^^ yeah the show im going to falls on one of my busy uni days and its towards the pointy end of the semester. will have to keep things quiet on the days surrounding the gig.

maybe brandon has come to realise that there is more to life than being the "biggest band in the world". him and his mates have spent the last 6years on an incredible high so even i've come to realise that maybe this break is for the best before the band burns out. the recent announcement on their website sets in concrete the continuation of the band so we have nothing to be worried about. and if they need advice on how to kill time while on "hiatus" they can give one Axl Rose a call, he spent 15years writing his latest album so he must have plenty of ideas.

that makes me think about where i might be in 10yrs time. a decade ago i hadnt even started high school (grade 7 here) so it was only natural that i have changed since. but now that i've started making annual top 25 lists, i will have a "shortlist" of 250 albums by 2020, not sure if i like the sound of that. it feels a little OTT.

Well since this is the proper MGMT thread i thought it would be right to up date it the new album is called Congratulations and is due for release on April 12. here is the cover art im really looking forward to it the first 20mins of their debut was some of the best pop music i have ever heard. maybe they can carry that over the entire record this time.

^^ thats my favourite radiohead pro shot video. i love the setlist, the crowd is pretty cool and the performance was brilliant. i would love to see an official dvd release of it but thats unlikely. but i already have it on my own home made dvd so im not fussed. but i do love putting it on every now and then, a very entertaining show.

Yeh making albums because you think it will sell well isn't the right attitude but the strokes are losing their relevance largely because of their poor relationship with media

yeah they were meant to be $66 but the bastards made the pre-sale tickets $74, add on the crappy postage free of $8 that takes it to $156 for 2 tickets, instead of $132 like it was initially. im hoping for at least a 16 song set from the band or alternatively a mind blowing performance of a shorter length.

ok i promise this will be my final post on this thread. but there is a method to my madness. i wanted to use this opportunity to express a few things. First of all I really want to thank everyone on this forum in particular the regulars on World of Music. I've been a member of countless music forums all over the web but none have matched my taste in music and personality as much as this place has. I've had the pleasure of becoming good friends with alot of you. But above all my love and appreciation has increased ten fold since I first joined CPing, I love the energy and passion all of you have for music and that has most certainly rubbed off on me. I don't want to dwell on any negatives but I know for a fact that many of you don't quite agree with me on many things and that we've come into conflict on several occasions. But I hope in the future they become a rarity and that we can accept our differences and move on like mature intelligent people. Well now to my top 2. I really wanted to post these two separately because they are most probably the two most important albums I own. I've spent countless late nights drifting off to sleep with one of them playing gently in the background. At more emotional times in my life they've reduced me to tears involuntarily. I won't say anymore here as I won't have anything left to say below. 2. A Rush Of Blood To The Head - Coldplay (2002) The thrashing drums that introduce this record elevate you to another stratosphere, to a different world, a world of insecurities, heartbreak, anxiety and lost love but interspersed amongst great beauty and hope. Listening to this masterpiece I get the feeling that Chris & Co were in a special place (no, not in my place) when they wrote this album, it sounds to me like the music of a group with a burning desire in their hearts to create something spectacular yet moving. It also sounds like a band who are still learning their trade, they've taken everything they learnt making their debut and put it to good use. Something many of the young hyped up indie acts can take inspiration from before they go ahead and make a sophomore record. I cannot finish this piece without mentioning the incredible melodies that feature throughout Rush of Blood, each has its own intentions and none fail to deliver, there is little or no doubt that Chris is the greatest melodist since John & Paul. A special mention has to be given to The Scientist, the song that turned me from being a Coldplay hater to being a massive fan. Lyrically, musically and vocally this song cannot be better, it truly transcends art. Put simply, A Rush of Blood To The Head is one big long warm hug that you wish never ended. 1. In Rainbows - Radiohead (2007) It was a Monday night in mid-October 2007, I was 4 days from my first End of School exam, I had just endured what is still the most difficult year of my life, out of boredom I thought I would scan the radio to see if there was any decent music on. Mid-way through my search I hear the searing falsetto of a familiar voice, after 30seconds of jaw-droppingly beautiful vocals I realise it is the band that did Creep. Aware of the highly publicised unorthodox release of their latest record I decide to keep listening. Half an hour later I turn off the radio, and I think to myself "now that's music". That was my first In Rainbows experience, albeit starting from track 3. I kept away from the album until the end of the exam period then for the remainder of my summer holidays I immersed myself in the incomparable music of Radiohead. By the end of it my entire view of the music world had changed. Gone were my days of scrolling through the charts in search of my next favourite hit track, no longer did I find satisfaction in listening to individual tracks and I started to question my taste in music. I sit here now with an album collection besides me 50 times the size it was when I first sat here listening to House of Cards. Every week I discover a band I had never even heard of before I heard All I Need. I'm not entirely sure if this is one of the best albums I own but it is the one I am the most grateful for having heard. That's that. Forgive me for my self-indulgence. But I will warn you, it will happen again in February 2020.

yeah you make a good point there. he was trying to hard to sound like brian johnson. and i agree i thought it sounded just fine on the night but that was because we had 40 000 people screaming the words along with him, channel v didnt do a very good job of recording the crowd.
