I hope you're right. But I don't think they will release anything for at least a month or so. I know they won't release anything this week. If they did, that would be so pointless because they would have missed a chance to play it last week at the iheartradio festival. Why wait an extra week? The only reason I can think of is because they want to play it at the Global Citizens Festival. Maybe they had that planed all along and the iheartradio festival was just a warm up? Also used to tease us with new outfits. Who knows, but I'm not expecting anything til we get an official announcement, or some teasing. We know something is coming soon cause of the video shoot. So I would say mid October or around there. Until then, we continue to speculate about each passing Monday and Friday, until we have eventually driven ourselves crazy. And as for the setlist for the GCF this Saturday, I expect nothing but hits. Probably gonna be the same set actually. Better to not get our hopes up again.

Unfortunately I think it is too. I am going to expect just the hits for next weekend's set. It would be great to finally hear it, but I don't think it will happen. One thing is for sure though, something is definitely coming soon. They wouldn't shoot a video, to release it 3 months later. If we get nothing in the next 2 weeks, then October will surely bring something.

You bring up a fantastic point. I have a small theory though. Chris went to India in July, and I'm thinking he got a lot of inspiration from that. We have also heard rumors that the new single is going to feature an Indian artist, and that Coldplay might bring him or her out for the Global Citizens Festival. It could be that Coldplay release the single next week, and then announce that all of the proceeds, or most likely a percentage, will be going towards Global Citizens. It would be a nice charity act. Also, going back to my other theory that the record label made them perform last night, it could be because Coldplay want to donate all proceeds from the new single toward the cause. This would obviously leave nothing for the higher ups. So that's why Coldplay agreed to do the iheartradio festival, in order to make some money back. In dong that, they knew they didn't want to play anything new there, but wanted to tease us with new outfits, new stage setup, etc. Its just a thought. I have no solid evidence to go off of. Just trying to make sense of last night lol.

Before playing in NY, they played a show on the 29th at Mohegan Sun. Which I was lucky enough to go to. Anyway, I would like to see an official announcement soon. Next week would be nice. Either way, them wearing new outfits and having a new stage setup is definitely a good sign and it shows that things are certainly moving forward. I think the end of October is the latest we will see a single, but I honestly think its gonna drop before that, with the video dropping in October.

Exactly right. If they had teased something, then I would be disappointed. To be honest I was at first, but after letting it sink in and thinking about it, I'm good. At least we got to see the band perform again, and with new outfits and a new stage design. Also with some new, very cool, lyrics. Now looking forward to next Saturday to see what that holds. We know it will be in much better quality, and a with a better crowd. So already looking a lot better imo.

Yeah I believe so. But Coldplay could still have been on the fence about it, and were forced to do it. Honestly, we could all be looking too much into this. They could have wanted to do exactly what they did. Old hits with a new look and stage presence. I think when they announced they were playing this festival, we all were thinking the chances of a new song were good. But after the video shoot last week, I think we all got really excited and that drove our expectations even higher. We thought for sure they would do a new song. But alas, they did not play one. Anyway, we shouldn't be too mad. After all, Coldplay never said anything about a new song. So that's on us.

I said the same thing. My guess was the label basically forced them to, due to a lack of a GS tour. "$12 million for a 20 min set? Yeah you guys are gonna be doing it." That's the only thing I can think of.

I hope so. But really don't want to expect anything as I was pretty disappointed tonight. At least the GCF will be on TV, so it will be better quality. If I had my choice, I would want them to announce the single on Monday, release it Friday, and then debut it live on Saturday. We will see through.

The only reason I can think of why they did this, was because the record label or other executives forced them to. The lack of a huge tour from GS left their pockets empty. If Coldplay play this festival, they get $12 million. Yup, they pretty much tell Coldplay that they are doing it. I honestly can't think of any other reason why they would stop work on the album, come out with new clothes, a new set, and just for a one off gig. Anyone else care to guess?

Very true. Chris was definitely not his complete self tonight. Nerves perhaps? After all this is their first live performance in 9 months. Also, the crowd just isn't their crowd. Compare that crowd to that of an official Coldplay concert crowd. Which is better? This just wasn't a good setting.

I can honestly say I am shocked we didn't get anything new. I was dead wrong. But I'm kinda glad because Chris had a hard time singing tonight. I want the first time I hear the song to sound the absolute best.

Happened to me. Literally perfect through an hour and a half of nonsense, then as soon as Chris and Jonny come on, it freezes. I was super pissed. Still am.
