  1. Watch the fan edits with Jar Jar taken out - very much better :)
  2. Oasis? Keane? The list is pretty much a joke :( So, our boys to win :)
  3. I was at the last gig of the x&y tour, and they seemed to have got pretty sloppy and blase about Fix You. I said at the time I hoped they'd never play it again, but this tour (thanks to Eno I think) they seem to have got a lot of their passion for the old songs back (and passion in general), and I've enjoyed Fix You tremendously at each and every one of the six shows I saw this tour, it was a real highlight. Now Speed of Sound, I loved hearing live after I finally got into this song on the first UK leg proper of the tour, it was magical. But it is too similar to Clocks (which unfortunately they'll never drop - I'm so sick of that song). White Shadows was incredible live, Square One was just about the perfect intro to any gig imaginable, and GPaSUYF (proper version) was always one of their most impressive numbers live...sigh... Still, at least this tour I've heard Trouble and the wonderful Green Eyes a number of times, Square One and GPaSUYF (proper) once....and my beloved The Hardest Part almost every time, so I suppose I shouldn't complain too much. But it's hard not to when they padded the set out with a long version of Billie Jean at the last three gigs I went to...and two versions of LiT, with The Escapist as an outro also? I know they want a theme for the whole night, but... Moan moan grumble grumble. Surprised someone hasn't already come in and said 'don't like it? Don't go to the gigs' but it's only a matter of time. Warning Sign I will never hear live again, I know that now, it's finally sunk in after this tour
  4. Some really great bands here, some of whom I haven't thought about for quite a while! Great thread :) Hmm, all studio albums? I guess my only ones then are: Coldplay Pixies Stone Roses (Greatest bands ever imho, along with The Beatles of course) I also have complete collections of: Leftfield Paolo Nutini Not hard as it's only two albums each  Almost all their albums: Massive Attack The Sabres of Paradise Ego Wrappin' The Beatles Bob Marley Ivan Kilpstein (now known as Ivan Okay) - indie songwriter extraordinaire Daft Punk Pink Floyd Great band early on - seeing them play The Eight Legged Groove Machine in full last year for the 20 year (!!) anniversary was one of the best gigs I've ever been to (and I've been to thousands!)
  5. England would definitely win the World Cup if the teams were chosen from the players from that country's league :laugh3:
  6. Seconded the above - it's a beautiful classic. Never been able to track the film down for some reason, though I'm sure it's not a patch on the book. Presently working my way through the Narnia series for the first time in twenty or so years. Presently up to Prince Caspian which means my favourite of the series (A Horse and His Boy) is already past - boo!
  7. No chance, sorry, give up now.
  8. Bump (of course Mark is completely free to come and defend himself, but has tellingly so far decided not to do so).
  9. Absolutely, and in my humble opinion it's a great shame that Space Cadet has chosen to distance herself from her very well-thought post, and is the only reason I continue not to bump it. She is dealing with this privately? She is able to monitor Mark's behaviour that just a few days ago she was so very concerned about? How?? I have not been bothered enough to enquire, but I guess that Mark's awful behaviour towards me was part (?) of what got him banned in the first place. I have certainly had no 'private' dealing with him on his initiative to 'deal with this. Imho, it's because Ian and Jen are too gentle, too kind, and too laid-back to have a strict moderation policy here. I have been a member of forums since the internet opened (more or less) and continue to be a member of around ten. ALL of them have, or did have when I was a member, moderation policies, which include grounds for permanent banning (and grounds on any of the other forums Mark would have passed long, long ago). It'll be only for a short while, imho. It may take a month, he might even be able to hold off for longer, even a year, but his old ways will come back, and trouble will start again. In the meantime, who's going to prevent his recruitment of new (particularly underage) members that Space Cadet highlighted, was so worried about, and then withdrew from? No-one. Sounds like the best course of action for us all. Sooner or later, despite the lack of a moderation policy on this forum, he will surely get himself banned. Being rude to him only gives him ammunition to complain back to the mods. As Space Cadet so wisely said, we must be civil but reasonable with him. My goodness I do hope so.
  10. Incredible work, as always, Nancy :)
  11. Space Cadet, you expressed a concern about his private Pming (recruiting?) of underage/younger members, which was very valid (I have evidence of one case myself). So, how are you going to 'police' this aspect of his behaviour? Just take his word for it??
  12. Haven't read any of the thread, but THP was one of the best songs on X&Y for me. The live version is lovely, too though, and very tender :)
  13. Absolutely, and imho it doesn't matter how trivial the present, it's definitely the thought that counts :) I asked for socks this year, and I got them (nice ones too!) I was glad.
  14. Excellent thread! I got a boxset of Tommy Hilfiger (sic?) socks. They are lovely socks, but I don't like clearly-branded products much. Luckily, my face is so gorgeous no one I meet ever checks out my socks :laugh3: [/deep irony]
  15. Thanks Chavi, merry Christmas to you too!! Seems to be a competition going on, so here's one to beat! My best friend's partner went to uni with ALL the boys, and was a particular friend of Will's even though she knew them all. She went to all the early gigs, even the very first one when they called themselves Starfish...so beat that! Hehe, much love and best wishes for Christmas and 2010 :nice: Pete xxx
  16. Hi guys, hope you are all well, have had nice Christmases, and didn't eat too much!! :P:nice:
  17. Yep, Chris, Jay-z, and their respective spouses are great friends, and Chris also loves all forms of music, has absolutely no snobbery about genres at all, which is greatly refreshing. I say this not as a fan of rap at all, myself. Just make a new copy without that one song, and you never have to skip - easy! (Nothing could be simpler, and nothing ever was :P) That's not the real reason - see my points and others' above. Any one of the band could have vetoed the project - they all have equal say in everything they do. Chris is the great friend of Jay-z, but the others all agreed to do it, and they looked STOKED when Jay-z joined them on stage at Wembley (and so was I!) :)
  18. You need a gaming site, you're posting in the wrong place (the wrong forum). Try gamefaqs for starters. Good luck :)
  19. It too took me a long time to like it, so try to persevere. Now, I cannot listen to the original version without the rap, as it just feels like it's missing so much.
  20. Isn't that rubbish quality and also not the full thing?
  21. signed Email the link to the petition to Debs I'd say, if we get at least 500+ signatures.
  22. Merry Christmas Nancy, I admire you tremendously for your fighting spirit to bring hope and more to those caught in humanitarian disasters. You are an inspiration in how to care for others, and I thank you so much for your incredibly hard work on this forum in the last few months particularly, and I wish you all the best for 2010 :)
  23. Suzuki, Japan
  24. He does all the time. Otherwise he would only have one post.
  25. I have re-recorded the great classic song with a slight twist. Merry War (Christmas is Over) will be released digitally on the 26th. The limited edition vinyl run of 12 copies includes night vision goggles, a live grenade (for decorative purposes only) and a tin of Spam.
