  1. OMG this is ridiculously exciting! I have been hoping they would come again right after their 10th July 2006 Twisted Logic concert! Hoping they would have freestanding though, it's fun!
  2. Radio and voice recorder are sold separately, though I don't see the point, they just run on the power generated by iPod and nothing else.
  3. 8:48pm Singapore time! Have you ever heard of/eaten Yan-Yan?
  4. World peace (what with all the wars, it gets rather depressing) Date of your home country's independence day?
  5. I always see the SEA version in stores (because I live in SEA, duh) and tempted to get it BUT I have the X&Y album and not too keen and well, I don't know. :\
  6. I usually keep a backup on my iPod after enabling hard-disk usage. Alternatively, use a computer without automatic updates or one without iTunes, then hop on to: My Computer -> -> X-drive (depending on which drive your iPod is hooked up on) -> iPod_Control The songs are in all the separate folders. Save a copy of all the songs just in case the following step fails. Then, even though they're not named, the information should show up on your iTunes when you add them in, so rename them from there. It's much more troublesome but it works perfect.
  7. Beauty and the Beast. When I was young, I remembered hiding behind the sofa whenever the Beast was walking towards the library when Belle was about to touch the rose. I watched it obsessively I love that very much even now, I am using a Belle's highlighter, pencil and pencil case right now even though I'm turning 21. :P I used to watch it on LD (laserdisc) and did not get the DVD before it went into the Disney vault, so I bought it recently at an inflated price (used, almost US$40) on eBay. Belle is possibly the best female Disney character ever, I used to read like her, so I guess that's why I like her so much. The Beast is also possibly the best-looking creature who is not human EVER. It was disappointing when he turned human :(
  8. I would never touch Creative (though it's local and I should support local brands blah yahdiyahdiyah). My uncle and a colleague both owned Creative mp3 players before they turned to Apple because their products failed after a few weeks and it took them a while to get repaired, and after getting it back from repair, they die again. Bad products. I have had my iPod Video for 7, almost 8 months now and it's the most precious thing I have ever owned methinks. Mine is not breaking anytime soon, and I'm planning to get the extended warranty for up to 3 years, which is enough time until I change to a new generation of iPod when that happens. The earphones are rather fragile (one side died after less than 3 months) but I got replacements easily enough, I think the important thing is to buy from official partners and register it online as soon as you can. Also, I got those in-ear earphones from Apple because they have one-year warranty, which is rare for accessories (I got a SG$60 in-ear earphones previously from another brand which died after 2 months and there are no warranty despite the big-label thing, boo). I spent more than US$100 on accessories so far lol. I have heard this story of iPod Nano (the small one) snapping into half because some idiot put it in his back pocket and sat down. But it's a friend of a friend, etc, and I'm not too sure of its authenticity. Also, videos have to go through this long process of being converted into mp4 format (you need to process them through a Quicktime Pro [you have to pay] so they can work, there are other methods available though). (check out iLounge) But I still love my baby.
  9. Undecided about Harper Lee although I love 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and her comment about Gregory Peck being the perfect Atticus Finch. I feel my own dad is similar to him, albeit not a lawyer. I have a computer, cellphones and an ipod, but I still read and I certainly don't have an empty mind. :(
  10. I read mostly movie magazines: Premiere, Entertainment Weekly and the likes. I buy them if they feature someone interesting, otherwise it's just read-and-go. Also, have this insane love for Flaunt magazine (http://www.flaunt.com/). I can't describe what it is really for but the quality of the print and the pictures (I'm a sucker for also print ads) are so gorgeous I can't help but buy them sometimes. It's unfortunate they are quite pricey here. I'm female but I really hate those fashion magazines aimed at females ("Lose weight in 10 days!", "How to orgasm!", etc). I do, however, love GQ, male version of nonexistent female intelligent magazine, for their content and features. Fantastic fantastic and I do have a few copies of those, both US and UK. I don't usually buy music magazines but I do have two issues of Rolling Stones at home. They feature actors though, lol. I can't gush over musicians much, not even Coldplay :O
  11. Nope, they hurt my brains. :X Do you watch football?
  12. Dirty Dancing, I love that film even though it's cheesy and romantic!
  13. Never watched 'Star Wars' (nor felt the urge to) but 'Lord of the Rings' was my LIFE after I watched the first film, my favourite. That was in 2002 just before The Two Towers came out. I usually laugh at Legolas because his lines are pathetic (though a fan of Orlando Bloom after 'Pirates', which is rather embarrassing but it's finally fading after years, love Will Turner!) I watched the books afterwards and though I wished some parts have been filmed and put into the film, I didn't actually like the books. Tolkien had great vision but not too much of a story-teller IMO. I watched Return of the King 11 times in the cinema (including two marathons with extended editions of the first two films) and finished the extended edition with all its extras in the DVD in two days. I locked myself in the house methinks. And because I got hold of the boxset a few days before the official release date (14 December 2004!), I finished it before the rest of the world got to buy it? That was the peak of my obsession. I still watch the films every now and then but it's decreasing because of work commitments.
