  1. Got mine today as well; worth every penny. One thing I noticed, though: DLIBYH isn't really mentioned anywhere (other than the lyrics page of course). Every other song is mentioned a few times here and there, and many of them have altered lyrics that are pretty fascinating, but unless I skimmed over it, DLIBYH is really nowhere to be seen. Curious.

  3. If I remember correctly, Golden Arrow was dismantled and parts of it made it into another song (UFO maybe?)
  4. Haha seriously. I wonder if they make their corrections based on what we bring up in this thread? Let's test that theory: hey CP.com, in Us Against The World, it should be "The devil as he's talking with those angel's eyes," not "talking to those angel's eyes."
  5. Well, they've updated and corrected some of the lyrics, but I'm still seeing quite a few errors left.
  6. Our version is more accurate; there's no way Chris sings "When you're tired of racing" twice. There's nothing "official" about these lyrics, and it's embarrassing that they're being passed off as such. How they even ended up on coldplay.com is beyond me.
  7. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these the same lyrics given with the Japanese version of the CD? If so, how in the world did it even take so long to post them to the website to begin with? Something strange is going on if you ask me...
  8. I sent off a version of the following statement to our dear Oracle. She's answered me a couple times before; let's hope she does so again. "I was very excited to see the official lyrics posted on this site...until I realized there are many that are incorrect. Side A seemed more or less correct -- when the lyrics to Charlie Brown were given as "And a cartoon heart" rather than "Be a cartoon heart" (which is what Chris actually sings), I figured that he just deviated a bit from the official lyrics when the song was recorded. The side B lyrics are a mess, though. The entire last part of UFO is missing ("Bullets fly/Split the sky/But that's alright sometimes sunlight comes streaming through the holes), DLIBYH has a botched second chorus ("When you're tired of racing" is given twice, when the second time should actually be "When you're tired of aiming your arrows"). I'm sure there are other lyrics and songs that are incorrect as well. Any chance on getting everything corrected?"
  9. And that would tie in perfectly with ETIAW's "Maybe the trees are gone" lyric. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. :p
  10. It's "Light a fire, a fire a spark"
  11. If nothing else it would be nice if they did a one-off concert (televised or streamed). I think they came close to performing all of X&Y for MTV (I think it was called Live Leak), although they didn't play every song. Maybe they could do something like that for MX.
  12. I voted MX simply because it's their most cohesive album yet. If we're talking strength of individual songs, that's another story.
  13. Agreed, except I don't think DLIBYH is about moving on; it seems more like reconciliation: "From my shipwreck I heard her call 'When you're tired of aiming your arrows, Still you never hit the mark Even if your aims are shadows Still we're never going to part Come on baby Don't let it break your heart'" Either way, seriously considering making my ringtone AHT after reading this thread! :p
  14. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7384864n Fast forward to about 5:08
  15. I don't care what the source is; there is no such thing as "official" Coldplay lyrics. :p Exhibit A: The lyrics of X&Y, as taken from the Twisted Logic tour program "Up there and shouting from the top of a mountain To understand that we're all part of a plan." ...huh?
  16. UIF is worst to me, even though I do quite like the actual musical composition of it. Slightly OT, but I think it's humorous how much hate ETIAW got on its release...and now it's turned out to be one of the least hated on the whole album (at least, if this poll is to be believed)!
  17. That's what it seems to me as well. Even though we don't really get that sense of complete closure, Mylo's convinced "good things are coming our way." Combine that with Chris saying it's supposed to be a happy ending, I'd venture to guess that we're supposed to assume they end up together, even though the album doesn't explicitly say they do. Edit: As much as I was hoping for aliens, I'm not seeing them in here. At all. Anywhere.
  18. Maybe it's just me, but after multiple listenings, I'm hearing "spray can sword" rather than "spray can soul."
  19. Good find. Glad that's cleared up. Makes much more sense than "combusting."
  20. I'm still not sold on the "wire" bit, and there's still a missing syllable after "luminous" in any case, which makes me wonder if the word we're looking for is "luminescent." Another thought: "And we're so luminescent while We'll be glowing in the dark." Not really sold on that one either, but it's another possibility.
  21. Have we seen these lyrics written by the band anywhere (on instruments or anything)? I'm not saying it's not "combusting," I was just wondering if it's been confirmed or not. Personally, I can hear it either way depending on the version I'm listening to.
  22. It's embarrassing how clear the word "luminous" is now that we know what to listen for. Ah well. Good catch, Cake! I'd always thought the lyrics were "So it's all" instead of "So we saw" or "So we're so" because I kept hearing that "L" sound...guess it was from "luminous" after all! Edit: I'm still hearing "All that matters in the world" rather than "All the mess in the world." I could be wrong, though.
  23. Thanks for the review! Not sure where all the hate is coming from; pretty sure this review is as legit as it gets. Try to remember back to when you heard VLV in full for the first time. Now imagine that you heard each song once, in order, and couldn't take notes until some time after. Now imagine that, still later than that, you tried to write a review. How detailed would it be? How would you describe the nuances of, say, Yes? Isn't it likely that you'd describe Violet Hill and VLV with more specificity than the others since you already heard them multiple times? This isn't a professional reviewer who has the CD in front of them and can sit down, take notes during the songs, replay them, etc to make sure every detail is hit upon. This was done from memory. I'd like to see any of the complainers on here do any better after hearing the album once. For the 100th time, she never confirmed anything (I should know; I was the one who asked her the question to begin with!) "MX did indeed mean Mylo Xyloto but at the festivals, as I did mention, it wasn't a full song, just a prelude/introduction to Hurts Like Heaven." Can anyone tell me how that's confirming that it's a full length song with lyrics? It's not. All it's saying is that the song played at the festivals called MX is not a full song and is actually called Mylo Xyloto. As further proof, check out what Chris said about MX/HLH: MX is clearly short and without lyrics if Chris considers HLH the opening track. The version of LiT that made it on VLV doesn't have lyrics either, but I'd still consider that the opening track rather than COL. If HLH is to be the actual opener, MX can't be anything more than a short instrumental prelude. By the way, tomson, I'm not really directing this at you specifically since it's been brought up a bunch of other times; I just quoted you in my response since you were the most recent one to bring it up. :)
