  1. :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: i guess that's much more offensive in the UK...its a really common american expression, so it hasn't really been a big deal over here in the tabloids, even though the whole sleeping pill thing has...along with him thinking he was gay, "storming out" of the BBC, etc etc
  2. today my mom and i went to the grocery store, and on the shopping list i wrote "chris martin issue of rolling stone" so we wouldnt forget to look for it. i FINALLY found it (:D), but my mom has this habit of reading the shopping list to herself in mutters while checking to see if she missed everything, and i did a double take every time she read it like this: "milk eggs cheese bread chocolate chris martin bagels cookies..." i guess you had to be there, but it was hilarious. and my mother, the music snob, just proclaimed "viva la vida" one of the 100 best songs ever written. well. that surprised me a bit.
  3. goodness, once VLVOD ends, i'm going to go play 1.36 again and listen really hard :D and i love the mood, mich: crackhead! you and chris, then :P
  4. :freak: how did i miss this?!
  5. haha, well i think 'weird' is describing us (generally) quite nicely :P we're a bit insane...and i bet he would think we're all being sarcastic or mocking when we talk about how much we love them, just because he seems to think that stuff all the time :P
  6. ahhh, my two favorite things together...:dead: SIMON DID BACKING VOCALS ON 1.36?! is this news, or have we always known that? i think i now like 1.36 a lot more :P and i'd like to hear chris's scottish accent after hearing his american one...oh goodness
  7. i thought this was a great interview in its entirety :D he was surprisingly open with the interviewer. ...even if he does look a bit like a deer in the headlights on the cover :P and that photo of him surfing in the article...i'm leaving on vacation to go to my house in the same town that the photo was in/he lives in tomorrow :stunned:.
  8. ooh, thanks for doing that! i FINALLY found it myself, and now i don't have to scan it :D. thanks!
  9. just got life in technicolor for now :nice: i think my dad is going to kill me when i donwload more, but worse comes to worse, i throw a couple of bucks at him. the fact that ringtones cost more than songs off itunes baffles me, though. i kind of wish the strawberry swing one was a bit better, but i can almost guarantee i'll be getting that one as well eventually :P
  10. haha, you know, i think i might just do that. because now i want to hear which sections of the songs they have...oh, i'm SUCH a nerd :P i'm thinking strawberry swing and VLV for me :D
  11. entire album on verizon?!?! *gets somewhat disproportionately excited* i was thinking about this earlier today! ooh, i'm going to have to pick one carefully... if it wasn't 1AM, i'd go browsing RIGHT NOW, but somehow i think me browsing though loud ringtones would wake people up...
  12. this was attatched to a particularly aggrivating article about chris throwing a "hissy fit" on radio 6 yesterday, but i thought the pic was rather...nice
  13. agreed. tim russert isn't even on one of those "featured" story things, and the news is less than 24 hours old. someone that great deserves to be not bumped off the big news list by an overblown story about a cranky pop star (albeit one that i love :D). i know the story's just below in the news section, but really. people need to pipe down. grr. this is like the 4th story in TWO DAYS of the album being released: this, the one about him wondering if he was gay (that was "news" back in 2003, nothing new about it), and the whole "crack" think on the jo whiley interview. the media are like cats or babies: the album is something shiny to attract their attention, and once they've got that thing that caught their eye, they go to town on every little thing about it. ridiculous.
  14. i know that they really like the strokes, which makes me excessively happy :D
  15. how i wish it WAS a harry-potter type thing! that would be amazing, having it be like that :D. completely agree with you there :nice: while of course i think its perfectly fine that people download (as long as its legal :P), i do kind of feel like they're missing out a bit by not buying the physical release (especially the vinyl LP release, but i'm one of the only wackos that does that :D). to me, there's just something about having music you feel so strongly about in a tangible form...
  16. uggggh, i just went and reread that yahoo article, and the american media seems to be blowing it even MORE out of proprotion. this is like a snowball rolling down a hill. really, chris wasn't out of line, either. cranky and oversensitive, yes, but he did NOT have a hissy fit. my god. maybe the original whats-his-name interviewer wasn't out of order, but the people writing up these articles about it certainly are.
