its not impossible, but to me, its not the best option. in her original email, debs didn't seem so hot on us going to the bakery. that's predictable, i guess, but i think that we first should wait for debs to say something, and if she doesn't then make some sort of call on a plan B with all the pros and cons of each plan covered.

10 Things Music Marketers Can Learn From Coldplay
oh, i've asked it twice now. no reply :dozey: someday when i'm a bit older and when i look more than 12 years old, i might just get my act together and start banging down the EMI office door in london (maybe with debs's help ).

Lovers In Japan Video Premieres Fri 31/10 on iTunes
haha, thanks! i bet it would be even more insane in DC than it is anywhere else. but the rest of the country is pretty insane too, i assure you! :D listen for chris's obama talking tonight. the line in my avi is from when he changed the lyrics to be "OBAMA sun" on sunday! (incidentally, where are your seats? my best friend and her 8 friends are going :P) i know what you mean about the other video, and i do love the second half because its so much like what LIJ is like live, but i think it would be a stronger video if they just kept it in that alleyway/decrepit house thing with the glow-writing and then dropped the butterflies. the cinematography throughout the entire thing is defintely enough to keep interest--i think the location-shifting is pretty unnecessary.

i would bet that with the right convincing, they'd see the point of it too. it really helps both parties (they make some serious money off the deal, i would assume). i think it's more a a matter of whether or not they'd pick a couple of diehard fans to get it up and running, or if they'd turn to professionals . they'd probably turn to professionals, but i think that could get ugly quickly. i could go on about this topic all day, so shut me up if i'm ranting :P

Shoes!
^haha! i haven't heard that one. that will. i think chris started out wearing the converse-type ones, but given all the jumping and dancing he does, i bet he had to switch to something with more cushioning and support . he's definitely wearing something more athletically oriented these days (having the shoes be in your face at exactly eye level definitely makes you notice them! :P)

hahaha! :laugh4: (ok, i don't know if that was intentional or not, but it must be, because the pearl jam fanclub that i mentioned is actually called the tenclub! fortytwoclub would be hilarious!) haha, yes, i most definitely AM an organization freak! :D i know it's never going to happen, but i would seriously kill to run an official coldplay fan club. my mom's in the pearl jam one, and the benefits she gets from that are incredible (christmas gifts, special newsletters much like the old e-zines, FIRST CHOICE OF TICKETS AT ALL CONCERTS, special merchandise, etc etc). i almost get a bit jealous that my favorite band doesn't have something like that, and i think they really should. and the people that started the fan club were just two regular fans back in the '90s and they've made it into something amazing in junction with the band itself. i want to do that :P

i gave it an 8, because i hoped that there would be more of one common thread. of course i still loved it, but i think i would have loved it more if they stuck with the air-writing for the whole thing, rather than going to a concert-esque thing without the audience. i liked that too, but it jumped around a lot. i'm a fan of continuity and general themes. for me, the air writing and the butterflies would have been enough, rather than all the shifting locations too.

Shoes!
i swear that chris has recently been wearing asics spray-painted black (or maybe they come in all black, who knows). as for the others, they're definitely converse-style, but i'm not convinced they're actually made by converse.

interesting. but i think they're being too nit-picky, especially about the VH download. of course they did it for album hype, but i think the intent was to make it NOT attached to anything else, like an album preorder. they wanted to truly give back, not con people into buying it. besides, they're probably 100% aware of all the illegal downloading anyway. i agree with #7, or a variation of it, but to me, that would require an official fan club with a small task-force of dedicated employees. i'm beating a long-dead horse with that one, but they really need to get on that. and i still maintain that it would be my dream-job to go to london and spearhead the organization of it :P. i've got connections into the pearl jam fanclub, and their model is amazing and has worked effectively for years, even going beyond the call of duty. i think to be a superband like coldplay these days without an official fanclub is kind of insane. it would just make sense for them (and for all of us). how i want to set that up...

haha . you really get a kick out of me being so young, don't you? :P i agree about the fanmail address. with most bands, the band never sees the stuff. debs claims that she reads everything that comes through there, and i think she'd pay special attention to all our cards with the logo on them, maybe even set them aside, but it's most certainly not as effective. i'm slowly thinking our best bet, IF debs doesn't get back to us, is waiting until after christmas. however, we'll need to be specific with her about dates and all. i also don't think debs is ingoring us, or even that she hasn't checked her email (i mean, really, i bet she has a blackberry and everything :D). i think she's probably just REALLY busy, so another polite email might do the trick and remind her that we're still waiting. i'm perfecting one now.

