  1. :bigcry:  :bomb: I like thought I was going to faint when it was confirmed, and I was on a train so I couldn't squee much or anything. And it only makes it more awesome that it was Janie that got the response :cheesy:. For so long I really was getting convinced they'd just kind of unofficially break up by fading out of existence, so it's a huge understatement to say that I'm beyond thrilled for this. The Strokes were the first band, the first music I ever liked, and besides the fact that I'm batshit for the music just like I am for Coldplay and a few other bands, they as people hold a special place in my heart as well :wacky:.
  2. Exactly, which is why I've been having a hard time writing my bits because I don't want it to become *that kind* of thing, something more celeb-mag than about the music. I'm supposed to be writing the segments of news on each band member, and because there's not much going on publicly in the Coldplay world right now, I don't have much to say that doesn't sound stalkery or tabloidish, and I don't plan to include those things at all. I guess I could say that Will serves his children porridge with golden syrup because that's straight from the horse's mouth...:P I would never include rumors as news, but my point is more that the things I have to say about the guys in such segments have more to do with their personal lives than the band or the music, and I don't like that balance, personally :\
  3. Ugh, if we ever got to hear Chris perform the song somehow...:bomb: And I agree to what was said earlier about the odds of it winning an Oscar--I think it's somewhat likely it'll be one of the five to be nominated, but I don't really think it'll win. For my own selfish (and weird) fascination and bewilderment with their relationship, though, I think it would be really interesting to see how they handle that situation...if they handle it at all rather than just ignore it and not even have Chris show up to the ceremony, which I think is likely :dozey:
  4. It's supposed to snow here like crazy (again) on Tuesday-Wednesday, so that's when I'm going to sit down and write my bit :D. However, I'm just kind of miffed that the only things to report are really gossipy sounding and about their personal lives rather than the music. I feel like I want to wash my mouth out for writing such tabloidy stuff :P
  5. I know a lot of people regard the ass cover as the "true" cover or whatever because it was first, but I just never thought it fit the album. I don't think the particle collisions do either, but I think it comes a hell of a lot closer to being appropriate for the music than the ass/glove. I also just think they're pretty :wacky:. Agh, this is tied with A Rush of Blood to the Head as my favorite album of all time .
  6.  ! Jamie, I know I said I'd have my bit into you sooner than now...I'll work on it and hopefully have it to you soon. My life actually picked up in stuff I had to do the second I agreed to do something, but I PROMISE I'll have it to you in time :D. I also just don't want to make it sound too gossipy-fangirly, but that's all the stuff I have right now, so it's taking longer than I thought :dozey:.
  7. If the goal is to hide his connection to the film, a) he could come up with a way more imaginative pseudonym, b) the cat's been out of the bag on this one for months anyway, and c) looks like he really effed up by making it so good it's on the shortlist for an Oscar nomination with his name attached and waved about in the media :P. I feel like I want him to get the nomination and the win mostly just to see him squirm about being so publicly and unavoidably connected to his wife. That'll teach him to be a hypocrite! :P Also, note of annoyance: "Me and Tennessee" is album-only for download on both iTunes and Amazon :dozey:. I WANT to pay for the damn thing, I'm one of those people obsessed with legal downloads, but they're making it rather hard.
  8. I saw Country Strong today as well :nice:. It's not really an Oscar-winner, but I figured it sould at least be getting better reviews than it is. Regardless, I think Gwyneth is always at her best as an actress when playing really screwed up, depressed characters, and she didn't disappoint. She also was fricking beautiful :D. And Garrett Hedlund was not exactly hard on the eyes either :freak: . The part that I found the funniest though was in the credits...I'm one of those weirdos that always stays til the end of the credits, and this time I did to hear "Me and Tennessee" anyway...but when they listed the song credits at the end, "Me and Tennessee" was said to be written and co-produced by an A. Martin :dozey:. They even make it look like they're not connected to each other in the fine print that no one reads anyway!. Guess they're trying to pawn the song off on Apple or Chris's father or brother or something :P.
  9. "Give an update on album #5's progress" is not "we will be telling you all about it." Come on, you must know by now how they are with these sorts of things . Chris always derails the conversation and gets distracted, says things that end up not being true or that he changes his mind on the following day, and can barely ever be relied on for anything newswise, and even though Will is better...I just think this thing still has a long way to go before they're going to start dispensing real info about it. They're probably so wishy-washy on it because it's still a wishy-washy thing (I don't know how much faith I put in the whole thing Jonny evidently said about it being recorded). And even if the recording is done, unless they plan to put it out earlier than the summer which is the most logical timeframe anyway...we're not going to be hearing anything serious for another month or so. OK, sorry for the rant, I guess I just feel bad that people are disappointed when we were promised and owed nothing besides a chat. Bed time for me :nice:.
  10. Guys, guys...OK, so it was kind of a lame interview and we all hyped ourselves up earlier, but come on...we all know how they are on radio! Zane almost definitely just rang them up to help him out while he's filling in this week to give the show some variety and they obliged. I hope no one goes complaining to anyone seriously...they don't owe us anything, we just have to be patient :) And you can't deny it's kind of fun to just hear them be goofy on air :P
  11. I figured that was going to happen. Earlier today I was musing what they'd talk about and I pulled out of my ass that Chris would muse about cookies...turns out I wasn't THAT far off because they talked about croissants and porridge :P Sorry for initially getting anyone's hopes up by posting this thread a few days ago--I think that was less informative than even I expected, Coldplaying's token pessimist, but I don't know, I do rather enjoy listening to them shooting the shit on radio :wacky:.
  12. I swear to God the next time I hear the word breakfast my stomach is going to eat itself. It's 3AM and I'm starving .
  13. OK, that was a great subtle self-reflective joke Chris cracked there :P
  14. Oh HAHAHAHA, "the new Coldplay album due this...yearrrr???" This is not going to be promising, guys . I hope no one has their hopes up. And yeah, most of the early morning stuff is pre-recorded.
  15. He's not making that big a deal of Coldplay being on--I think that's the first time he mentioned it. Two mornings ago when he had Nikolai from The Strokes call in with big news, like every other word out of his mouth was that Nikolai was going to be on. I'm not getting my hopes up for this being some big promising announcement or anything, but at the least it'll be an entertaining chat :D
  16. @zanelowe And yes, Zane often sings along to what he's playing
  17. If I'm going to stay up for this I think I need to come up with something to occupy myself for two more hours or so before this show gets on the road :dozey: :P This is exactly how Chris is in radio interviews, oh my God .
  18. ^I suggested creating a social group for CTV as a sub-forum is probably a bit much as you say. Does that sound like it would be useful to Jamie/everyone?
  19. I bet Zane asked them to keep his fill-in for Chris Moyles interesting, but that's just a guess. But if he convinced them just to come on, I hope he also convinced them to say SOMETHING new about what their plans are, even if it's very small :P
  20. FAKE COMMERCIAL FOR DEODORANT USING YOU-KNOW-WHAT SONG :P I don't know why this is what immediately popped into my head .
  21. Ooh, the banner! Is that the logo/watermark? If it is, I love it! :cheesy:
