ebay is good depending on you're shopping for, i guess. any music-related item you find is probably going to cost you more than it's worth, no matter what. or at least that's been my experience when shopping for rare radiohead ep's and whatnot.

actually, i use nothing but public transportation, but i live smack in the middle of the 5th biggest city in the country, so it's an option for me. i think here in america people are generally much too spread out for mass transit to be economically viable for the people who would have to run it, unless, as i said, you're in a densely populated urban area. that's my take on that. *shrugs*
