I'm listening to it on their myspace page, and I actually quite like it. It's more mature, holistically structured, and I find myself really empathizing with his voice. The feel of the instruments is beautiful and the composition of the songs gives a great sense of space which I didn't get with the last two albums.

Post-rock musicians typically produce instrumental music. Though the shorthand I've always been told is: The use of rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes. However, the definition is so broad that the term by itself is about as useful as classifying 'rock bands'. Your classic post-rock bands are like Tortoise, Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy you, Mogwai etc. which resemble typical rock bands in all things except the structure and style of their music. With the influence of Sigur Ros and Godspeed you black emperor there's become a pretty thin line between post-rock, post-classical and minimalist ambient. Generally if a band still uses modern guitars, percussion or keyboards, or if their musical goals or style is too modern to fit as classical, they're generally grouped into post-rock. Bands like [The] Slowest Runner [in All The World] (that aren't quite rock or classical) are a good example of this. Then you have artists like The American Dollar, Trentemoller and Arms and Sleepers that skid the line between electronica, trip-hop and post-rock (it's debatable whether any of these artists are actually original enough to 'transcend' normal electronica). Though it would be more accurate to give them another name like post-trip hop, some fans would just consider that a subcategory of post-rock because the aforementioned bands all share similar musical goals. Similarly, Library Tapes, Fennesz, Eluvium, and Stars Of The Lid bear no immediate relation to explosions in the sky and Sigur Ros but are still often categorized as such because some don't define post-rock so much by the way it sounds, but by the way the artist's approach their music.
