"I don't even know where the hell I am." --Nick Valensi Some people were peeved that the three later "in the studio" videos were kind of old news, but I liked that Ryan kind of expanded on this video. And Fab and Albert on the couch is by far the best .

I get "Nikolai Broke the Zoom" stuck in my head more than I should. Akjfksjgkfh, I just love all of them.

Hahaha, ok, whew, I'm not the only one . I just think they have better things to do than leave us really obscure hints to things in videoclips... (except they did do that with Viva la Vida...) But yeah, if they hadn't made that sneaky little video and embedded things in it before, I would probably not be thinking a thing about the video/minor website changes. In fact, even with the 2007 video, I still don't think there are any subliminal messages in anything here :uhoh:

Ajskfgdh, that is forever my favorite Julian photo :cheesy: [/fangirl] Yeahhh. It's funny because last night, Nikolai tweeted a photo of these (adorable) pre-teen girls that were holding up a sign for him (NIKOLAI BROKE THE ZOOM ) while queuing, and since they were so little and looked so inexperienced, they were literally on my mind all night because I know how The Strokes' crowds have been lately and I didn't want these kids to get hurt or pushed away when they'd been waiting for so long. I expected this to be madness, given the fact that it was free and St. Patrick's day, but I guess I didn't expect a mini-riot, even if it was fairly tame as they go. I'm seeing them three times this year, and I'm actually decently worried about it, and I have been in pits quite a few times. The crowds for these guys since their 2010 return to live performances have been fucking nuts, with all sorts of crazy stories. I don't know if I'm making them out to be more intense-sounding than they actually are, but I'm worried about how I'll manage Coachella and Oxegen (Sweetlife Fest in DC to a lesser extent...smaller venue, and the festival is run by salad-makers, for God's sake). As much as I can totally stand a little pushing and shoving, I'll have been waiting without food or water or bathrooms all day, and in the blistering heat at Coachella as well, and by the time the dramatics start I'll be in a weakened state. I really don't want to get pulled out and have all my time waiting wasted...especially at Oxegen, because I'll miss being at the front for Coldplay as well, which I know I can 100% handle :uhoh:

Yeah, this is me in a post :dead:. I am such a freak for them it's insane. Like I've loved them since 2001, but this year I've really been off my head about them ever since it's sounded like they were FINALLY making their comeback. I want an I heart Valensi shirt too :wacky:

I know :disappointed: :P My (party-pooping) two cents: I think MX, if anything, probably refers to a title more than a date. MX as a Roman numeral is like...way more complicated than I think they'd all bother with, and I doubt they just all sit around thinking of ways to subtly pass us information . That said: How many freaking words begin with X?

Haha! I should come up with a better term for it, but that's what I feel like on the board...always kind of gently asking people to be realistic and subsequently bringing them down :P

It's so nice to be excited about Coldplay again :wacky:. They've been so quiet and I've been so distracted by other musical events lately that they've been somewhat off my radar, but this is hopefully the start of more news trickling out. Interesting side note: March 17, 2008 is when we found the new/secret website caps for the VLVOD era by Slenderfungus . Memoriiiiiesss...and an interesting coincidence that that was exactly 3 years ago today! The ball rolled really, really fast after that for the rest of that week. Maybe we're in for more stuff soon? I kind of think that we're overanalysing all the minor changes on the website a bit, not to sound like a Debbie Downer. But I think the MX might be significant! :D

I'd say either Taken for a Fool or Machu Picchu  Aww, Nick :wacky: I really hope they do some proper, unreleased B-sides, though. From the three "in the studio videos," there were some vocal phrases and a guitar hook that seem to be begging to be used to me.

In the quote I read, I took it less to mean that "we have already started to write and work" and more like "we have a lot of stuff backlogged that we plan to take up sooner than we thought we would." They've sounded optimistic about there being a 5th, though, and it coming out much sooner than it took them to churn out this one, by the looks of things. Both of which make me want to roll around hugging myself :wacky:. However, for a pretty popular band with a new record, their touring schedule seems light and spread-out as it stands now, so who knows, maybe they'll start hacking away at things soon rather than waiting for everything surrounding Angles to die down.

