  1. As for the songs, who knows. They've been keeping secrets well, also will they record at The Bakery/The Beehive again? It seems with all the time Chris is spending in LA, this has been more of a hub for the rest of the band, but again I don't know the ins/outs, so it might not be this way.
  2. As someone who enjoyed this era (and the tour especially) massively, I feel there is more great things to come from Coldplay. However, we don't know who the band will work with for production, that does make a difference (Stargate for example). I also believe two years is a minimum time we won't be hearing from them. I'm sure they'll want to surprise people the most they can and whatever plans are in the pipeline, they will not be executed prematurely.
  3. [Verse 1: Chris Martin] My father said never give up son Just look how good Cassius had become Mohammed, Mahatma, and Nelson Not scared to be strong [Pre-Chorus: Chris Martin] Now you could come and just say "I'm right" Or never be no one..........(?) Or you could come and see the wind that blows (?) But if you keep on dancing all night long [Verse 2: Chris Martin] My father said never give up son Just look how the ............(?) Or [?] Not scared to let trouble (?) [Pre-Chorus: Chris Martin] Now you could go to see me right Or never be known [?] Or you could go [?] Keep on dancing all night long Yeah you could be [Chorus: Chris Martin] Yeah, you could be, someone special Feels like burning and [?] Someone special [?] Feels like burning and [?] Haha just gave up after half distance. It's just too indistinguashable to hear anything.
  4. Got back from the concert earlier. This was my 7th Coldplay concert, with great energy as always but in my opinion, the setlist could do with a reshuffle. A general reshuffle. Not that any song they played is bad, but the likes of Politik, Strawberry Swing, 42, etc. need to be included at some point. Even See You Soon was a great addition when it got on the setlist. As for the video for Something Just Like This, I am not sure they will actually use much of the film from Munich. Chris first said to all of us that they'll play it twice, then never did. Matt Whitecross (whom Chris introducted to the audience) told him something after the take, and the child, dressed just like in that album art for SJLT, with a cape and everything, never appeared after the first take again. Something was clearly not working out well, because Chris had come for the little guy after the first take but then appeared back without him. So, they might use some of the material from here, but my two cents are on their filming it somewhere else too...
  5. Fish fell out of water Bird stuck on the ground Chaos giving orders Everything is upside down Whole world's on a fly.....??? Oh I wonder where they'll go, ohh Trouble's on the outside, I know (not too sure) So now, all I can think about is you All I can think about is you We're ........whole..., to do (difficult to decipher) So lone (???) than one alone poor shoe (pretty sure it's what I hear) I wanna walk into 'So I can 'So I can 'Cause all I can 'Cause all I can do 'Cause all I can do [solo] All I can think about is you 'Cause all I can 'Cause all I can All I can think about is you Oh, it is the only thing that is true
  6. The end of Hypnotised reminds me a bit of the unreleased Famous Old Painters' ending. Does anyone else hear it too?
  7. Hi guys, I'm with those who think this will be an extension to AHFOD. It doesn't make sense for it to be anything else, since it's an EP. I'm sure there won't be a general change of direction for now.
  8. It seems like Coldplay know they need to come up at least with a couple new songs since this tour will last almost two years. All in all, we're in for a treat! Release time I'd say will be before the Asian dates (February, March).
  9. Not believing for a second that the EP will only have two new songs. Prospekt's March had 4 (GoW, Rainy Day, Prospekt's March, Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground) if I remember correctly, plus a long version of LiT and Postcards From Far Away we knew from live performances. Chance is one or two of these new songs is brand new, others are (maybe) leftovers from before plus different (longer, etc.) versions of the songs we already know about.
  10. Surely the EP will be released before April. I can imagine 4 new original songs in there combined with 2-3 songs consisting of alternative versions of already known ones...
  11. The longer hair is back! <3
  12. A Rush of Blood to the Head as a request song...this is the most joyous tour ever!
  13. This tour is the best simply because of the unpredictability. Just WOW!
  14. Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends will go down, I'm sure, as either the best or one of the best albums Coldplay ever made. A Rush Of Blood to the Head to me comes a close second, simply because it's also very coherent and has excellent lyrics. I agree with everyone who said that everything about Viva was perfect - the choreography, the web design, the timeline leading to the release, the concerts themselves were longer, the tour was a heck of a lot longer than anything else before or later - first time we saw the c stage happen, and experimenting with different styles and different people. Also the Prospekt diaries, how great was that, or Roadie 42# blogs! It opened Coldplay up to new possibilities and they'd never have written the three albums after that if it had not been for Viva like it was. To me it's just astonishing how much material was recorded and used, even for other artists like Natalie Imbruglia. Even Famous Old Painters sounds great, the instrumental of course. And Prospekt's March was a well done EP of all those songs that weren't recorded for Viva in time. I don't know, maybe I'm a bit tired of Chris' lyrics nowadays, although I feel they own the new album still (Everglow, Amazing Day, Up & Up). But the creativity from that era is unparalled.
  15. In my opinion, the guy who said Coldplay had kind of reached their peak with Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, has a point. That was a revolutionary time for the band. Brian Eno, Markus Dravs, Davide Rossi, all characters who made them think differently and do different music. With Mylo Xyloto they kind of ran away with the idea of trying "anything", while Ghost Stories was in my opinion a brilliant album if you look at the context in which it was made. It was a bit more quiet, a bit more solitary but since it was Chris at his earnest, it was brilliant I thought. Maybe AVHOD kind of has no real identity just yet because as a lot you have pointed out, Coldplay have tried more or less every genre a bit. This new album is also a bit wacky design-wise, on one hand they've had the paint and color there since Viva, on the other hand it's hard to please everybody. Maybe if they've said, let's go and dress like folks in India and make an Asia inspired record, maybe more would have appreciated it. I'm going to enjoy the songs because there are quite a few on there that they got right. But as an album I personally rate it lower than AROBTTH, Viva and Ghost Stories. I'd give it 6/10 so far.
  16. But as I write this, there are some songs that will stand the test of time, like Amazing Day, AOAL (a bit like Every Teardrop is a Waterfall to me) and maybe Everglow (although it might be the next "Warning Sign")
  17. I think this album is a venture into new, exciting territory for the boys. Maybe they try a bit too hard sometimes to embrace a genre (X Marks the Spot, Army of One, Hymn for the Weekend - although it's catchy). I don't feel it's a bad album at all. But I do feel a few until now, were better and context-wise, I feel Ghost Stories was a better album as well.
  18. I have to honestly say I've never felt so contradicted by a Coldplay album. Some songs are outstanding, like "Everglow" or "Amazing Day," both great ballads by any standard. Then comes Up & Up for me, one of the best songs on the album, with some great solos by both Jonny and Noel. Also Adventure of a Lifetime, and A Head Full of Dreams with its U2 power. But others are just going to have to be growers for me...the Beyonce song, Birds, Fun, and also Army of One are either strangely produced or sound a bit repetitive. I mean, I'll go to the gigs, be there and know every word and I'm sure I'll get to love it in the end, but to me I don't know, I've not felt the mighty buzz this time. Would go as far as saying this is not their most experimental album either! That were by far and above Viva and also Mylo. Ps - I would rate Ghost Stories a bit higher than this one too.
  19. I am feeling like 2008, 2011, 2014 all over again... but I have to say this album will be a grower. Right now only a couple of songs are outstanding in my view. A Head Full of Dreams, Everglow, AOAL, Army of One, Amazing Day, and Up & Up
  20. WTF to Hymn for the Weekend! The chorus is great but the song is just wtf.
  21. "The falling of snow" makes an appearance in Everglow...there we have it :)
  22. After listening to these snippets, one thing is 100% certain - this is their "I don't give a s?it about the genre we're playing," there's so much different stuff! Every song different from the rest. AHFOD reminds of U2, Birds of Magic, Hymn for The Weekend sounds more R'nB than anything Coldplay have ever recorded (and that might be a good thing!), Everglow sounds like a Coldplay classic, very Coldplayesque, AOAL sounds a bit Indian and electronic at the same time, Fun again sounds like a mashup of Coldplay and U2 instrumentals, but in a good way! Looking forward to the rest of snippets!
  23. Miha replied to getithom's topic in Up&Up
The song's final part reminds me of that unfinished song they were doing in 2009 (Southbank Show). Anyway, looks a perfect final song!!
  24. Miha replied to Coeurli's topic in Fun
A few of you will notice this I'm sure; Coldplay recorded a song called Fun six years ago around Viva time - Natalie Imbruglia sang on it and included it on her album Come to Life. But this song is I'm sure completely new.
