I am just going to assume that to drive us even more crazy they are going to announce the name of LP8 three or four years in advance... and you thought waiting a year for AHFOD was hard!

I think that AHFOD still has every chance of a debut at number One. Now 99.9999% of the time I wouldn’t care what chart position an album peaks or debuts at, being that I don’t need an artistic work I enjoy to be commercially successful to validate my appreciation of it, but with Coldplay it has always been different. They have given me so much joy over the years that I can’t help but wish them all of the positive attention, success, and glory they deserve even though I know those are not the reasons they are making music in the first place. The same goes for reviews. I don’t need an album I love to get good reviews in order for me to feel justified in loving it but they are still nice to see. Having said all that AHFOD could debut at number 1 or at number 85 and I’m still going to love it all the same but with such a historic record on the line I can’t help but root for some chart dominance a little more this time around. If I was ever for any team I’m for team Coldplay.

This will be my 5th album lead up here on coldplaying and I can honestly say that I have not had as good a feeling as I do right now about a pending album since Viva. That clip of the new song has me feeling the way I did back in '08 when they put out LiT before Viva and everyone went nuts. It just seems so fresh and exciting and i really think we are in for something special. My post count won't show it but I visit this site almost every day even in the down times and it is nights like this that will always keep me heading back. I'm looking forward hearing another debut single with my fellow coldplayers!

Could you elaborate on this a little more? Is that record first seven albums to peak at number one or first seven albums to debut at number one?

My guess.... they were not expecting lunatic Coldplay fans like us to be at their store at 8 in the morning looking to buy it already. They guy at my Target was putting them on the shelf as I walked up. He kind of looked at me like who is this guy buying a cd at 8:00 in the morning on a monday... ...never underestimate coldplayers target!

Yup. As matter of fact that was the only version my Target had. They didn't have the regular edition at all.

A few things that I have noticed over the years about Coldplay reviews… 01) It almost seems like some critics are afraid to give a Coldplay album too good of a review as if it will hurt their credibility in some a way. A lot of the time the review itself is way more positive then the rating they give it indicates. More then once I have read what seems like a glowing review only to get to the bottom and see they gave the record an average three out of five stars. 02) Critics always seem to want the exact opposite of what the current album is. All I read in the MX reviews was that they wanted the band to return to the low key sounds of the Parachutes era and now that they have I’m reading a lot of critics saying they are missing the bombast of the previous album. The real interesting thing is that it almost seems like this makes them like the previous album more then they did before in contrast. 03) I don’t care too much about what critics say…

I was just there and got my copy. It was on sale for $10.99 and they had plenty. Now go get one!

I only noticed because your posts over there are always so supportive of Coldplay unlike a lot of other posters I've seen on U2 boards who only seem to have a Coldplay section to talk $%!# about them. Actually @U2 isn't that bad as far as that goes. Interference on the other hand... oh boy!

People telling other people who like the song that they are sheep who will like anything? Check! People telling people who don’t like the song that they need to move on from Parachutes? Check! People voicing what it means to be the mythical “true” fan and in turn judging those with an opposite opinion as “untrue” fans? Check! A few poor souls trying to be a voice of reason and tell everyone that it is just one song? Check! People using heavy amounts of sarcasm to voice their opinion on other’s opinions of the song? Check! Other people not recognizing that sarcasm and blasting the sarcastic poster even though they actually agree with what they are saying? Check! People asking where Will and Guy are on the song? Check Someone saying to listen to one song and listen to this implying that the first song is better? Check! Someone making a plea to the band to return to their old ways? Check! Someone keeping faith that the live version will be better? Check! Someone telling people that if they listen to it more they will learn to like it? Check Someone telling the band Coldplay that they are not the band Coldplay anymore just in case the band Coldplay was under some confusion that they still are actually the band Coldplay? Check! Someone asking for a new official EP super deluxe acoustic version of a song that was just released 15 minutes ago? Check! Some smart ass (that’s me!) making a post referencing how this happens every time Coldplay release a new single? Check! I think we got 'em all... Good Work Guys!!!

Maybe they are announcing the NBC special. And if that is the case maybe they will do so with a trailer. And if that is the case maybe we will hear a little bit of new music in that trailer. And if that is the case maybe aliens will also hear that new music and get so excited that they finally land on earth. And if that is the case maybe one of those aliens will become my new best friend. And if that is the case next Monday is gonna be awesome!

So I wonder if O (Fly On) is just the full title or if the Fly On part is a second song? Does anyone who went remember if this sounded like two songs?

It all makes sense now! That's not an "O" it's the Target logo! Part of the exclusive deal with Target was that they had to include the Target logo in the traklisting. The song titles are actually Target Logo and Target Logo (Part Two)!

It seems odd to me that a band that has been so obsessed with creating albums as a complete artistic experience would just tack three random songs on to the end of a record. As someone has already mentioned I am sure this is more of a business decision than a creative one. Having said that count me among those who are expecting something along the lines of live, acoustic, or even remix tracks. If there are songs that did not make the record but are still of a high enough quality to be released I have a hard time believing it would be on something as limited as this. As far as Ghost Stories as a possible song is concerned I would have to think that would be a hidden track on the album proper. I can't see the oracle refrencing something in regards to the album that would be available to only a portion of the fan base.

RE possible LA recording sessions: with the exeption of laying down demos at various studios while on tour has the band ever spent an extended period of time recording away from home? I know in the past Chris has been in NY for mixing or what not... I know they love to keep things in house and work with a close group of people they have used for years (which I love and hope they continue so I can contniue to geek out over the names in the credits). Seems like a lot of people to take to LA with them but then again they all go on tour for months on end so it wouldnt be that unusual.
