It was mine :nice: I'm very glad you liked it actually since I had no idea what sort of music you were into. And somehow most of the songs on the mixtape were a gamble but I did stick to a certain theme, which you've noticed to be a quite, sort of indie one. But you did like it, yay! :D
Tracklist:
1. Andrew Bird - Fake Palindromes
Andrew Bird is one amazing singer. His songs are just a bliss to listen to. And this song, which you seemed to've enjoyed quite a bit :D is my very first favourite, but however his new album Noble Beast (which you must get!) is the one that was able to get me into him but now that I listen to his other album The Mysterious Production of Eggs, which this song is taken from, I see it just as beautiful and lovely. Regarding the song btw, I think it's Violin rather than Cythar, never occured to me that it could be Cythar actually. But I don't know if the Cythar could be played this fast..
2. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
The same-titled album is one true masterpiece. Don't know what else to say about it as its genre of music is pretty clear with this song but i definitely, definitely recommend it.
3. Beirut - Elephant Gun
Beirut is a band I fell in love with from my first listen. Most of their songs are folk-indie, accompanied with any sort of instrument you could imagine; horns, accordions, violins, ukuleles, cellos etc. I am a bit surprised you didn't enjoy this that much, but you might be not that into this sort of music, which I could understand. Although, if you ever fell in love with this in the time to come, don't be hesitant to download their albums :D which are so far: Gulag Orkestar and The Flying Club Cup.
4. Los Campesinos! - Death to Los Campesinos!
I recently got into this band and I must say they are one cheerful and very danceable band :D I'm very glad you liked them as well. And they're not a duet, actually. They are one big band, 7 members to be exact. Try downloading their debut album: Hold on Now, Youngster...
5. Laura Marling - Ghosts
Quite a talented new singer with such a beautiful voice. And she is only 18! Which is quite amazing in itself. Her debut album is called: Alas, I Cannot Swim.
6. Sondre Lerche - Two Way Monologue
I've downloaded his same-titled album recently for I was curious about his music. He is quite good. I could describe him as an easy listen. Didn't turn into a fan yet or anything. But what made me choose this song is that I felt it fits well with the other songs, also it has that poppish feel that makes people enjoy it, whatever the kind of music they are into.
7. Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood
I am one lucky gal with this one :D I was a bit torn between this or He Doesn't Know Why but eventually I settled with this one. Very glad it turned out to be your favourite!
8. Florence and The Machine - Girl With One Eye
I just LOVE this song. They don't have an album out yet, only randomly scattered songs on the internet. I just quite enjoy this soulful vibe to her voice and on second thought it does sound a bit familiar to Bjork's voice! The lyrics in this song are bit on the freaky side, I must admit :D Still though, I do enjoy it very much. Could they be the reason for not liking it?
9. Animal Collective - My Girls
The only reason I used this song in my mixtape is seeing MGMT on the tracklist of your mixtape hehe. I really like this song, should probably listen to the whole album again, actually. But you should try and download it, it's called: Merriweather Post Pavilion.
10. British Sea Power - Waving Flags
Great, great rock band. I just love them. This song is such a brilliant song too. Epic, indeed, as you said yourself. Glad you enjoyed it!
11. Zbigniew Preisner - Bolero, Trailer for "Red" Film
This song is from the soundtrack of Trois Couleurs: Bleu, one of my favourite films. It sort of blends well with the next song so I thought it'd be a nice way to end the mixtape
12. Elbow - One Day Like This
Elbow are such a great band. And their album The Seldom Seen Kid, which this song is from, is quite a good one. I literally enjoyed every song on it. And I'm very glad you thought it was a great ending song, I was hoping you'd notice :D
And that's it. I say again, I'm very glad you enjoyed it and I just hope I've been able to introduce you to bands that might become a favourite of yours later one
