  1. It took about 30 minutes just for the post I just made above to cycle through and be posted, so this place is definitely going to explode on Friday :P We need Captain Ian to the rescue :wacky:
  2. I would take time off if I wasn't currently a recent university graduate with no job  I'm going to say yes on the poll anyway.
  3. You confused mnemonic with acronym  A mnemonic is something you come up with to help you remember something, which could be an acronym.
  4. I kind of hope the title's not "Mnemonics and Murals" :uhoh: Then again, I hated the title "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends," so in the end, a title doesn't matter much at all.
  5. It was the January 2011 issue of Q Magazine, with a blurb on what Coldplay's doing in the studio. That song name and two others were mentioned.
  6. Yeah, the more I think about it, the less convinced I am that this is all for a single, and that the single will be called "Every Tear's a Waterfall" But...I do have a feeling they'll be playing a new song at the festivals...which start on Friday...
  7. UGH, I really thought we'd get more than just a teaser today...but at least that one says "finally," which I take to mean we won't have any more bloody teasers :bomb:. But like some other people, I'm starting to think that all these various teasers haven't been teasing us for one song, they've been lyrics from various parts of the album, and they're gearing us up for an album announcement. I still think it would benefit them (and us) to have one new song to bring on the road with them starting Friday, but I just don't think all these lyrics etc. are from one song anymore. I'm now wondering how likely a single is in the very near future
  8. Common for music releases, not Coldplay, per se. They don't have to follow the same plan as they have with their other albums, especially since they're more popular than ever, really. And maybe not even "common," but certainly within the realm of possibility and acceptability. I meant it's possible for a band to release a single two months or more before an album without a concrete release date announced for the album itself.
  9. ^^^I maintain they don't "have" to do anything. At most, I think they'd be *somewhat* obligated to give us a clearer idea about when the album is coming out, i.e., a month. I'm thinking September, maybe. But yeah, it might be likely to hear an album name as well, if they're going to do a release of any kind this week.
  10. This isn't necessarily true. Lots of bands release singles two months or more ahead of their albums without having a concrete date for the album announced. I think yes, traditionally it's common for a band to say when the album's coming out slightly before/in tandem with/slightly after the release of a first single, but it's not unheard of to release a single with only a vague timeframe announced for the album release, as long as that timeframe isn't too far in the future. The rumor seems to be autumn, so I'd say a single release this week with an album in September or October would be fairly typical. They're also Coldplay--they don't really have to operate under any normal industry rules. As long as their PR people and promoters agree that what they're doing isn't commercial suicide or will cause major losses for EMI, I think they're probably pretty free to do whatever they want.
  11. I still think that the album won't be out til September or October, but that we'll have this single in the next 6 days, studio-quality, and that a major album announcement will come sometime in late June or July :D
  12. For some reason, I'm more optimistic about this teaser than the others, but I can't really articulate why . Maybe because it doesn't seem so graffiti-ish, and I'm hoping they don't hammer that one theme into the ground too early. I think we'll hear the single, studio-quality, before Friday and the first festival date. At least I think they'll play the song at the first festival, but I do really think that all these teasers (SIX, bloody hell) are gearing everyone up for a release, not just getting everyone excited for something only a few thousand people are going to be able to experience at one time. I think it makes commercial sense for them to release a new song a few days before they hit the road again to create even more hype. I hear some people are thinking Monday? I think that could be possible, as it's a holiday in the US and the UK and they'd get a lot of people home from work and school to hear it right when it goes live. Otherwise, I really think it's going to happen before Friday. Where is this 5th of June thing coming from? That's a Sunday anyway, who releases things on Sundays?
  13. FIVE TEASERS IS ENOUGH, GUYS :bomb: I'm resolved to not make any more judgements on the lyrics, but the more they tweet (and the more they sound like Miley Cyrus/Rihanna/etc), the harder that is to do...
  14. I agree, I just find the coordinated, preplanned clothes a bit too much :blank: But I'm fine with suits/waistcoats and formalwear...:toff:
  15. The idea that's keeping me positive: a lot of lyrics from X&Y and VLV sound similarly...less-than-great when taken out of musical context. I hope the same holds true for this album :P
  16. I think Angles might be more polarizing, at least in the critical world: critics seemed to either eat it up or hate it, citing it as either a return to form or a first death throe for the band, without a ton of middle ground. Fans seem to either love it or be kind of "eh" about it with comparison to earlier albums. FIOE, I feel like most critics really panned, but most fans think it's extremely underrated. What this means in relation to anything, I have no idea, but there's my random observation for the day .
  17. Yeah, had to delete that one once I understood what was going on . I did think it was a bit fishy that I hadn't gotten notified of it in any way, so I double-checked :P
  18. JEEZ, that post about "news at 12 noon tomorrow" made my heart stop . Dammit :dozey:.
  19. ^It probably was, just not to me :P
  20. New wild prediction: I think we're going to have a single in the next 5-10 days :freak:
  21. Oh my god, this is either going to be brilliant or a bit cringeworthy, if I'm going on lyrics alone...the final line is a bit much for me, haha
  22. OH MY GOD
  23. Is the one they just posted the same one over again or am I crazy? EDIT: Oh, I think it's just a corrected version :P
  24. OH MAN :bomb: Only Coldplay posting mysterious letters could wake me up before noon on a day when I don't have to do anything :P I like these lyrics much more than yesterday's...but it does kind of sound like the apocalypse, haha