  14. 8/10 because I love Spongebob and his adventures with Patrick! 8 only because the usual shows are funnier somewhat. :\ Casablanca (1942).
  15. He does. I just read in the newspaper recently that he is having increased security for him and his family because he's still at Manchester United. It made me LOL so much because the article was just gearing but falling short of saying 'to protect C. Ronaldo from Rooney himself'.
  16. I don't, I'm usually asleep. Why do humans have to work for hours longer than we really should, besides for money?
  17. Ryvyan replied to Reilly's topic in The Lounge
When I was really young: a housewife. Then I went to school and wanted to be a teacher. Then I started hating kids and wanted to be a director. Then I thought that being in the film industry would have been enough for me, even as an assistant of an assistant of an assistant of someone. I don't really care, then I grew up in one day after watching 'Constant Gardener' and want to be a diplomat now. Okay not really, director definitely. I want to make film upon film upon film and make my mark in the world, then die young and be looked upon as one of the greatest director who ever lived. :)
  18. I was enjoying myself (Singapore, 10/07/2006, after World Cup!) too much to actually notice the races of people. I just know there was a whole lot of people enjoying themselves and that's the whole love I get from it. Most of the reporters get seats anyway, which steals about 26346% of the fun away from the actual thing.
  19. Thanks for the welcome! :D ergf: I really did! The sound system was possibly the best! I have also been trying to influence my colleagues to like Coldplay by blasting their songs in the office whenever I can, but they don't like English songs that much, and even if they do, they're not too impressed by British bands for some reason. Hope you'll have luck with your friends if you're trying! azlina: What time did you arrive?! I read somewhere that there was someone fourth in the queue at 11.30am :O I only arrived about 5+, 6 so I was not in a very good place. We managed to squeeze ahead though, and remained in the middle where the piano did not hide Chris, which was all good. horizon: I'm club-less, merely a Kaka and Shevchenko (former hugging latter) fan for purely shallow reasons. Though, not really because I think they are (were) a pretty duo. Actually I only started REALLY watching football after World Cup 2006, have been watching EPL for the longest time ever (Dad's influence) but not really noticing it until now which I thought was possibly the blindest thing I could ever have done. Also, respect for Cannavaro! All the commentary of the strikers being frightened off by him standing steadfast in his position made me laugh (e.g. "____ trying to get past Cannavaro here *snorts*!")
  20. I thought the crowd was amazing! Or maybe it was because I was standing in the free-standing area, but Chris said so too! I think it is quite... let's just say it is not very nice of the reporter to throw in her biased opinion of Singaporeans: ... especially when my friends and I (both true-blue Singaporeans) sang and screamed and flailed around, losing our voices at the end of the concert, and entirely enjoyed ourselves. Not a very fair report, considering she decided to go for a SEAT instead of the free-standing, which sold out way later than the others. Also, from what I saw, the people by the side all were standing! I think that (local) newspaper reports mentioned that people were prevented from leaving their seats due to security issues, and I felt sorry for these people. But standing up? There should be no issue on that at the Indoor Stadium, and I think that either the reporter was extremely unlucky to have encountered such problems, or she went to a different concert. On the encore cries, the standing people were screaming it. On singing and dancing along, we were all doing that. The dancing part might not be so obvious because the entire crowd surged forward the second the screen lit up with the countdown. I would be taking offence at little things and not waving my hands in the air like crazy if I didn't care.
  21. Hello guys, been lurking around here but never signed up till now because I decided to comment on the fans/concertgoers' behaviour at the Singapore leg of Twisted Logic 2006 (referring to this thread). Obviously from thread title, I am from Singapore. Their 10th July 2006 concert was amazing (I was standing in the middle but not quite near the front) and we went absolutely crazy when Chris told us we were an amazing crowd, and we sang along to almost every single song. LOVELOVELOVE for the band, they cured me of immediate World Cup withdrawal for the night and the following week, which I thought was impossible. I badly need a Coldplay "fix" (sing with me: "and I would try.... to fix you!" ASDFGHHJKL:!!!), can't wait for information on their next tour to surface. Also, a little off-topic but I bought their tour T-shirt in a size way too huge for me and I am so terribly upset (even though I knew it would happen, it is a male size L afterall). Would appreciate it if anyone would point me in the direction of anyone who wants to trade or sell theirs. Otherwise, I shall wear it to sleep and that is a waste. :( On Coldplay and MakeTradeFair, it made me think more than the shallow points and more on the pros and cons of a free market. I was previously quite for it and the Singapore government does have a few of those signed here and there. I must admit that my support for artistes (classic and modern Hollywood artistes, bands, singers...) increases by approximately 7537 times every time I know their involvement (along with knowledge) with charities and efforts to make issues known to the rest of the world through their fame, thus accessibility. I hope all that random stuff above is not boring you, but I thought it would make for more interesting replies (should there be any) instead of the usual "hello, welcome" etc. ;)