  17. agreed. his first line, even, was tinged with a bad mood. everyone gets in bad moods of course, especially when its what, your FOURTH interview that day? but as much as i love chris, i'd think that after 31 years of living with himself, he'd figure out how to keep it in check a little better, especially when people aren't really being out of order. for an artist, i know it's pretty much impossible, but i wish there was some way that chris could take the same attitude towards the naysayers and hoity-toity critics that a lot of us do on here: we still love coldplay, no matter WHAT the reviews say or WHAT trolls come on here and call us morons for liking coldplay, because that's just what we like to listen to. coldplay themselves are always going to try and get better, no matter WHAT the critics and interviewers say, because that's just who they are. what should matter most to chris and the guys is that they've made a LOT of people, literally thousands and thousands of people, very very happy. while there's always going to be the annoying buzz of critics and writers and interviewers, they're still going to do their thing no matter what they say, so i wish they could just fully grasp how much they mean to us, the fans, who really matter to their success in the first place :D oof, it's getting to be that time where i write a lot...
  18. haha, well it's not a videogame or harry potter. people these days don't really line up for music or movie releases, so i'm really not suprised. i dont think there really are any stampeding coldplay hoardes that would camp out for this sort of thing, unless all 30,000 or however many there are of us all happened to live in the same place or region. now...THAT would be a bit ridiculous!
  19. ^i'm horribly upset by tim russert :bigcry:. he was one of my favorite political journalists out there. i've always wondered if maybe chris was a bit bi-polar as well. from what i know, he seems like he could be. while the interviewer was stuffy and perhaps should have upped his knowledge of chris and number of listens to the album before interviewing them, i don't think he was out of line. all the other radio interviews we've heard so far have been great because chris knows the hosts well, or at least knows what to expect from them because he's been with them before. knowing his personality, i understand why he acted like this. however, i read all the comments in the thread about it before downloading and listening to the interview, and once it was over, i realized i expected the interviewer to be worse. the interviewer could have been a bit more sensitive, but chris could have been a bit more chill too. at least he was polite about leaving, not storming out in anger. even if the line "i don't like to talk about things" was kind of ridiculous :P. i thought will was absolutely fantastic, but from what he said, i got the sense that this is the thousandth time he or guy or jonny has had to excuse chris to people who are a bit surprised by his reactions sometimes. he's either a teddy bear or a bomb waiting to go off (with a small, generally polite explosion when it does go off), and while i can't imagine being in his position, i just thought he would have gotten a bit better at managing himself by now.
  20. thanks, tracie!! downloading now so i can have a proper listen :D
  21. indya, was betterthanyou YOU?! :stunned: somehow i missed out on what the "inside" thing was and am still hating the effer. now i REALLY want ice cream. thanks a lot, semy :dozey: :P
  22. i agree with everything said except this i don't think chris is being unclear or hypocritical or safe at all. to me, violet hill is as bashing to current political figures as they come, completely without ambiguities. "i don't want to be a soldier"...that's not encouragement, people. neither is "sometimes even right is wrong," in my opinion. if they're going to relate that line to soldiers in iraq, then it even MORE fits, in my opinion! "even right is wrong," like even what your country and your oath says is right can STILL be wrong, like going into iraq was in my opinion. and chris isn't some freaking christian evangelical! i think you're allowed to mention christian-esque themes without being some sort of christian-rock band or some sort of evangelical like yous ee on TV. jeez, he's said that he has a history with christianity, and he studied ancient history. i think they COMPLETELY missed the point with this last paragraph, and i'm disappointed with RS for saying that because i think their reviews are usually right on with what i think. then again, i'm also currently pissed at them for giving the lil wayne album 4.5 fucking stars. i mean REALLY, when's the last time they gave 4.5 stars to ANYONE?! i think it might be pink floyd in the freaking '70s. (ok, thats an exaggeration, but REALLY, they never give out 4.5 stars, and the first time they do in aaaaages, it's lil wayne? i don't think VLVOD deserves 4.5 stars, but lil wayne?! WHAT?) everything else, though, i think is probably the best i've read so far. untinged with gwyneth references, noticing the influences and eno's work...i think i would have bumped it up to 4/5 stars and completely reworked that last paragraph, but other than that i stand by rolling stone's review :D
  23. aww poo. that makes me REALLY sad  well, i suppose i can go occupy myself with the james mcavoy part :sneaky: fingers crossed that someone else will upload it.
  24. sounds good tracie! :D i'm mostly just interested in the talking anyway. thanks so much!
  25. i'd GREATLY appreciate a rip, tracie! :D i havent seen it in MM...
