[##CANCELLED - DISCUSSION PG138 ONWARDS] 09-Aug-09: Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL
Ziggy, I'd be happy to share :) I won a call-in radio contest for a promotion called Cocktails with Coldplay for tickets and a meet and greet before their concert in Irvine....Caller # 20 wins. The band had another commitment that day in Hollywood (as detailed in Roadie 42's blog http://coldplay.com/post_listroadie42.php Go to Blog #91) Unfortunately, because of this other gig that same day, the band was running very late by the time they got to Irvine. The radio station, KROQ, had a nice set up for us on a backstage patio, a buffet, no-host bar, etc. After the cocktail party, the band finally arrived, and we were divided into 4 groups for a quick photo. There were 40 winners plus their guests. We were not allowed, per Jackie their head of security, to take our own photos, due to time issues. But after they took their photo with another group, Chris came up to my husband and me, shook our hands, and apologized for the delay. I left Chris to approach Will and spoke with him for a few seconds (once I stopped hyperventilating - lol). We got in our group for the photo, they went to the next group, then immediately went backstage to do their pre-show huddle. When we left the backstage area to go to our seats, Magnificent was already playing. It was funny that I had no idea where my husband, Chris, Guy or Jonny were in the photo until the radio station sent it to us, 2 weeks later. My husband told me he was just standing with the group, when he felt someone put their arm around his shoulder, and he looked to see who it was, and it was Chris! Here's the group pic - my husband is in the blue shirt right next to Chris. It was too bad the radio station didn't send out a high res picture, but oh well...

And if the Los Angeles thing were true, you're all invited to stay here :). No Chris said that Irvine was their last L.A. area show for a few years. Boo hoo

Um, maybe when I said this earlier today, "So now that an LA stadium tour has been announced, what are the chances of rescheduling Tampa?", you thought I meant Los Angeles, when in fact, I was referring to Latin America... "LA" is how many people on the various boards have been referencing Latin America.

Maybe because Tampa was supposed to be the last show of the US Tour, on August 9, 2009. Chris got sick and they "postponed" the concert the day before on August 8. Over a month later, we received an email from the promoter, Live Nation, informing Tampa ticketholders that the show was officially cancelled, and we would be refunded our money. No word from the band, other than the initial "postponed" announcement. If you've been following our discussions, we have been talking about how they could fit in a rescheduled show, not that it would really happen, but it's something that we have been chatting about. We've been half-heartedly hoping that they would make a stop in Tampa on their way from London down to South America. As for the California reference, I flew 2,129 miles (or 3,426 km) from California to Tampa just for the concert, and was in the air when it was cancelled and could not change my plans. There are others who also flew in to see the concert. We're not "blaming" Chris for getting sick, but there were nearly 20,000 people who had tickets to this sold-out show, and who are very disappointed by the cancellation, as well as the lack of any announcement from the band. That is why we keep talking about Tampa...

Yeah, I know...plus they're going to be all ready for big stadiums, not little amphitheaters - basically, we're screwed. Now do I want to go to Mexico? I dunno - I've been to the cruise-ship tourist cities, but not inland. I don't speak any Spanish at all, funny, considering the huge Spanish-speaking population here and we live less than 2 hours north of the border.

VLV Latin American Tour rumors here!!
Aw Lore I'm sorry. Is there a way you can get a credit card that works in Argentina before tix go on sale?

So now that an LA stadium tour has been announced, what are the chances of rescheduling Tampa? I'm thinking they could stop in Florida on their way to Brazil, and stop in California after they do Mexico...makes perfect sense to me!

We don't have HBO so I've never seen any of the shows. But Chris made a comment at the Irvine concert - the part when he thanks the audience for coming, he said something like, " thanks for coming, for getting babysitters and dealing with parking, for giving us your Sunday evening and missing Entourage, we almost postponed the concert so we wouldn't miss Entourage" (huge cheer from the crowd), then he said, "It's true," and laughed.

Ziggy, there are a series of numbers in the LOST series, 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42, that keep recurring. First, one of the main characters won over $100,000,000 in the lottery by playing those numbers. Next, they are the sequence of numbers that must be entered into a computer every 108 minutes (which is what the numbers add up to)...or else... The flight that crashed was Flight 815...and so on...As for 42, you can go here for lots of details. :) http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/42

We saw Gwyneth in Irvine. She was sitting in one of the boxes, and looked happy. She was with a group and they were taking pictures. She also went down to the pit in front of the stage during Fix You - the camera showed her on the big screen. I think it was the only time I've ever heard Chris sing Fix You without changing any of the lyrics, and he sang the whole song, except for asking the audience to sing the very last refrain.

Ever since Friday, it's been perfect here. Last week was miserable, a whole week of temps over 100. Right now, at 4:30, it's 72 and overcast. The rest of the week, will be high 70s low 80s, and down to the 50s at night! And we're almost through fire season, whew.

