&Y.
  5. Is there any word on a US release date for this album? I can't seem to find that info on the band's official site.
  6. I thought you were already in hibernation while waiting for the new Arcade Fire album.
  7. It's him doing a cover of the Extras theme song which is Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHlo_N34vuo]Tea for the Tillerman - Cat Stevens - YouTube[/ame]

  10. I was mostly just kidding and paraphrasing a comment that Chris made before X&Y came out... that it was part oldplay and part boldplay. I would like more of a Viva sound then an MX sound though... that much I will say.
  11. I kinda hope the next one is a little more oldplay and a little less boldplay...
  12. I thought the same thing when i went to my Target because there wasn't anything in the new release section but then I found three of them over in the regular cd aisle if that makes any sense.
  13. Really enjoying looking through the booklet as well. I know a lot of it has been seen before in the tour guide and special edition book but not having those a lot of it is new to me. A line of lyrics from what was once AHT "guide me stranger, sheperd me through" which I thought were nice... my favorite line is one that says "I told my therapist everything and now hes doing my act" which i think might be a quote from somewhere. Lots of characters names in there and of course Car Kids is on three pages. Nice to see that Rik Simpson mixed it and also interesting to see that Phil Harvey gets a credit as the "Director" of the live shows. Also special thanks to Dave the Cat. Walking through the store I had the sad feeling that this may be the last new Coldplay release I buy for quite a while...
  14. It’s entirely possible that they are recording demos for LP6 but at this point I don’t think that is the case. If they wanted to record demos why not just wait until they get home and head into the bakery? Instead they were in an Australian studio working during an already busy time which makes me wonder if they are nearing a deadline for something. I also question if Jon Hopkins would be there during the demo stage as well but I could easily see him adding some more “light and magic” to already existing songs. Does this mean a new EP... maybe, maybe not. Having said all that it could very well be that Jon was working on his own album and some of the guys were there to feature on one of his tracks or maybe even just visiting while they were in town.
  15. Nothing really to add to this other then my respect for a very intelligent and insightful comment. An increasingly rare thing on the internet these days...
  16. Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the chart eligibility of a release such as this one is? A stand alone live album I’m sure would be able to chart but do the same rules apply for a CD/DVD combo?

I'm sure that everything is ok and it just has something to do with the logistics of the Latin American tour dates. Maybe something had to be reworked in the planning or perhaps it was something of a financial or contractual nature. If something was seriously wrong with one of the members of the band or there were problems in the band itself I would think that the three US tour dates including New Years Eve would have also been cancelled.
  18. All kidding aside, Simon Pegg (as great as he is) has had very little to do with the actual production of any of the band's work. A vocal on 1:36 is his only credit if i'm not mistaken. An apperance in the Christmas Lights video and a few times on stage at most. Who do you really think has made the strongest behind the scenes contribution album wise?
  19. One of my favorite parts of Live 2012 was getting to see all of the behind the scenes people who have been working hard for years to help get the band to where they are today. We all know that Phil Harvey is without a doubt the official fifth member of the band so that got me thinking... who would you vote for for Coldplay's "Sixth Man" award?

Plus Roadie #42 said in his blog that they were planning on going to studio while in Oz, so it's either for a quick polishing for songs that have already been recorded and possibly mixed, or a re-recording of a song. My hunch is that an EP is NOT IMPOSSIBLE anymore. It would be illogical (by Coldplay's standards) to record something now and then go on a long break, when they'll start afresh anyway? I beileve that the intimate gig in Sydney is going to be played on a small stage outside the Opera House. At least they are showing pictures of the stage being built in the threads for these shows in the Live section of the forum.
  21. I saw him (and loved the part of the film dedicated to him!) but i thought i saw someone else after him - maybe it was just a thank you to all the fans because it showed a shot of a fan after - i will just have to wait and see when i get the dvd!
  22. Just got home from seeing it. Amazing. My girlfriend and I were the only ones in the theatre so it was like we were having our own private screening! Who was it that they thanked right after the band's names but before the credits?
  23. It's interesting thats for sure. what stands out the most for me is that he mentions that the band might get a little studio time in on the days they have off. you would think that anything done outside of the bakery or beehive would be mixing or at the most finishing touches. Is it just a coincidence that R42 mentions unreleased Mylo tracks and studio time in the same post… maybe, maybe not. If they are working on old Mylo songs i hope they don't change them too much... I would rather hear them they way they were recorded during the original sessions.
  24. how many times has this happened to you... you go onto the world of music section and what do you see... right there on top of the page it is the thread dedicated to one of your favorite bands! what can it be??? this thread has not made it to the front page in years... it's been stuck in the dead zone that is page two or even worse... page three or four! but here it is now on the first page - the top no less! it has to be HUGE news for a bump like this! a tour! a dvd! that new album you've been waiting for! so you click on it with eager anticipation scroll down through posts from three years ago and what do you see... random coldplayer: "I love this band!" the dissapointment! the frustration! you wave your fist at your screen and curse random coldplayer... "how dare you get me all excited for nothing!?" and then you weep... Don't be a Bump Tease!
  25. now if we could just get all four members to cameo as zombies on the walking dead! if only somebody in the band knew someone with hollywood connections...
