i think alot will depend on how successful the dead weather are. right now i have my doubts over this project. i watched about 20mins of footage of their performance in New York 2 weeks ago and really didnt like what i was hearing. they seem to be going for this really dark artsy sort of led zep feel and it just wasnt working for me. i really hope i'm proven wrong when the album comes out in June. in my opinion Jack White is yet to make a poor album (get behind me satan got close for me but its sooo popular amongst other people) Horehound will be his 9th since 1999. quite the achievement if you ask me, especially in this day and age.

ok ok that should do with all the meg fighting. i'm sure we can all agree that shes a beautiful girl in an awesome band. anyone brave enough to predict when the next White Stripes record might come out? if any!! and what will this new movie be about? jack said his in the process of mixing 40 tracks for the film!

what no? there is no way anyone can convince me that the white stripes would be a better band if it was john bonham or keith moon behind the drums. its called chemistry.

i dont see why everyone gangs up on Meg. if she was in any other band with any other musician she would be perfectly fine. but since she spends most of her time next to one of the best musicians of our era'a she gets unfairly scrutinised. Meg is no different to Jonny Buckland, Adam Clayton or even Ed O'Brien, mediocre musicians who found themselves in amazing bands. and happen to be half decent with harmonies.

i went back to the newsagent today and found that edition of Q Magazine. i took a closer look this time. the review for Mirror Noir is on p137 of the March Edition. they gave the film itself 1 star and the extras 2 stars. they talked about how there was too much feet and hands and stuff which is why they hated it. the mag costs 10 bucks and i didnt think it was worth buying.

anyone who has any understanding of minimalist music would appreciate just how awesome Meg is. no other style of drumming would suit the White Stripes sound.

he doesnt have a main band. he gives each project equal attention. its not his fault that the white stripes have had much more success than the raconteurs. the raconteurs have many many more albums in them but for me they will always be a superior live band rather than a good album one. just my opinion

^^ i'm with you mate. MPP has some truly amazing moments. but they are few and far between. overall i found it rather dull and reptitive. there's more to good music than just "genius" and perfection.

here is the main reason i think alot of people have such a negative view of 21st century music. rock n roll music at least. Navegador named some of the all time great bands. besides being soo awesome they have one other thing in common. they were all incredible musicians, virtuoso's to a certain extent. that era of music gave us the likes of jimmy page, eric clapton, david gilmour and keith richards. so when fans of that music listen to modern music they expect the same level of muscianship to be leaping out of the speakers, massive solo's, frenetic drumming and heavy basslines. but of course there's little or none of that in music these days regardless of where u look whether its Muse or White Stripes or Bloc Party. the best guitarist these day restrict themselves to killer riffs rather than self indulgent solo's which i think is one of the best attributes of rock music nowadays. too many people are accustomed to music being obviously and clearly amazing very few people take the time to listen carefully and appreciate what is actually going on. there's another reason i have but i'll save that for next time.

well they arent really doing much at the moment. but something tells me that jack might surprise us with an album. he recently said in an interview for his 3rd band The Dead Weather that he is currently in his home studio mixing 40 tracks for an upcoming White Stripes film. jack doesnt seem the type to make 9 or 10 albums with the same band. i think we should expect at most another 2 or so albums from the band.

briggins good luck trying to convince people that Speed of Sound is nothing but Clocks II (i prefer to call its Clocks Remix). ive been trying for years to no avail. i need to think about my response to this thread. there are alot of bands who i love but i find it hard to pinpoint exactly the impact they've had on me

or make some phoney accounts........................i didnt say that.................

this has been a very very big issue for me over the last 2 or 3 years as i discover more and more great new music. i've lost count of the number of people who have said to me "music nowadays sucks" or "man i wish music was like it was back in the 70s or 80s" or sometimes "everyone just sounds the same". now part of me does agree with them. when i listen to the great albums from the 70s and even earlier i am absolutely blown away by how amazing they are. but what people forget is all the shit that was also around at the time, people view that era of music with rose-tinted glasses (only see what they want to see). if your only memories of the 60s are the beatles, rolling stones and the who then of course you're going think that those were the best days. and i very very strongly believe that the same can be said for modern music am i the only person who has experienced this? does anyone here firmly believe that music is at its lowest point? anyone lost all faith in the music scene and up and coming artists? i'm not saying that music is any better or worse than it was 30 or 40 years ago its just different and people need to accept that and stop living in the past. i'm sure their parents hated what they listened to. there is alot more i want to say but i want to read peoples responses first.

i'm pretty sure this will be only one of 2 or 3 tours around australia of different sizes. if the album does very very well then we can expect a few shows at larger venues sometime next year but right now venues like Hordern Paviliion are perfect for the band. surprised to see that they opted to be supported by NOVA radio as opposed to triple j who have been with the band for about 8 years now. but like i said in a previous post they're a big rock band now and its time to make some real money.

hey briggins mate. our beloved Fleet Foxes aint going crash hot :( but to be far aside from VLV its the only other 2008 album up there.

that Reading performance is widely available in full all over the internet but its still exciting to see it being released officially on dvd. hope they have a shitload of extras

yeah i totally agree but musically i found Narrow Stairs to be much much better especially the production quality was incredible.
