  1. I actually like the Brits the way they are. If every award was open to anyone, a lot of smaller acts/artists would never get a look in. Beth Rowley wouldn't have got a nom tonight if she'd had to compete against the likes of Beyonce as well as Duffy & Adele. For young up-and-coming acts, it's really great to get that kind of attention But I agree it's good that there's only a few awards
  2. Probably not the right place to say this, but I have a bad feeling about tonight...
  3. Because their pretty little heads can't cope with holding a microphone and thinking on their feet at the same time :dozey:
  4. Yes, and I'm already pissed off with bloody All Saints...
  5. Another question for the oracle then...

    Bad spelling here.... marijuana
  7. Oh, don't worry, you'll still see drunk and goofy, they just like to beep the swear words out :laugh3:
  8. I thought it was the painting from VLVODAAHF, but I've only seen a small pic
  9. Found this photo on tiscali: Guess we'll be seeing Guy in the pink again! And to answer your question, Pris, the tv show starts in 3 hours, the awards themselves will start sooner. There's always a tv delay because it's quite a boozy event!
  10. I love that he's clearly a fan of proper pop music. Personally, I love Take That, hate Girls Aloud and worship Kylie, but I love that the guy who wrote the cheerily-titled "Death & All His Friends" listens to all three!
  11. Yeah, that's what I thought!
  12. February 18, 2009 - submitted by vicky, United Kingdom Q. Hello there all knowing wise one. I have a little cheeky question to ask, I have been so so so! Lucky to get tickets to see Coldplay at The War Child concert. I was wondering will Coldplay or any members of the band be doing any autographs or pictures after the show??? Even if it means putting something in for the cause? Big, Massive fan. Vicky x x x The Oracle replies: It's highly unlikely given that it's going to be such a late finish tonight. Beforehand they'll be leaving the Brit Awards to go to straight to the venue so there won't be any time for hanging around either side of the show. To anyone who is lucky enough to be going please make sure you've arranged safe plans to get home afterwards.
  13. February 18, 2009 - submitted by Maria, United States of America Q. Dear Oracle, First of all I would like to say that Coldplay's music is beyond amazing and I would like to thank the members for making such incredible music that truly inspires so many people. My question is in regard to The Bakery. I recently went backpacking through Europe (I went to the Louvre and OF COURSE, I took a picture with Delacroix's Liberty Leading The People, which is absolutely stunning!) and I also went to London. After checking out all the typical tourist sites, I was determined to hop on a train, get off on Hampstead Heath and walk to The Bakery. My questions is does the band really use The Bakery? I took some pictures there and since I'm such a huge fan, some of my friends say that they really don't use The Bakery at all and to be honest, I want to prove them wrong and who else to help me out than the amazing Oracle! =) I would also like to add that one of my most cherished memories from my time near The Bakery was that since it was very chilly, I stopped in a small diner and as I was waiting for my hot chocolate, the Viva La Vida video started playing and it just added to the fact that I felt so close to Coldplay and their music. Thank you for your time and have a lovely day =) The Oracle replies: Yes they do use the Bakery; it's their HQ. They have a studio there and offices; it's where they work. They might have been there the day you took photos but as we ask fans to respect their workspace, I applaud you for not attempting to find out. It's nice there was a sign that made you feel close as indeed you were.
  14. Oooh, we've upset someone... February 18, 2009 - submitted by yusef, United Arab Emirates Q. Ok, so, why have I not ever heard of this postcard sending shinagagy?! I would of LOVED to send Coldplay a postcard from my country and I check coldplay.com virtually everyday but I NEVER saw an anouncement or anything saying that you can send postcards to coldplay. Please, please oracle- can we still send them postcards and if so whats there address? The Oracle replies: It wasn't anything to do with the band or therefore, Coldplay.com. Fans who gather on the fansite Coldplaying.com's forum arranged it. It was a one-off project called Postcards From far Away (after the Coldplay song of the same name) and the fans also decided how long it would run for; the last posting date was many weeks ago. No, I'm afraid you can't still send them; as you see from the video, the cards have been delivered.
  15. A fresh batch of questions: February 18, 2009 - submitted by Maureen, United States of America Q. I heard you on "60 Minutes" last night say you were looking for a Christmas song. My grandmother Genevieve Brooks wrote 'Christmas Time' which was copyrighted in December 1956 and it is so beautiful. I would like to send it/scan email it so you could see it. Is there an email address I can send it to? Thanks for your time. Maureen, Daytona Beach, FL The Oracle replies: That's very sweet of you Maureen but Chris didn't say he was looking for a Christmas song by/from anyone else. In fact, did you not hear his little Christmas song?

  17. I think everyone is agreed on the charity idea - let's see what Carla says when she logs on today - she was going to do some research I'll leave her a message to make sure she checks this thread
  18. The Bafta Film awards has about 20 - 25 catergories and only 2 are exclusively British. The Brits used to be exclusively for British acts but over the years they've added more and more international catergories, but the two don't go head-to-head.

  20. Never mind, Zoe, I didn't see mine either... thinking of setting up a club for fellow losers :P It's just great to see the whole thing come to a successful conclusion, and I got a couple of my own postcards from far away as a result of swapping addresses with fellow Coldplayers connected to this project Chris was right - we are the best fans in the world!!! :smug:
