Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Tomorrow is the picnic :) I've messaged Anna with my best recommendation of the venue - it's a short walk north-east from Hampstead tube station. Perhaps they'll choose another place? Anywhere a little near a supermarket will be fine, and lots of fun I'm sure :sunny: So, I'll let the ladies choose the place and post it here, and I hope to see everyone there :)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Thanks so much Anna, glad you enjoyed yesterday  Aw, no, it's just the difference between American and British pronunciation...in the US it's right (and you are right, of course, it's your name!! :)) You got me thinking last night about who we have on the front of all our coins, and I couldn't work it out. Then I realised every single one of them's the Queen (duh!) so...who's the idiot here?! :P I also realised I don't know who's on the back of all our notes...:embarrassed: Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so happy you enjoyed it, it was my great pleasure to welcome you all here  I can't wait to see all the pictures :)

A thread for Old Friends in a Telescope Lens Happy Bday Ren and Lore
I'm so glad I clicked on this thread, it's very rare now since Lore and Ren left that I bother with much on here outside the Coldplay section and the few threads I'm directly involved in...I think this thread should have had Lore and Ren in the title. They won't read this here, but I'm sure they'll be told that we still think of them all the time and miss them so much  Happy Birthday dear friends, here's to you!! So very well said!! :nice:

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Aw, she avoided my attempts to get her wet  But, there is still a chance at the picnic!! :D Six of the ladies visited the countryside of Kent today, and I had a lovely time, I hope they enjoyed it too. It was less exciting and hectic than London, but perhaps a much more relaxing day, with a different perspective on England. We saw the smallest castle and paddled in perhaps the smallest river in England, and then ate lunch in a nice old restaurant (an old coaching inn dating back to the 15th century: http://www.thehornsotford.co.uk/). During the lunch some members realised that romance was blossoming at the other end of the table. Not only outrageous flirting, but they were playing with each other's feet under the table! Scandalous behaviour in such a reputable establishment! :P Anyway, it seems love may be in the air...watch this space! Locally-made whisky ice cream was the revelation of the meal - I'll be back as soon as possible for more of that, yum :) After that it was time to take everyone to the park and to see (what I think is) the largest house in England: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-knole Ice creams were had, and we relaxed, chatted and laughed (Carrie - not Kerry, though it's pronounced like that in British English - and Anna had me crying with laughter at one point) under a large tree as deer roamed around us (some of them as frisky as the two members in the restaurant :P). Lots of photos were taken, but none by me, so we will have to wait for the other members to be able to post some (it's very difficult for them at their hostel unfortunately). Highlights of the day: We didn't get arrested when Natascha was shouting that the village policemen looked 'stupid'! (For Nancy) not being pushed in the pond by moi. Whisky ice cream and the discovery of a possible new romance in the restaurant :P We think Nancy drank five pints but was only charged for one (Nancy denies this!) :laugh3: Natascha shepherding the herd of deer around the park We thought we might see a ghost, we thought we might see a ghost, we didn't tread in deer poop but we made it close... Anna climbing pretty high up a tree in seconds (I couldn't myself of course because I had sandals on and am scared of trees :P) The singalongs in the car  Anna has a really lovely voice, Sofia and everyone else did great jobs, and Frida made a very special effort for Postcards from Far Away :) Trivia of the day It's Roosevelt on the US dime So, although not particularly exciting for the other members maybe, I hope a very relaxing and interesting day for everybody - I certainly enjoyed myself a lot :)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
And duck ponds :inquisitive: :laugh3: But not as good as the ones in Kent. I find revenge a dish served best at pond-temperature :sneaky: :P Yes, we wish everyone could be here with us too :nice:

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
I have no idea about other hostels in Swiss Cottage, but the one Anna chose seemed really cool to me :) Only me so far. There are two possible reactions to that: 1) :( 2)  :laugh3: (It's probably a mix of the two for me! :P) :) I'm thinking of a 1pm start. Some of the ladies may be a bit later than that, but a few people want to start early, and that's fine by me. The location planning so far is ideally a spot on Hampstead Heath which is fairly close to shops and Tube (both essential). It's not too far from the ladies' hostel/hotel, and also from the Bakery/Beehive. But I don't have enough local knowledge to have identified the best location yet. Any and all ideas are welcome (including alternative parks if they meet the criteria!) I'd like to fix a spot by tomorrow night if possible, so we can throw a map up on here for anyone who wants to join. Do you have my mobile number Dave? It's on the group thread :)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Of course not, I will! And they have free internet at the hostel so they'll probably see your message themselves, too, even if they are too busy to post much right now :)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
To be fair, she did kindly offer to shower me with butterfly confetti after she'd pushed me in :flutterby: :inquisitive: Her logic in the matter was 'it's give and take - I give you a push, and you take a swim' :laugh3:

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
I third that request! Whilst it was an incredible treat to be surrounded by so many lovely, interesting, and charming ladies all on my lonesome, I'll be turning into a fangirl myself by the end of the trip if I don't get some male company soon :laugh3: There were also request from some of the ladies (no names shall be mentioned!) for men to be provided for their enjoyment. One of them kindly said she'd be satisfied if I could produce three for her (!!) Coldplaying gentlemen of the world, help me out here!! :P

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Well, I just got home from the first day, I was unlucky with trains on the way home, (three hours to get back from Swiss Cottage ), but it was well worth it for a lovely day :D Many of us met as planned at the hostel (which is a fantastic place by the way, and looks very well worth staying in if you're in London on a budget). Unfortunately our French members didn't appear...we found out later that they'd had a lot of travel problems, but thank goodness they made it by the evening :) A nice long walk from Swiss Cottage to Regent's Park getting to know each other, followed by a spot of late lunch and admiring the views and birdlife of the beautiful park in the sunshine. Then back to the hostel, to finally make contact with our French friends. I left the group as they headed off for dinner, and a possible trip to Camden. The whole day passed very quickly and a lot of laughs were had, which is always a great sign of good people getting together :P Some highlights of the day for me, (apart from meeting everybody of course:)): 1) A singalong to Natascha's mobile phone playing Spanish Rain in the park. 2) Managing to avoid being pushed in Regent's Park boating lake by Nancy (she pretended to be joking, but I knew by the look in her eye she was extremely serious, and utterly determined!! :o :laugh3:) 3) Having an evening beer with Anna in a pub garden and moaning about the music (Bon Jovi). What came on next? Only SPARKS!!! The first time in my life I've ever heard it in a pub! What next? Cher  And then...Trouble  Random and bizarre quote of the day from a stranger 'I'm German and a police officer in my own country, what seems to be the trouble here?' Lovely to meet you all, see you soon :D Pete P.S. I don't know if Jay-Z played an after-gig, but last night he headlined the Wireless Music Festival in Hyde Park...Gwyneth was there: http://www.wirelessfestival.co.uk/news/article.aspx?AID=a2a4405a-e05f-4c5f-817d-5385ac282947&gp=1

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
I don't think anyone who is not (officially) resident in the UK will be entitled to have an NHS medical card, or number. What you need, if you're from an EU country, is a special form (in England we get them from the Post Office) that says that you're legally entitled to full medical assistance (for free, if that is the system) from the country you're travelling to.

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Thanks Nancy! So, does that mean Anna has a foreign phone? My mobile can call UK mobiles only, I cannot call internationally. Anyway, I'll post my number in the meet-up group. As I live outside London, I hope people will keep me updated of the plans a little bit in advance if it's at all possible :)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
Anna are you sure your number's correct? Shouldn't the second number be a 4 too? Also, I think it's safer to post numbers on the meet-up group rather than out here in public...

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
I suggest early to mid afternoon as a start - almost a slightly late lunch :) (Though why shouldn't people start earlier, once the spot is chosen?!) And we do still need to choose a spot. Hampstead Heath is perfect, but it should be fairly close to the Tube/where everyone is staying/shops. And that way, those who wish to continue further into late afternoon/early evening/late evening/early night can do so (and with good weather sunset should be a specially magical time!!)

Coldplayers meet-up in London, Summer 2010 - UPDATED 4/7/2010!!
No it isn't NG. <edit> perhaps we can have an updated list on the last page of the meet-up group? I've asked for that on there...

the greatest day that any Coldplay fan could ever have, ever...
Incredible Craig, I'm so happy for you!! I think it's great and only right that you kept what should stay private, private, but also think it's awesome you wanted to share your happiness with the board. And what a memento, eh?! :)

Coldplayzone - Exclusive interview to Jon Hopkins!
Incredible interview Pat, thanks so much!! Jon was absolutely superb at the Brixton and 02 gigs I went to in '08, and of course he's contributed so much to the band (and will continue to - yay!) I cannot wait to see him again :)

Matt McGinn interviewed on Radio Kent (UK) today
Glad people enjoyed it :) I wish it'd been longer, Marsh always gets good guests and does his homework and then they're only short. It sounded like Matt could talk for hours. He must be doing other similar promotional stuff right now. Think we could get a Coldplaying interview Ian? Again, you're most welcome guys :) It really was a lucky catch as I was visiting Dad today and he always has Radio Kent on - it's not necessarily my first station of choice! Bit disappointed on the cheesy music today - no Lionel Ritchie, no Wham, no Blame it on the Boogie...not a classic from Marsh :laugh3: Well, I know what to play you in the car next time we're driving through Kent to our next adventure playground Jayzo! Great job on the recording and upload Anna

Matt McGinn interviewed on Radio Kent (UK) today
I've been alive for ALL of the songs they've played so far, you've only been alive long enough for one of them - how depressing :laugh3: http://www.tonsubet.com's offering odds of 2/1 that Billy Ocean's Get Out of My Dreams (Get into My Car) is played before Matt comes on...looks like a banker to me
