Well if you give audacity a shot you can take a sample of the noises you want to eliminate and then it will be removed from the entire recording :cool:

Try playing difficult songs really slowly at first.

It may not be your mic that's bad - are you in a proper recording space? If it's just an ordinary room then you'll get some hissing through the mic.

The original paint job on guitars is poisonous - be careful if you strip it back to the wood.

Have a look at Audacity, it's free. Behringer Guitar Link is another good option. My mic came out of a cereal box :P

If you're self taught you'll get a good ear. But that's only if you figure out the songs for yourself - without sheet music. I guess it doesn't really matter if you take lessons or learn music yourself. Why do people think music is so complicated? :confused:

There's only 12 notes you can choose from, so it's not difficult. Once you've got all the notes it's a piece of cake to work out what the chords are.

You just match the notes up with the correct pitch of the song.

I got a strat too... they're awesome!!! As for a buying a guitar - squire is a good place to start for a cheap copy of a top range model. The ones they make these days are almost identical to the real thing, they just don't say 'fender' :cool:

yeah I have this problem too ;) Maybe practice when there's no one home? Or tell people what you're doing and just use headphones? Mind you, loud guitars thru headphones ruins hearing....

Well I play piano music on guitar, bit odd but I love it. Theory will help you play by ear because it gives you more knowledge :rolleyes: so when you are zooming around on the neck you have a basic idea of what will work and what won't. Google "notes on the guitar neck" because then you can see how the guitar is just like the piano in terms of notes and things... makes it simpler if you've started with the piano first. Also, ultimate-guitar.com is great for learning popular songs. Personally I don't like guitar how-to books - they cost a lot and are down right confusing. The internet would be my first call ;)

Not quite sure what u said there :P Guitar theory is in part the notes on the neck and basic structure of the chords (i.e. triads etc). These 2 things relate to each other. If you know the notes you can play anything...

Here's how I play the acoustic version Intro E B 10--7--3--2 G D 9---5--0 A ------------0 E Verse chords are D, A, G, D...alternate between playing top E open and fretted. Chorus is Bm, G, D, A x 2 then Bm, A, G. The Bm is wrong, the chord is actually E: 2, B: 3, G: 4, D: 4. Not sure about the last part. Hope this helps.
