Agree with you guys, I keep playing Mylo Xyloto but lately I've found myself playing Viva or Rush of Blood just as much! :confused:

Ok, here's how I see it: After X&Y, there was absolutely no one telling us what was going to happen until in 2007, they launched that timeline website which was great because they kept adding new things to it and everytime a little star in 2007/08 came on, you knew it was going to be about the album. Prospekt wrote about it with honesty and great expectation. You could immediately feel his giddiness. Then, after months and months Violet Hill came out which was absolutely different than anything they'd done before, but just as brilliant as well. Then the video came out, the songs, one by one, Death will never Conquer, Lost?, A Spell a Rebel Yell, LIT instrumental...that whole period was one of unbelievable excitement, and then they added some massive tour dates all around the world. The album was brilliant as well when it came out, it was supported with at least some b-sides or live versions on singles (apart from Strawberry Swing)! Then only five months after the album release, the EP came out, and then Lhuna, then The Goldrush in Feb, then the live album 'LeftRightLeftRightLeft.' EVERY LITTLE THING WAS PLANNED TO PERFECTION! What do we have from this era? Ok the festivals were a great idea in my opinion, Every Teardrop video, the song...inch perfect! Raising expectation maybe wasn't. Everyone thought Coldplay had come up with another Viva which would have been great if it was, but it wasn't! The album's fine, I like it and play it often (although I don't know why the interludes are there at all, don't really fit I think) but this era has had a lot less music to offer and also fewer tour dates. Maybe there will be an EP - I hope. Plus there's no C-stage, perhaps for logistic reasons but anyone who's gone to a concert will know the difference between being 200 yards away from the action or being at the front. Also, one of the best songs of the era, has gone on to a short three track EP, when it might have even been a single. Moving to Mars is genuinely a great song acknowledged by many fans and it hasn't had the promotion it deserved. It's a shame because even though Charlie Brown is getting a lot of attention this song isn't as good as what they've done before, and neither is Princess of China. I love the general look of the era, even if it's only an update from Viva. But it just doesn't feel as good. Just how I see it.

I think too much of a burden was placed on Coldplay after such an enormous success with Viva.

Mylo Xyloto's great, but this era generally doesn't feel as revolutionary as the last one. Which is logical when you consider they couldn't go through a bigger change than X&Y to Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. There was a huge difference in the sound and that's why we're not at all surprised at what they're trying with Mylo; yes, some songs sound strangely new (Princess, Up With the Birds), but mostly they're influenced by R&B and hip hop beats, which is mainstream and more easy to like. Viva was more eager to give you an adventure.

The band have been awfully quiet about all new singles really. Apart from shooting videos.

It would be great. I am, to be honest, a bit disappointed by how many songs they have put out compared to Viva era.

Another reference to Car Kids in the Charlie Brown video (Will's shirt at 3.47 min). I really wonder if we'll ever hear the EP....

I think the likeliest is the idea of an EP (shorter than Prospekt's March anyway, three ,four songs max.). We know there are some songs like Car Kids, Great Expectations and Tomorrow that have kind of survived the editing process as they have been included in that list of songs on the songwriting website (maybe someone's not as lazy as I to check it again). Plus, there is always a matter of finishing those songs, ie. mixing, mastering, since they haven't done that yet. I don't know, but I'm really looking forward to it - what I am afraid though, is that Car Kids has already received a lot of attention, maybe too much for an unreleased song, and we're already raving about it even at the stage when we haven't even heard it. It might not even be such a good song. Famous Old Painters was, granted, a good song, but given that hype at that time, and after listening to the instrumental, was the song really that good? Whatever Coldplay do, the strongest material rarely doesn't go out in the big wide world.

Davide Rossi has just tweeted: "Good to be back in London, good to work with the boys again." What do you think it is? A new song Roadie talked about or will we get the legendary Car Kids EP?

Judging from what's going on, we've got another three months before a EP could happen.

I sometimes wonder how Famous Old Painters would fare had it been on Viva or released in any form at all....it's a very nice song but people have had unbelievable expectations about it and I'm afraid it's the same with Car Kids...the song might have gone through so many different phases and forms that it might not be close to what it was in 2009. No doubt a good song but a great one? All best songs get released on the actual album, I think. But there might be an EP....

The new song isn't Car Kids; that one has existed in several different forms since early 2009 or even 2008. This is a NEW song. However, I think they will release an EP in 2012. In comparison to Viva era, we have less songs, half of what we got last time.

Don't let it break your heart guys. My nearest concert is a four and a half hours drive from Slovenia, but I'm still gonna do it! Btw, the Anchorman did say 'the dates announced SO FAR' - so there might be more! Or better, there must be more, otherwise this is ridiculous, Viva La Vida tour visited a lot more cities.

I miss Strawberry Swing a bit, and Glass of Water too. :/ But otherwise, 'A Daylight' is a great addition nonetheless.

One that has keyboards and guitars on it...but let's say that it maybe wasn't part of the original arrangement; the only possible songs are: Spies, Sparks, High Speed and We Never Change! Other songs have been played in recent years...

Car Kids is a real song, which was mentioned in an interview by the band! So it's NOT UATW or any other already heard song!

Ronnie, any idea when it might be released? A Charlie Brown b-side perhaps? I remember Debs answered to a Coldplayer that Paradise wouldn't have any b-sides. And an EP so soon after the release of the album is improbable.

Haha if we can get Car Kids, that would be great.
