  1. The song's title has nothing to do with daylight saving's time, and everything to do with time pieces; searching for time pieces, actually.
  2. Here it tis'!Google Image Result for http://www.panoramio.com/photos/original/2320548.jpg & [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFR2WR6s0HE&NR=1]YouTube - Peshtigo River, Crivitz, Wisconsin[/ame]
  3. Cool! Must be interesting being hoisted onto a pier like that! Here, we have shallow lakes, but usually the water deepens quick enough to launch boats.. I'll try and drum up an image somewhere..
  4. Quick - escapee alert, escapee alert!:laugh3: Sound the alarms; call out the troops! Carla, Bryce is an expert escapee - he can help you on June 1st maybe...
  5.:laugh3: My second toe is shorter than my big toe.:P And what else useful trivia? I have a Tony-The-Tiger box car.:laugh3:
  6. OOH! I like that kind of spam!!:) Be-u-ti-ful!!:sunny::sunny::sunny: Is the sand volcanic, silica, oolitic (little rounded shell bits), or something else?? What color is it??
  7. Wasshappening, Carla of the Seaside world??:laugh3:
  8. A penny for some punny money, but only if it's current currency, conducting a current, and streaming data..
  9. I sincerely hope we don't enter a scientific dark-ages; we have been given the brains we've been given to advance our collective and individual wisdom - let's not turn back the clock on this; we've got to find a better way forward. How does one reconcile what is written in a "holy book" with the reality of scientific enquiry? The problem I find with dogmatic rigid religious interpretation is that in looking at the texts for a description of how the world works, it's usually wrong, but in social settings there are many good moral tales - I just wish they would elaborate more on the "why" as to when problems arise when certain accepted rules are not held to, and to not be so absolute in the punishment end, since life is about learning and growing, for surely we all make mistakes that hurt ourselves and others from time to time. We're supposed to advance, and going backwards is not the answer. I often get the impression some in the relgious field are more into snake oil sales, or providing pleasant soothing simple answers to a complex world. As well, they seem to sell their wares by absolutes, and seek all kinds of obtuse illogical arguments to make the impossible possible. We all like a good tale, and the taller the better, but for all practical purposes mixing fantasy with reality often leads to catastrophy.
  10. Nothing's undeniable. We have a higher purpose to make the living world a better place for all, to create a heaven on earth, insofar as is possible. To attain greater heights of understanding, experience, and health for ourselves, our families, friends, neighbors, countrymen, and global citizens. To bring about greater harmony and compassion, balanced with incentives for advancement and a keen respect for all life. To wrestle with ideas in a search for higher truths.. But most of all, to allow people the freedom to choose, with whatever their spirits are motivated by, to go in the direction that most suits them. To balance the needs of society with the needs of the individual, and to allow for the 'marketplace of religion' to flourish, so long as we all respect one-another's basic rights as fellow human beings on this planet. "learn how the original creation allowed men to live over 900 years.." - there's just one catch - tooth records and bone growth records, as well as other dating techniques point to this statement of "fact" as being very, very, very unlikely. Basically, creation isn't science - it's belief. A belief in the perfection of the written records of scholars, poets, tribal leaders, priest, and others from Judea and elsewhere, written as stories, and containing like any stories all the embellishments that make them attractive and compelling to their intended audience. In my mind, it's clear: we are the culmination of all the events that got us to this point, and given our fantastic minds and abilities, we gain tremendously in the synergy of discovery of greater truths, and to dispel the false notions & cultural myths. What is simply amazing is our abilities, both individually and collectively - to deliver us from a foggy past into a clear future. 11. Alaska?? Well, with a name like Coldplay, then they must go there without a doubt!:):P
  12. snow banks always recover without a bailout!!:P
  13. Welcome:cool:
  14. Today, the snow banks melted. Yes, and that reveals all the trash people have carelessly tossed out of their car windows, along the roadsides here.. Is this the same everywhere? Anyhow, I took it upon myself to pick up the trash along the road, and UGH! I cannot believe the immense quantity of junk! Everything from butts to beer bottles, for as far as the eye can see.. Well, it seems unstoppable - 10% of Americans are pigs basically, that is when no one's looking.. :laugh3: So, I think we need to move into an era of naturally biodegradable packaging, before any more birds fill their bellies with trash, or sea turtles, or u-name-it! I guess what really gets me is the correlation with increasing trash levels to where people pull out of their lanes/driveways.. it's as though they prefer to "pig up" the area right where they live, and maybe this is akin to leaving a trail of crumbs to find one's way home? (plastic crumbs..:laugh3:) anyhow, just something I had to say..
  15. Sandy spam only, please!:P (from the beaches of El Salvador, where the sand is smoothened by the scrutching of sea turtle feet!:laugh3:) Hey, you've got chip manufacturing there?! Make solar, and then the goofy leaders won't be able to goof up the utilities!
  16. We will not cut and run! We'll outsource the war to Bangladesh, and walk away calmly..:P
  17. Good Night Carla of the Salvadoran Republic!:) (and may the gods be with you!) Umm.. on the 'people with genetic talent' business, I think that's not always true, because nobody knows what they may have had to overcome to achieve some level of comprehension. Basically, the best thing is to forget about them - just let them do their own things, and instead focus on improving your own ability, and sharing your talents with others! (it actually helps to tutor others, as you refresh and rethink what you have learned, all the while helping someone else grow in ability and gain knowledge.). I found that when I simply focused on self-improvement, a lot of the insecurities went away, and I scored much higher on tests (to the point where everone else in the class would give me angry glares for getting good grades, and upping the curve..:dozey:..) So, if you get too good Sarah, then all your class-mates will be accusing you of being one of the people who make it harder for them, and on and on the problem goes!:laugh3:
  18. So then the best way to see the concert is to get a job as a stage hand, operating the lights??
  19. Well, all the missile test does is provide cover for a dictator - it's not about attacking S. Korea or anyone else really - it's all about trying to bluff so nobody can threaten the dictator of N. Korea, as it looks to me anyway. But yes, it's a tragic situation there - all those people, turned into robots for the head of state - really bizarre.

  21. And the dopants (minor added elements) for silicon are typically boron and phosphorous. Boron is retrieved from borates commonly found in dry salt deposits; easily extracted, and with minimal environmental damage, as far as I can see. And phosphorous is quite common, but the main source for phosphorous is calcium phosphate rock (calcium apatite), mined or quarried in places like Florida. Both elements are only required in very minute quantities, so the demand from solar photovoltaics would remain low. Other important constituents include aluminum frames, and glass covers. Aluminum as an element is next in abundance to silicon, and glass is melted quartz, fused with borates, sodium and potassium salts, calcium compounds, and the like to create the desired properties. Some copper is used for the wiring, but perhaps in the future this could be replaced with aluminum; the backs of the cells are plated to ensure ease of solidering, and therein require a wickable metal with good compatability with silicon; silver was used, and may still be the option (the plating is very thin), and there is tin and other elements in the solider. While not ideal, the opening for improvement is there - technology coherent with ecology will light the way forward.
