^^ how is that selling out? there is demand and they are simply meeting that demand. im sure they would of loved to have done a 3rd show but their already crazy schedule doesnt allow for that. if they were really selling out they would realised their new found popularity and boosted up their ticket prices to over $90. im glad the show im going to is still at the enmore. cos the second has been moved to the hordern which i hate lol.

Is australia the only country with decent radio stations? In Sydney we have Triple J and Fbi and even 2SER plays some awesome stuff. then in melbourne i know they have 3RRR or something with has a really strong following. all of them are going very well and some are actually becoming more successful than they were before the internet boom.

BBC has decided to get rid of 6music which focuses on up and coming acts and plays predominantly alternative music. Despite living on the other side of the world the station is close to my heart because it is the sister station of Triple J Radio in Australia, my favourite station which is modelled around Music6. Well yes it was one of the more expensive shows of 2010 so far. But it was well worth it. I always seen Phoenix as being just a great indie pop band so I expected a regular pop like performance. But the band surpassed all my expectations. The vocals were perfect, the crowd was very energetic for a cold Tuesday night in march but it was their spectacular muscianship that really surprised me. The band was not afraid to be a little self indulgent and have the odd extended jam session. Best of all the band didn't finish until 10-45 despite a scheduled end of 10-30. A very memorable concert of songs I will be singing to myself for weeks. They had Aussie electro up n comers Miami horror in support who put on a far better performance than the one I saw at the big day out.

Have u enjoyed any of their previous work? They're very much an acquired taste. But great if u like that lo-fi minimalist vibe.

very much an underrated year overall. so much great music has been mentioned over the last couple of pages. i most certainly would not say it is the worst year of the decade. which is? i really dont know

have we been a little harsh on 2009? scrolling through this thread there is so much incredible music yes alot of it isnt up there with the classics of the decade but there is alot in there. i guess its a case of quantity over quality in 2009.

There is little doubt that the aussie music scene didnt have a great year, at least in comparison to 07 and 08. but here are a couple of gems Lisa Mitchell - Wonder This girl deserves every accolade she receives. Dappled Cities - Zounds A great follow up to their breakthrough record Zounds. Temper Trap - Conditions The expectations were sky high after they released Sweet Disposition in 08. They didn't disappoint. Philadelphia Grand Jury Everyone's favourite indie darlings delivered a very solid debut record.

This Is It. Those three words summed up the final year of the decade. It brought an end to another era of music, another generation passed through and above all the curtains closed on the life and career of the greatest entertainer this planet has ever seen. The 12 months of music that made 2009 what it is, has been highly criticised and labelled as being inferior to those it followed. But anyone who has a browse through the songs I've posted below and the tracks other people post, will find it hard to agree with those critics. Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavillion The avant grande kings finally make a record for (some of ) the masses. Accessible and somewhat melodic, MPP was by far the most criticially acclaimed album of the year. The song below wasn't the most popular choice off the album but personally it was the song that got me back into the album late in the year. Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest Not far behind AC in the critical acclaim stakes, Brooklyn's Grizzly Bear won over a lot of new fans with this stunning album, none more than urban music royality Beyonce and Jay-Z. My selection below ranks as one of the best closers in my record collection. The xx – xx One of the more hyped up releases of the year but depending on who you ask it was a great success. Chilled out yet anxious release from the English teens got a lot of people in the music world very excited. The track below is the one that got me the most excited Arctic Monkeys - Humbug If xx was the most hyped release, than the 3rd release from the now indie veterans was one of the most anticipated of the year. Much like The xx is received wildly varying reactions but personally I thought it was a wonderful achievement, to so very successfully change their sound and vibe and still sound so very relevant is the hallmark of a great band, a stayer in the scene. Here is one of the many highlights from the boys Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It's Blitz Do I really need to say how awesome this album is, or how awesome this band is or even how freken awesome Karen O is! Just check out this track! ONE OF THE BANDS OF THE DECADE! FACT! The Horrors – Primary Colours This was my after work album for the year, rendering images of the dark cramped back lanes of London and kinda angry yet mostly confused post punkers But above all it was the atmospheres and landscapes on this album that made it so very spectacular. The album did have the odd dull moment but it's moments like the one below that made it wonderful. Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca Back to the indie collectives, this one made an equally eclectic album of tracks but as opposed to their collegues AC, they gave us a warmer, friendlier compilation of songs. Here is the friendliest of them all. Pearl Jam – Backspacer Finally a band in their middle ages actually sounding like a band in their middle ages. These songs are upbeat and kinda dorky in a crappy Dad joke type of way. I think it's appropriate to finish this off with a mini tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. He's proposed 50 night residency at the O2 Arena in London would of gone down as one of the bigggest musical events of the decade, instead his sad death took out that dubious honour. Below are some moments from the documentary made of the final moments of his life. I've obviously left out a lot of things but if I was to include every single notable album of the year I will be here for years. So I hope you guys will fill in the gaps.

^^ i dont really expect coldplay to follow PJ as it will be kind of pointless for them as they play the same setlist every night whereas PJ wildly vary theirs from show to show. but im sure their fans would love it if they did start.

something very very beautiful arrived in the post today. a little higher up on this page you might find my review of the pearl jam concert i attended last november. well after much delay i finally got around to ordering the official bootleg CD off their website and it arrived today. it is most certainly one of the most awesome things i now own. the packaging is nice and simple yet very cool, the sound quality is perfect and despite being uncharacteristically short (due to EV's sickness the show was just over 2hrs) it brings back some wonderful memories. but it really makes me wish every band in the world would do this.
