  3. Got my BA from there. Enjoy the time though it takes about 35min to reach London Waterloo.
  4. I really don't. As I said I travelled 45min to work each day. ;) I'm still on Dickens; though I took a break and finished Jhumpa Lahiri's "Unaccustomed to Earth" instead.

  6. BBC: Hillary Clinton faux pas over Queen's birthday greeting The US State Department has been left red-cheeked after sending birthday greetings to the Queen a week early. The diplomatic faux pas was admitted by spokesman PJ Crowley, who said: "Better a week early than a week late." The message from US secretary of state Hillary Clinton on behalf of President Obama also honoured the "special relationship" between the US and UK. Buckingham Palace said no offence had been taken, and that it had been a "genuine mistake". In the premature message, Mrs Clinton said: "On this celebratory occasion, we pay tribute to the Queen's life and legacy and honour the special relationship between our two nations. The statement noted how, "the young Princess Elizabeth helped rally her nation in the darkest days of that war, and she has remained a beacon of integrity and resolve ever since". It said: "The United States has always been grateful for her friendship and example. Once again, I wish Queen Elizabeth II a very happy birthday and peace and prosperity for the people of the United Kingdom in the year to come." The Queen's actual birthday is on 21 April - she turned 84 this year - but British monarchs celebrate a second "official" birthday on a Saturday in June decided by the government, this year on 12 June, culminating with the annual Trooping the Colour parade. 7. The book is pretty good. It's more like a compilation of short stories. Can't you try getting it over amazon? I just finished "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri. It was unbelievably good and I recommend reading it. Will now try to get hold of her other books - which I believe are more famous. Next book: "In Cold Blood" by Capote. Btw, I don't have too much time to read. I simply travel 45min to work each day. :D
  8. Have people stopped reading? I devoured a few books recently: Primo Levi - The Periodic Table Paul Auster - Leviathan Cormac McCarthy - The Road Currently it's "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri.
  9. It's pure fun! :laugh3: Can't remember a Eurovision party without it.
  10. You don#t know Scooch?! lol [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBOnDcmckdc]YouTube- Eurovision Final 2007 UK - Scooch - Flying The Flag[/ame] (It's an example of a really bad Eurovision entry. However, the British loved it and why shouldn't they compete with a song they like. ;))
  11. Please no! I'm having hopes they'll come up with sth similar like Scooch again. Haha! He didn't even cross my mind. lol
  12. Ehm... right. :D No, there's def some truth in it. ;) Purpose was to give some examples of the long tradition of successful British Eurovision entries. Britain shouldn't give up. But maybe without Terry nothing is the same... lol @Belge fans: Did you see that he came first in the semifinal?! Unbelievable (for Belgium :laugh3:)!!!
  13. Not true! ;) Btw, the UK has won 5 times so far! The second most successfull Eurovision participant. I'm sure we all remember Katrina and the Waves and Brotherhood of Man!
  14. Shame on Malte and Ireland! They usually have high points for the UK. ;) Anyway, I'm a big Eurovision fan and totally adored the show in Oslo! My personal fav was Israel and would have liked to see Sweden and Estonia in the final. Apparently Europe thought different. lol
  15. Thank you for that! It's another argument why people should be more sceptical about this guy. Btw, am I the only one thinking the LibDems signed an awful coalition deal?
  17. travelling (St Petersburg, Helsinki and maybe Poland)
  18. I'm afraid that's wrong. It's David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Have a look here. ;) http://www.penguin.co.uk/nf/Book/CoverImagePopup/0,,9780140439441,00.html edit: changed the link. lol
  19. Currently reading "New York Trilogy" by Paul Auster. I really liked the first story so that I am now trying to order "Leviathan". But amazon is making trouble...
  20. White Teeth by Zadie Smith - genius!
  21. Of course! It's an American classic and really good to read. Enjoy! ;)
  22. Many times. Have you ever donated money to charity?
  23. Finished Brecht's "Threepenny Opera". Started "The sea the sea" by Iris Murdoch - love it so far; i'm on page 100.
