  1. Only a couple times, and usually the moment I realize that I'm dreaming is just before I wake up. The majority of my dreams seem like real life, which makes waking up a real bitch.

  3. I somehow ended up singing carols with a few friends today, so check me in.
  4. isn't there a hint you should be getting?
  5. they're not actually baptists.
  6. F.C. scores! :edit: haha, look at them go...
  7. Yeah, he's considered Ambient/Drone Post-rock in that he creates ambient music, usually with layered and looped guitar effects. This live clip is kind of an indication of that... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdzCnht_uxM]YouTube - Eluvium - Under the Water It Glowed[/ame] If you want dramatic crescendo's of the EITS or TYDY variety, you should probably look elsewhere (though he opened for Explosions In The Sky on a few tours) But he does create interesting textures that kind of splits the gap between Brian Eno and traditional post-rock. Me too. I've always wanted to go to a real post-rock show, I like that they're usually in much smaller, intimate venues.
  8. Haha, I've secretly hoped that someday someone would ask me that. He (it's just one guy) changes a lot between albums, but I would probably recommend starting with Talk Amongst the Trees and then moving to either Copia or Similes from there. Copia is probably his best known because it's more regal and has a few popular piano based tracks (If you like his piano playing, "An Accidental Memory in Case of Death" is a lovely album of just piano".) Whereas Similes is the first album where he sings, so its a lot more structured and accessible than his previous albums. I recommend sampling these before downloading/buying. If you prefer the sound of Talk Amongst The Trees, you'll probably love 'Lambent Material' and 'When I live by the Garden By The Sea'. The avi I had before is of his latest release: http://eluvium.bandcamp.com/track/static-nocturne which is pretty much an hour of static, distortion and water samples with piano occasionally mixed in. A lot of fans consider it his best project since 'Talk'. To simplify things, I'll just post a track from each release that kind of encompasses the 'sound' of that particular album for you to leaf through whenever... Both of those band's latest albums should be about finished. Explosions In The Sky have hardly mentioned their next album at all, they only post something new on their website every few months and its usually just a show date. They've never gone this long without releasing something, so I hope we hear something soon.
  9. Red Bulls were knocked out of the playoffs tonight. Exciting, though I was somewhat hoping to see Henry against Donovan and Beckham in the final.
  10. Well that's what I'm saying...makes no difference to me either, but I know a lot of people who get easily offended by one word and not the other.
  11. Never thought I'd spot a GYBE avi on coldplaying.
  12. The thing is, people who swear at people all the time for little to no reason aren't offensive because of the words they're using, but because they're self-centered douchebags. Even if they weren't using 'offensive' words they would still be disliked because of their offensive character.
  13. Some guys in my dorm are kindergarteners when it comes to language. What annoys me most is the whole deal of substituting words like 'fuck' and 'shit' for 'screw' and 'crap', which express the exact same ideas but are for some reason considered more appropriate. I understand it's rude and disrespectful to use the 'harsher' words around seniors or people of authority. But around people of your own age, there's no reason why anyone should take offense, particularly when said words aren't used to attack individuals, but to express one's own distress. People need to grow up.
  14. Reilly is an insightful man.
  15. The Inter-Tottenham game was really intense. I had it going parallel with the Bremen game which was tragic and depressing.
  16. A few days ago I stole a chili pinata from our campus taco bell. We planned the operation for weeks, and one of the employee's chased me out to the getaway car.
  17. Happah Burfday Michaela!
  18. Yeah, I must apologize for that. I've been either distracted or lazy towards certain things outside my classes this month. So I've neglected to respond quickly to some of your messages or tune in for your ustream playlist parties, as awesome as the setlists have been. I did get Halcyon Digest the other day btw, which I wouldn't have gotten without the song you sent me. It's really great. Anyway, enjoy your birthday!
  19. HEYYY!!!!!!!!!!HAPPYBIRTHDAYMIKEY!!!!!!
  20. Agreed, also in regard to feminist literary analysis, history etc. etc. The reason people find the term 'feminist' annoying is because today there isn't anything unique about saying that women and men should have equal rights. That's pretty much a given, just like it's the majority consensus that different races should have the same rights. 'Feminism' implies a sense of being a minority opinion, when it makes more sense today to instead focus on on those who disagree with equal rights among people. Most people don't see any point in calling themselves 'feminists' when that's the common opinion. Because that simple definition has become virtually obsolete, it's now come to refer to a type of absurd female pride and paranoia towards anything that might resemble male antagonism to female ambitions.
  21. lol, is it?