Do "winter" and "Miami" even belong in the same sentence? LOST is brilliantly written. The allegory and research in the show is nothing less than genious, I think. There are many websites that delve into the mysteries and connections, and when I've had the time to read them, blow me away with the insight into the show. But it is not a show that you can join late, so to speak, and understand the meaning of the show and symbolism. There is so much I have missed and I've seen every show! I usually watch the show, then go to TWOP, read the board, then rewatch the show. Ok now I'm watching Andrew Zimmerman on the travel channel and he is in Bolivia eating lamb kidney stew and chunky bull penis soup. Sorry I think I have to pass on that one. And he says it's good!

APPLE RELIGION
But look at the woman in the black dress standing right next to the little girl...it's only a part of her, but it kind of looks like G.

Ziggy, I feel for you and those long Canadian winters - my idea of winter is when the temperature drops all the way down to 60 and I have to wear a sweatshirt. Is anyone watching the Ken Burns National Parks series on PBS? We watched the first 2 hour premier last night - the gorgeous scenery makes me want to go camping now, even though my idea of camping these days is a 35 foot rv with a microwave. :laugh3:

Reggie, I love that version of Shiver :) You always manage to find the best videos, too. I get really impatient searching youtube and filtering through the crap videos looking for the good ones. So I'm really glad we have you to do that for me :nice: And 42 is one of the mysterious LOST numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 28, 42)

Ziggy, you know, I've never seen a CSI or Law and Order. I like Survivor, but forgot it was on so I hadn't set the dvr until about halfway through last week's episode. Do any of you ever go to http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com? Those people are as fanatical about their tv shows as we are about Coldplay! The worst one I watch is Hell's Kitchen, lol. Gordon Ramsey cracks me up (and his restaurant in NYC at The London House is where I had my most expensive martini ever - $21 for a freaking martini!) I'd love to eat at one of their dinner services sometime, I should look into it more. We live about 60 miles south of Los Angeles, and last year, for the first time in many years, went to see some tv tapings - we saw Dancing with the Stars and got to see one of the early-in-the-season American Idol shows. The tapings kind of take all day, because they're first come, first served, so you need to get there really early and just wait. But they're kind of fun to go to.

I love Hawaii. My husband was born in Honolulu, but his family moved to CA when he was 11. it's my favorite place for a vacation - and I feel like I'm "home" when I'm there. Last summer, we bought a timeshare on Oahu, so we'll be spending Christmas there for the next, oh, 50 years or so? lol Um, yeah, shirtless Sawyer? :wink3:

I am a huge LOST fan, too. We go to Hawaii every year, and have been to the plane crash beach, and seen parts of the sets and props. Last time, we went to Hurley's golf course - remember a few seasons ago, when Hurley found the golf clubs? It's a place called Kualoa Ranch - many other tv shows and movies have filmed there. For about 3 years, my husband had to fly to Hawaii almost monthly, and on his last flight back, a few months ago, Evangeline Lily was seated a couple of rows ahead of him. He said she boarded late, sat down, threw a blanket over her head and slept the whole 5.5 hour flight. I can't wait for the new season, but since they don't do reruns, it seems like it's been ages since last season - I may have to rent a few seasons from Blockbuster...and I miss Charlie - I loved him. But that creeper Ben? shudder Michael Emerson plays him to perfection, I think. And yes, Sawyer is hot. So many unanswered questions and I hope they do a good job of bringing it all together for the last season.

I would so love to go on Amazing Race, but Mitch thinks we'd be divorced by the end. Not if he just does what I tell him to do and he can do all the food challenges and I'll do the height challenges. The wasabi bomb would have killed me. And I love Phil - he's my "Phil is hot." DH was good, I won't tell you who Mike marries, though. They do introduce new creepy neighbors, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. I wasn't really into last season's whole Edie's creeper husband story-line, so I wonder what direction they'll take with the new creepers. On a side note, my husband went to high school with Nicolette Sheridan - she was Telly Savalas's step daughter.

I think the audience is too far away from the stage on SNL - Chris loves interacting with the crowd and feeds off of the excitement of them. But on SNL, the crowd was so far back and elevated that he couldn't connect like he ususally does. Plus the stage is very small and he needs more room to run around. The few times he came to the very front of the stage, it's like there was a "unofficial barrier" preventing him from moving too much and getting too close to the crowd. And the crowd didn't look like they were up and dancing and just reacting the way a "normal" concert crowd would, way more subdued - but maybe they weren't allowed to stand up and dance. I'm going to date myself here, but the first time I saw U2 was in 1982, when they were the Opening Band for J Geils at the Los Angeles Sports Arena... LOL Chris was still in nursery school back then.

I recorded SNL, but haven't watched it yet. My son and husband both think Megan Fox is hot, lol...But fall tv is back, so I guess it's time to cancel Blockbuster.com. Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and we are loving Glee. We were really into Dancing with the Stars last season and even went to a taping of one of the shows, but no one this season really excites me...