^i like the part about being in london; i'm not so hot on the liverpool gig at all. you're right, seven weeks is a long time, but i say better safe than sorry, especially for people in countries with less-effective postal systems or people that are really far away. personally, i think it's way better for them to get there weeks early and for debs to save them rather than them starting to be sent close to the actual date of delivery, because then several postcards would probably arrive to the PO box AFTER debs already gave the cards to the boys, and i think that's a bit sad for those people. plus, in my experience, international postcards from countries with GOOD postal systems can take anywhere from three days to SEVEN WEEKS, which is exactly how much time we have. waiting till after christmas is an option, too. i think we should wait to hear from debs for another 5 days or something, and then make a call on whether to send them to the fanmail address or wait until after christmas. i just wrote another email.

i was actually quite impressed with his drawing skills . he probably couldn't even see what he was drawing! i still want to know how they did that.

*sigh* that's another option, yeah. i don't like it, but it does make a lot of sense. and assumedly, they will be in london in january...but COME ON DEBS. lore, do you think i should write another email? i think we should try at least ONCE more before completely giving up and going with the fanmail address.

ooh pris, you're right. shit. i didn't even think about the EXTRA ten days required for a coldplayer to set up a PO box! that means we wouldn't get this show on the road for like another 15 days, which is WAY too late. ok, my vote is wholeheartedly for the official fanmail address. to me, its pretty clear that the bakery route would be a bad move.

i think plan B should be sending them to the official fanmail address, though i'm not really completely objected to flooding the bakery mailslot, either. it just requires more work to do that, with the envelopes and all, and i think tons of people would get very confused if we changed the rules that drastically. if plan b is just the fanmail address, no one needs to do anything differently. if plan b is sending them to a coldplayer that would drop them off at the bakery, the entire project would need to be reworked and there isn't a lot of time for that.

beanie babies were my first obsession, then pokemon, then the beatles, then coldplay :P i think my life just goes in a series of diehard obsessions.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
oh WOW. how young they are! it's so interesting to me that back then, they must have had no idea whatsoever of what they'd turn into...it was that song that was their first push...i don't know, i find that interesting. i miss chris's voice sounding like that, all powerful and raw. and the end, that interview! "when we was recording" and his accent is about 50X stronger :P

yeah, i just want to HEAR from her as an update. but i sincerely hope its the royal mail taking their damn time and not her. if she hasn't put in a request for a PO box yet, then we're screwed and will be forced to send to the official fanmail address.

Gwyneth...
awww, that would have been so awesome! make sense, too, since they're in the area :D @SueDeNimes--proof :D

Lovers In Japan Video Premieres Fri 31/10 on iTunes
the only part i really would have left out is when they're outside near some trees singing the song. it only lasted like 10 seconds anyway, and it never occurs again. i'm kind of interested in how they made this, though. because i'm freakishly observant, i noticed that they must have had to flip the video into mirror image, since will and jonny are using their left hands to write and guy is using his right :P. then again, their handwriting is worse than usual, so maybe they just used their other hands for the hell of it

  i can't stop watching this vid. it's beautiful. it's more "random" than i thought it would be in the sense that it doesn't stick with just one main theme, but it's completely epic. for right now, it's residing as #3 in my playlist of coldplay music videos :D

oh my god. i just totally squeed outloud with them sweeping at the end. SO CUTE. and them watching the TV like little boys...and guy flying, and chris being a superrockstar like at the concerts with the butterflies... it really is a big guy fest as well as a chris fest, for all you berrymanites :D and chris is soooo gorgy in this video :dead: :sweatdrop:
