U2
I love this clip, basically the guy convinces his gf he knows Bono then she insists she meets him so he takes her to a country house to try and fool her. Classic bit of comedy below from one of the best tv shows ever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbAPXkQMd_s

why do some people listen to "simple music"?
You seem to appreciate music and reason almost in sync to me. But i've never tried Death cab.

Radiohead Survivor - Kid A - Round 1
Bah at Kid A its got about 4 great songs :Idiotique, HTDC, Optomistic and the national anthem, the rest is just progressive filler exception of MPS. This album is about as disjointed as Amesiac and that aint cool. Tree fingers is the thing that ruins this album the most for me, it goes absolutely nowhere as does Everything in the right place (my second most disliked)

why do some people listen to "simple music"?
No ignorance is the word, people just dont understand sophisticated music but the one that annoys me more is people who can't handle sadness in their music. But some people just like what they've heard before, I just wish the people with bad music tastes wouldnt feel the need to critisise works like Kid A and Urban Hymns. But I dont agree theres an answer between good and bad music there is personal preferance, I personally find every Beatles album other than Abbey Road annoying and to the music elitists thats blasphamy.

Yes, Ive tried to get people into Radiohead and most of the time they dont make the effort. Not that I don't like simple music (Gorillaz for example) I just always find more intelligent music automatically better.

The Oasis Thread
its funny how Be Here Now is consistantly seen as their worst album, from what ive heard its classic Oasis, the clueless band who make great feel good rock anthems. Oh and I can't see the artwork.

Could this be the best year for British music ever?
pick up The Boy with no name or the man who album wise. Or download Sing, Flowers in the window, Side, Pipe dreams, Why does it always rain on me and expecially Selfish Jean. I guarentee after this you'll be well into the brilliance of Travis.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
They cancelled it i think, check the official site. Anyhow looks like Febuary for the new live album http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Haarp_Tour:_Live_from_Wembley Supposibly this is the track listing, a lot of good stuff there that wasnt on hullabaloo would be great to put out a load of B-sides with it. U2
The Joshua Tree is their best arena rock album, Achtung baby sees them experimenting with new sounds and they make a brilliant album from it. All you can't leave behind is great too, other than that they dont have albums Id recommend. Except their best ofs.

Muse Survivor - Absolution - Round 8
that was hard, Ive played most of em to death though :(
-
Stereophonics
Those 2 albums I dont own, often regarded as the less good ones. So I cant say.
-
Could this be the best year for British music ever?
The 3rd album was going to be a soundtrack to a movie and I dunno about Blur, Damon and Coxon are bored of each other now.
-
Stereophonics
Theres 6 cd's so far and a live LP. The best albums are Performance and Cocktails and Word gets around absolutely fantastic albums those 2. After that they got a bit worse studio wise and turned into a sometimes boring hard rock band. I personally find their last 2 albums a bit dull but SLVO flows really well compared to Pull the Pin.

Could this be the best year for British music ever?
IMO yes and heres why... Prospekt - Coldplay Unintitled followups by Franz Ferdinand, Travis, Snow Patrol, Oasis, Keane, Feeder, Gorrilaz, Arctic Monkeys and The Verve and maybe something by U2 or Muse. Over seas theres some stuff too such as Weezer and Greenday. Should be a great year for music, maybe the best.

Anyone ever heard of 'Shoegaze Rock'?
People say the Bends was brit pop, I can't see how personally. When I think of brit pop I think of bands heavy of regional accent, sneering away about life of the working class in a happy, over produced poppy way. Closest RH came to anything of the sort was Let Down which wasn't very dancable. OK Computer stood out to Americans as being a none Brit pop release from the UK, if Radiohead sang something like boys and girls or Common people Id propably say they were brit pop, but their big 90's hits were Paranoid andriod and Street Spirit.

Who's gonna be massive in 2008?
Snow Patrol are coming along again Christmas 08, hopefully they're break ww!

Muse Survivor - Absolution - Round 5
Propably the best opener for an album ever (only Hail to the Theif and Urban Hymns have such great openers as this) Problem is, it reeks of being an opener so much that it can't be listened to me as a lone track, it just works as an opener to Absolution but its a track I wouldnt put on the mp3. Its not the most appealing track on Absolution and I think thats why despite being absolute quality it wasnt a single.

I always through of Pablo Honey as RH jumping on the punk/grunge band wagon.

The Franz Ferdinand Thread
I can't wait for this one, most bands peak with brilliance at album 3. Franz have perfected the 3 minute pop song, if they dont change anything I would love it. Apperently tho theres electronic influences now as well as much dirtier lyrics. Date is still TBC 2008. My fav songs are The Fallen, Matinee, Take me Out, Micheal, Walk Away and Outsiders.

Travis
What kinda tours they doing? Me and my Mum are desperate for them to go to Northern England. Oh and do Travis sell out arenas? or even do em?
-
The Feeder Thread
Believe so they have new songs on their myspace apperently. So if anyone has Pushing the Senses hows it fair up to comfort in sound?
-
Travis
Wow, I just assumed they wouldn't even be talking about it yet let alone posting lyrics. Any tendetive release date?
-
The Feeder Thread
LOL, they arnt so modern are they, and theres not one on Pushing the senses either. Its on amazon used for 60p with echo park for 40p. To be rather blunt im going to buy them BOTH and spend £1 on them (thats cheap like you could get two bus tickets for that, and when you add postage you propably could still.) Still what have I to expect from these two albums? more Comfort in Sound style stuff? or has their style changed? I like Buck Rodgers enough to listen to it but im not into rock/rock music and certainly not metal (unless its Muse)
-
Travis
What happened to friends then? its not on the album. Unless were talking about the album to succeed The Boy with no name? But that came out in 2007 most bands have 2 year breaks between releases at least.

Speaking of which Im listening to The Verve right now!
