  1. I see. Well, carry on then!:)
  2. :laugh3: Well, look at it this way - country, the blues, rag time, shuffle blues, rockabilly - they all converged in places like Memphis, (the other Memphis:egypt: - you know, the one in Tennessee;)), and from that and modernization came rock and roll! So, really, think of it as a history session sort-of, then it's maybe a little more interesting. (Yes, I know - country can be a bit dull sometimes, corny, or smothering in conformity, or red-neckish, but it's got a place too. And some of the shows are top notch, so it might be ok. You'll survive!:laugh3:
  3. Lemony, Citrinu or Citriny ? Anyhow, pardon moi - just taking a break, needing to make some more Kolackys or Kolache - which is it? Maybe lemon-cream cheese ( citriny grietineles suris ) ones would be good? Do Lithuanians make Kolackys?
  4. Maybe not funny, true - but at least not lemony! :P
  5. What music will you be listening to for ringing in the new year?:sunny: (something I ran across - wow, what a party! --->[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmIRgZbzoJ8&feature=related]YouTube - Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, BB King[/ame]
  6. What are all of you Lithuanians doing here? :stunned: :laugh3::escaping3::escaping3::escaping3:
  7. Ground Hog's Day = the day we make Spam here in Iowa...:P Pardon the Internet Hiccup - I swear, it wasn't me!:stunned:
  8. 42=(Last Digit of Grahams Number) X (Last Digit of Grahams Number - 1) :laugh3: Lucky Seven wins again! :P Is the Universe Infinite, or do we just keep getting slower and slower when we near the edge?
  9. :escaping:How did this happen??
  10. I reflect a bit, try and make sense of things, and make some course adjustments. Then I return to routines, and live an imperfectly normal life.:laugh3: Basically the ancient Scots were right - go visit a neighbor, bring them some bricks of peat, and down a shot of scotch whiskey together. Light up the night sky with a few rockets around midnight, wish your neighbor a good new year, sing the ancient ballad with a warm fire in the peat stove. You can modernize this as you wish, but sing Auld Lang Syne and remember, it's all about sharing the memories, remembering the friendships, and singing in the new year! The resolutions are for the resolute - just to be happy to have weathered the year's storms together is plenty in mid-winter - I'd save the resolutions for Ground Hog's Day.
  11. Coldplay (a few notables, but you know them I am sure!) Foo Fighters - Stranger Things Have Happened // & assorted others U2 - Unforgettable Fire Kansas - Dust in the Wind Andrew Bird - Dark Matter Moody Blues - Gypsy Toad the Wet Sprocket - Something's Always Wrong Jethro Tull - Farm on the Freeway Sting - If I Ever Loose My Faith in You Deep Purple - Fire in The Sky Midnight Oil - Beds are Burning Enya (most are positive emotional, but some are deep, moody songs - if you like Celtic music) I'm not sure what qualifies as "dark" songs - it depends if you want to feel apocalyptic, justifiable rage at the machine, frustration about relationships, a sense of personal loss, or some ancient mood of deep and mysterious nature...
  12. It's like riding a bicycle - at first it seems very challenging, but gradually you get accustomed to it, so once you're used to the positions of the keys and the notes produced, it's really a lot like typing. Takes a while to get to that point, so keep practicing, and eventually you'll play like a pro :--) Try not to get too nervous, but work at it basically, and let your imagination be your guide at times - it's fun to reproduce others' works, but it's more fun to create something new!
  13. Welcome to Coldplaying Teo :sunny: Wish I could help you find new stuff to listen to, but I am sure others here have some recordings which will pique your interest!
  14. And just what does a Mini Cooper get tooling around trafalgar square in London?:bobby: And is it Green?
  15. It's a lovely -15C here, still and cold with some moonlight, and a good helping of snow already on the ground! Ah, the warm climate of Finland! (and Barbados - are you seriously in Barbados? ;) must be nice!) Think Deep Freeze, or living in the freezer, or dry ice on the floor when you open the door - and it's only getting colder!! IIEEEE!!!
  16. He's got something on the bank that would expose some pretty serious matters (so it sounds), so Bank of America naturally does this in response. Given the choice right now, I would trust Assange over any of the Wall Street banks / investment firms, given how they orchestrated the financial meltdown, which we're still feeling the effects from. Jefferson should have insisted on a separation of Bank and State, as well as Bank and Trading Street - given the revolving door we have in Washington and the money flowing from Wall Street to Re-election Campaigns, it's little wonder the mess we're in today, and it's ripples are acting like Tsunami waves in the United Kingdom as well right now.
  17. Bah Hamburg! OK - here's a good one - In Quzzal:D
  18. I take seriously what John Burroughs conveyed about nature, what Jerry Manders says about meaningfulness in life at a human scale, what John Denver made us all feel about nature through his music, what Jocque Custo brought to light about the oceans, the planet, the intricate and sometimes delicate web of life.