Yeah, I've gotten that from one other person too, but it's what I immediately think of every time I play that song., I meant that all to just be from my opinion anyway, from what things sound like to me. I hate when people make definitive calls and say "this is what it sounds like." It's just what I hear, I guess. I also meant all that to be in a spoiler since it's long and give-away-y, so I'm going to spoiler it now. Sorry :\

This was originally meant to be in a spoiler because I ramble, sorry.

A lot of people were saying it was Amanda's fault, that she like was passing it out to everyone she knew and that's how it must have gotten out. I wanted to knife someone at that because it was so baseless, so I automatically wrote off the Julian thing as well. I still don't believe it, but there's a source on that? I don't know. Or technically care. Whatever my overall feelings are about this album, the first two tracks are complete gold.

The Strokes
Yeah, it was 8PM GMT yesterday. And I agree that it makes sense that it was intentional, it was just the way the rumors were presented that made me automatically disbelieve it this morning. You know how fricking ridiculous some of the Strokes fangirls are (so much crazier than Coldplay fangirls): "OMGZ WHAT IF JULIAN HIMSELF LEAKED IT?!?!?!" There was a lot of that going around, til I learned a few hours ago that that might actually have *some* backing. I still don't know what to believe, however, and I don't really care. I guess I just allow myself to be curious about who and why because this is what I want to do for a career and I like to know all the inner workings :wacky:.

The Strokes
Well so this is how they're handling the leak...you can listen on their website now: http://new.thestrokes.com/featured/listen-to-angles-here It's rumored that the leak was intentional in the first place. This morning I thought that was utter crap based on no evidence at all (even though I know that does happen quite often), but the more I hear the more I think it may be true.

The Strokes
This is exactly how I feel, except maybe replacing the word "awesome" with "...interesting."

OK, I like the album art inside the cover MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the outside cover: I'm sorry, but Nikolai is the definition of BAMF.

The Strokes
Before you get too excited, it's not overly apparent--you really have to pick out the similarities, but the first time I heard it I knew I'd heard a bit of it before, and then someone pointed it out on Twitter and you could have knocked me over with a feather. I got into my first Angles argument today---with my mother. Even though I said I wasn't going to advertise my thoughts for awhile. Oh boy.

The Strokes
OK, my mind was just blown--in NME, Julian said about Games: "the part at the end of the song is so old, we've had it for about 10 years at least." Yeah, it's "Unknown Song 1." From 2000. I KNEW IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR WHEN I HEARD IT. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmlykTRihu4]YouTube - The Strokes Unknown song[/ame] Brain exploded.

The Strokes
I...have no words. Or I have a lot of them, but I don't want to say them just yet, I think. I usually don't allow myself to think of my impressions of an album for the first month or two as permanent, but I usually post a temporary opinion a few days after first listens. I guess all I can say for now is that my opinion is overall a positive one, but I'm still kind of having a hard time believing this is a Strokes album.

Coldplay To Play London's Hyde Park this summer?
Or they could just play any damn day they want, right? I agree that sounds likely, but I don't see why they'd necessarily have to play that day if they're doing their own gig.

Coldplay To Play London's Hyde Park this summer?
I kind of really hope they don't, because I can't afford it yet would be totally unable to pass up the opportunity to see them so close AND probably get together with a bunch of Coldplaying friends. Oy vey :P

[10-July-2011] Coldplay @ Oxegen festival, Ireland
Oh me too, I will be doing nothing besides maybe buying water and food and then high-tailing it to the main stage and waiting there ALL day, hopefully getting as close as I can. I plan to do the same at Coachella on the last day, and that's just for The Strokes :P. I will probably die of happiness if The National happens to be on the main stage on Sunday as well :dead:. I've never done a festival before, but at least by the time Oxegen rolls around I'll have one under my belt!

You go, Katie! I really do admire people that wait just for the willpower. Which is something I don't have when it comes to things like The Strokes. I also just think it adds to my personal experience to get it drip by drip and then hear how it all comes together later--it's part of the experience for me. BUT. I think you are going to LOVE these two songs :wacky:. I have a newfound appreciation for Valensi.
