iTunes VLV pre-order - GET VIVA LA VIDA (SONG) NOW!
actually, sorry to have to make such a comparison, but even more so than 'ten feet high' i think the violin in vlv sounds A LOT like the violin in the freemason's remix of beyonce's ring the alarm. not sure what influenced the freemason's mix (since it's very different to their previous work) but it wouldn't surprise me if it similarly influenced this song... love this song more everytime i hear it

A Spell A Rebel Yell
i would say it's a b-side for a reason, but some of their best songs are b-sides.. hopefully it's just a grower.. it's certanitly got nothing on violet hill...

Violet Hill Is Poor
That eno-hater is funny. Do you know him or your just reeeally not a fan? I really like VH. Its not classic coldplay, but it dosen't claim to be either. And as different as it is from what we're used to, it still has enough coldplayness to like. I don't understand those who want Coldplay to get rid of the piano and falsetto completely... those two elements define some of CP's most incredible moments. It's like asking an olympic runner to have their legs amputated but still win races.. Keep in mind (incase it hasnt already been said) we were told VH was the strongest of the new songs, so i doubt that VLV will be as "out there" in the same way that VH is.

I'm afraid I won't like VLVODAAHF
My 5c worth... Putting aside the fact that there are more pressing issues in the world to worry about, since we wouldnt be on this forum if we didn't care a little... When i first heard that LP4 would be completely different, i was a little disappointed too and i didn't understand why they would change the formula when it was working so well until i started reading some of the reviews that x&y got... and it sounds like the band was heavily criticised for staying within their comfort zone. So i've come to the realisation that if they don't try new things then they'll never grow as a band. and growth is not a bad thing, it just means their new album will take us on a journey to places we've never been before.. perhaps places we'll love, though we never knew they existed... Agree with many of the comments above... at the end of the day, its the same band with the same sense for good music. not much to worry about when you're putting your faith in four people who have never let you down before...

The Official "Famous Old Painters" Thread
i wouldn't be surprised if it is the same song with a different name. didn't we hear somewhere that someone was pissed off that they had to change the artwork due to tracklisting changes? maybe that was what changed... on the other hand, didn't we establish that we could see 'viva la vida' on that first list of possible songs for LP4 - which i believe was released before they announced 'famous old painters' - which was scribbled out (suggesting that it was always the title)?

songs you WISH coldplay would sing
i always wanted coldplay to do 'all out of love' by air supply... in my head it sounds something epic like fix you

Still "the greatest piece of music ever"?
Hey everyone! I'm glad to see you're all as pumped as i am for the new album... And while i've been losing sleep (in excitement) over it, a thought crossed my mind so i thought i'd share it, and please let me know if this topic has already been dealt with... A while ago we kept hearing that this would be the album that "everyone would remember Coldplay by", and "the greatest piece of music ever written" and that it would contain a song that "everyone had to hear before they die", but i haven't heard much along those lines recently. in fact we've been hearing quite the opposite - chris saying things like "not everyone's gonna like it" and "if it's shit (even though it's not...)". I'm just wondering if the band is: (a) not talking it up as much so that we can be the judges of how fantastic it is, or (b) retreating from optimism into realism after having realised that, as great as it is, it's not the best piece of music ever. I'm hoping that either it's (a), or there's just as much hype and somehow i managed to overlook it... Anyone have anything to say about it? Also, even though it's probably abit early to make the call, any thoughts on which song might be the one that we all have to hear before we die?

Violet Hill To Be Released As 'Download Only' In Three Weeks Time
in answer to your question Fixed, i made inquiries at a Virgin megastore the other day about upcoming Coldplay releases and apparantly they don't sell physical singles in most places (at least in Australia) anymore... now you go into a store and they just burn the single track onto a blank disc for you.... i was so surprised by what i had just heard to even ask whether you get any artwork or anything with it. if its a cost cutting trend, it wouldnt surprise me if its going on in other countries too.. defeats the purpose of buying the single if you ask me.. such a shame...
