[3-July-2011] Coldplay @ Main Square Festival, Arras, France
I see. At Rock am Ring that's the place where I often stand, maybe a little more to the front. There you can always go to a more calm area (or your friends can).

But you'll have to protect me if they head out in masses! They have swords!

I actually think front row is even more save than a few rows behind. Taking festival shows in brackets, I'd say Coldplay fans are not pushing so much. Moreover, if people are pushing, they usually push in a broader are, not only the first 5 rows. And then it's much better to have the barrier right in front of you which makes you stand in a stable position. What's more is that you get carried out easier, in case you can't make it any longer. Sometimes, at heavier conerts with hard moshing etc, I go a little more to the front because there you are crushed but you also stand in a more stable position. Plus, front row, more to the side usually is quite relaxed. It gets worse when you're right in the middle.

I think it was a great performance. But it was one of their weaker ones. At least judging by the nine I''ve been to. I especially enjoyed the beginning of the set and the new songs, which I knew better this time than at Rock am Ring (obviously...). Escpecially Charlie Brown really grew on me and became one of my most favourite Coldplay songs. I felt a little disconnected, I have to admit. One thing this might have been due to was the little interaction, another factor were the cameras. Not only did the cameras blocked the sight for I think several people, but also they increased the distance between the crowd and the band, or Chris at leat, who stuck to the middle of the crowd, rather than going to its front more often. But then again, there were even stairs he could have used. Anyway, I felt a little disconnected, though I still think they did a great job. What disappointed me a little was that they didn't play Shiver, though I also love Cemetries Of London. But since I never got to hear Shiver live... However, it was awesome to hear Everything's not lost again. A main part of the experience was the amount of huge Coldplay fans. They made a fantastic crowd, at least at the front. I also had a great time with the ones I was standing with =) I think the banner looked fantastic and we should definitely use it again! It was some great teamwork =) My personal highlight were Portishead because of the stunning itensitiy of their performance. I expected a little more from PJ Harvey but Elbow were great as well. Also, Bruno Mars was better than I expected, his annoying radio songs were less annoying than on the radio but I still wouldn't by a CD, since I still think most of his songs are dull. I liked his version of Micheal Jackson's "Dirty Diana", though. All in all, it was worth it, I enjoyed it and I had a great time. I now look forward to their own shows. Festival shows can be great as well (Rock am Ring was awesome!) but doing all the hardcore fan things, escpecially when you're only coming for one day, regular concerts are better.

Zone française
Well, the Capri Suns after the gig, when you were sitting, obviously helped a little ;-)

Major Minus: Studio v Live?
There are a few songs I first heard live and it never that such a big effect on me. I also heard Teardrop only once with an iphone (no headphones => bad quality) before I heard it live. And even though I have a slight preference for Teardrop's live version, I wouldn't have made such a big deal about it.

Just ordered the spray cans.

Rate 'Major Minus' now!
Well, like I said in the comparison of versions thread: I don't like the production. More Eno trademarks than Coldplay trademarks which is not a producer's job. Live: 10/10 Studio: don't know yet. 6/10 and that would be one my worst Coldplay ratings. It might grow a little. It's just such a pity because it's such a fantastic song, actually. I think musicians should stick more to what they'd like to do live. They could easily make it sound more like the studio version on their gigs but they don't seem to want to. And I'm glad about it.

Major Minus: Studio v Live?
Why do they even produce such a version when they don't want to play it live this way? The vocals are distorted way too much (not that there'd be any need to distort it...). They are also a little distorted on Teardrop and I'd also prefer Teardrop's live version but with MM it's a difference of day and nigth for me. It's hard to recognize Chris' voice here though it always gives a song a special extra mark. Also, I really loved Jonny's part right before the 2nd verse. This marked a point where I was very happy about his guitar work on the news songs and hoped it would stay this way on the album. The live version of Major Minus completely kicked me, this one can't really get me. Coldplay's trademarks are hardly heard. You hear more Brian Eno(/U2) than Coldplay on this one and that's not a producer's job! I thought X&Y was a little overdone productionwise on some songs but now I'm a little afraid of the LP5 production...

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall / Major Minus / Moving To Mars - CD, vinyl and digital release
That's my guess too

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall / Major Minus / Moving To Mars - CD, vinyl and digital release
1st one could be, don't know and don't really care about it. At least it wasn't released here. And the 2nd one doesn't count for me because you could also buy the Prospekt's March EP alone. That really was well done. The only thing that's a bit annoying is that they released the single as a 1-song download and then releasing it with all the extra stuff. But then again it's only 1 € I paid and I'm quite happy to get a physical copy now.

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall / Major Minus / Moving To Mars - CD, vinyl and digital release
A physicle release, especially such a bundle and a coloured Vinyl is pretty awesome!!! Very happy about it =) A digital itunes only bundle with additional songs... alright, I'd rather have it on physical formats and if that's not possible, I'd rather buy it somewhere else, but I'm ok with that. Might be my first itunes purchase... A digital bundle such as this one announced weeks after most of the die-hards had already bought a digital version appears bold. Even if you can upgrade on itunes, I'd have to buy the complete bundle because I avoid itunes and therefore bought it somewhere else. I'm a convinced purchaser of music. But I don't like that to be exploited. To be fair, at least Coldplay never released a "Tour edition/Extra edition/Remastered only one year after release edition/..." of an album. And I sincerely hope they're not drifting into that direction. Because I'm not willing to waste my money.

So does this mean Major Minus wont be on the album?!
Could also be a double A-Side

You're right, your suggestions are even better =) Actually I found that website because of an ad on the board... Gonna work out the ordering in the next couple of days. Would be great if anyone else could bring something to spray on (SueDeN?). And you seriously don't want ME to spray on it ;) :D

http://www.stylefile.de/molotow-premium-spruehdose-fid-8508.html I know most of you don't speak German but you can have a look at the colours. I could order everything there but obviously I don't want to pay the full 30 € (shipping included). On the other hand this might be useful for the whole tour and we could pass it on. I'd suggest the following ones: 12 31 41(/33?) 65 85 130 signalschwarz transparent or 180

Great idea. I could also bring some cans.

Ok, let's try to come up with some ideas, even if they're stupid. Maybe a line referring to a new song? Something like: You turn the music up and our heaven is in sight http://www.coldplaying.com We could try to spray something graffiti-like on it, maybe a UFO, MX,... @ Mimixxx: Just realised you're coming too :cool3:

Which is your favourite new Coldplay song?
I just can't f###ing decide. I love them all! ETIAW probably a little less than the others, though I reaaally like it.

New merchandising
This looks like "Uhm... do we have new shirts for next week? - Oh shit, no... - Well, give me 5 minutes"
-
New merchandising
Official! They sold them at Rock am Ring at the official Bands merch (yes, they only sell official stuff at that certain place). This was everything they sold. I wouldn't take pics and open a thread if they weren't official. Edit: Plus, unofficial ones wouldn't be 30/35 € ;-)
-
New merchandising
Think that hasn't been posted before Note: The one with the X is NOT a Coldplay shirt. The right shirt is longsleeve. Thought they were quite dull for 30/35 €... And sorry for the low quality. Had to take the pic with an old mobile.

I also suggested this one. But people didn't seem convinced. I still think this could be the title
