  1. let the fun and games begin :) or have they been going for a while and im just late?
  2. i'll be sure to check them out when they hit sydney. not exactly a "fan" of the band but nothing else is impressing me in the city gig guide over the uni mid year break. you would think with the shear number of bands i love something would impress me. tickets on sale June 4. only 1000 to go on sale in sydney
  3. ^^ are you saying that they will sound like those two bands. or those band's last/latest albums are their heaviest?? i have never quite understood why the arctic monkeys have struggled to enjoy any sort of chart success outside of the Uk and Europe. down here in aus they are basically unknown outside of the alternative scene. i can't imagine a band being more commerically viable than the arctic monkeys. decent lookin fellows, catchy tunes, not too heavy not too slow countless potential hits. where has it gone wrong for them? i know that my countrymen/women will start saying "well nooo they played second last at BDO and their albums always go to number". first it hardly takes 10 000 sales to get to the top of the charts here and secondly only 3 of their songs have made the top 100 charts. something is wrong!! is their record label asleep?
  4. http://www.nme.com/news/arctic-monkeys/44813 NEW ALBUM OUT BEFORE END OF AUGUST AND WILL HAVE BLACK SABBATH SOUND!! sorry for the caps but i am insanely excited about this album. there's only one other band (pearl jam) whose first 3 albums i have loved. i'm hoping to add AM to that list. so my expectations are incredibly high so i think i need to embrace myself to be potentially dissapointed......
  5. Something in the Way is beautiful on MTV Unplugged.
  6. The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Vs. Radiohead- Kid A Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head Vs. Sigur Ros - Takk...
  7. hope they come out with their album sooner rather than later. when they were down here in aus they said they were "73%" done from memory. the new songs sounded pretty decent live but its going to be near impossible to live upto the brilliance of their first 2 albums.
  8. i have some good news and some bad news first the good news, i did record the live show which was broadcast on the radio last weekend. and it was a brilliant performance. the band describes it as one of their best ever performances now the bad news. the first 20mins turned out terrible. i accidently had one of the controls up too high so its very distorted. but u can still make out the song and im sure some technical expert could fix it. more good news. the remaining 40mins sounds almost perfect and very very clear. i'm glad it was a full one hour broadcast. some more bad news. the line cut out a few times so theres little bits and pieces missing here and there but its only very minor. finally good news. i should have it uploaded by wednesday night. and im pretty sure this is the only recording available.
  9. just found this on NME Radiohead hit the studio for new album Colin Greenwood speaks about follow-up to 'In Rainbows' May 18, 2009 Radiohead's Colin Greenwood has told NME.COM the Oxford band have begun recording their new album with producer Nigel Godrich. The bassist revealed that the band went into the studio to start work on the follow-up to 2007's 'In Rainbows' last week (beginning May 11) "We've just started work [in the studio] last week," he told NME.COM. "It's really cool and everything is sounding great. It's early days and it is a bit like having a scrapbook at the moment because everything is up in the air, but it's good to be back in the studio." He was quick to praise Godrich, who has produced every Radiohead album since 1997's 'OK Computer'. "He's brilliant," Greenwood gushed. "He can make everything sound like it's working together rather than us trying to kill each other." Greenwood was speaking at Brighton's Great Escape festival, which took place over the weekend (May 13-16).
  10. is anyone here going to the free show in Gippsland on the 30th? i'll have to follow it on triple j which i guess won't make for a bad saturday night. Butterfly Effect and Children Collide also on the line up and im dissapointed the "big headliner" turned out to be only Hilltop Hoods.
  11. it seems like Dragon Queen might be the next single after Heads Will Roll. personally i think its the weakest track on the album.
  12. Nickelback in my eyes they are nothing more than a group of guys who got guitars for christmas and like strumming on them and by some freak of nature someone somehow for some reason unknown to man decided to record them. my list of bands i hate would go for pages and pages. but Nickelback hold a special place in my heart.
  13. METAL-FUCKING-LICA!!!!! yeehhh!!
  14. just wondering. are people going for the record that means more to them personally? or the record which they think is "better"?? historically Sgt Peppers is obviously the bigger and better album but rush of blood means more alot to me.
  15. could u please translate that to indie english. ;)
  16. they broadcast TVOTR's concert from late january in sydney onthe radio this past monday. it was a spectacular performance that i wish i had the chance to record. i will ATTEMPT to do so when it is re-broadcast on sunday afternoon. but i'm sure one of the countless tv on the radio fans in australia recorded it. now i just need to hunt it down.
  17. A Rush of Blood To The Head Kid A and to Mr howyousawtheworld (to be Miss howyousawtheworld very soon) if you ran into Chris Martin would you tell him that you think that Radiohead are totally shit??
  18. got both. love both. The Bends is better marginally. but if this was Definately Maybe vs The Bends then i would say oasis
  19. ^^ i won't argue with you on that. i've been hooked on it. i'll admit i havent heard much of Grizzly Bear but if i enjoy this new record i will be sure to check out the rest.
  20. Metric .....listened to Fantasies 3..5 times today and Gimme Sympathy is my favourite song of the year.
  21. does anyone know when they might tour australia??
  22. ^^ have you even listened to the fleet foxes album? i agree FF hasnt changed the world exactly but anyone who has listened to it can tell you that its an incredible record and nothing came close to it last year and there's no reason why it shouldn't be compared to Sgt Peppers. i've always wondered how different those "Abbey road" albums would of been had the beatles not been up to their eyeballs in LSD.
  23. i guess a coldplay forum is the wrong place to put a beatles v rolling stones poll. thanks for your input anyways.
  24. you can only fit 75mins of audio onto one cd. with 17 songs that would mean each song would have to be around 4.5mins long. wolfmother's first album was popular for its prog rock elements and a handful of 5min+ tracks and those were the best ones. and to be honest right now i think a regular 12track album is all the bands needs to do.
  25. where was Messi this morning (aus time sorry)? he had like 3 touches in the entire game. if chelsea are able to keep him quiet over 2 games i dont think man united will have any trouble in the final.
