  3. Same here for Southern Manhattan..hope this helps: http://tvlistings.timewarnercable.com/digitalcable/findTvListings/viewChannelLineUp/?headendId=NY31519X 791.
  4. Hi I don't have Time Warner....but It's Palladia HD: http://www.palladia.tv/ I don't live in New York, but an internet search suggested channel 791: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/archive/index.php/t-442133.html
  5. Yeah I just looked it up on my cable, and it's playing on Palladium HD this Friday from 7PM-10PM and then on VH1 from 10PM-12AM. I too was sadly an IMAX purchaser, gravely dissapointed with the cancelling. But, this is an unexpected and awesome surprise!! I can't wait. Got two cable boxes set up to record (in case one fails). OH man, how am I gonna stand it..waiting all week long. Thank you so much for the heads-up!
  6. Wow, I must be listening to a different song. It doesn't have to "grow" for me...it's fully developed and exquisite. I'm sorry to see that it fell short for others.
  7. I couldn't agree more! Very well put...I had exactly the same experience with Violet Hill and the VLV album, and share the same sense about this new one...so glad to see I'm not alone!
  8. Strange...I experienced the same build-up with everyone all week long, full of unspeakable anxiety. But the moment I sat in my car this morning and blasted the song for the first time, I wasn't thinking about "old Coldplay", or the "new direction" or all the premature negativity around the lyrics or cover art. I suppose my head was quite clear from all of that because I just sat there fully enveloped, mouth dropped open, soaked in a blissfull ambiance of Coldplay magnificence. I listened to it repeatedly on the way to work, so excited to see the comments on these forums; to see how others must be drooling similarly about how the song made them feel. Instead I'm completely taken aback by how downplayed the response is: the "so-so's", the ranking of 4's and 7's, the immediate likenesses drawn to LIJ and VLV (which was a predictable comparison given the early insight) while even some are now dissillusioned about the new sound, even putting into question their continued devotion to the band. It's sort-of heartbreaking to see. Perhaps on the flip-side it's heartbreaking for those "old-school" fans to embrace...I dunno. Not this fan. I also don't see the song, as some hyperbolize, as aimed at "15 year-olds". Coldplay's music has always trenscended age groups regardless; and I greatly respect their ability to do that. I think it's also a bit unfair for so many to immediately assume that the rest of the album will share the same mold of this first song. Had VLV been the first song on the previous album perhaps that would've been the same conclusion to draw. However, that album turned out to be quite different altogether (admittedly, more ecclectic perhaps). These are my opinions of course, and I do respect everyone elses' even though I may dissagree. I just wanted to convey my dissapointment, less with the song, and more with the reactions. I'm honestly baffled..it's an amazing song that was completely unexpected even with all of the early rumors about it being "dancy", etc.. This song actually leaves me starved for more, as if waiting for the punch-line. I'm so impressed by their growth and development, and the culmunating of their talents; reaching in new ways. I can't wait to go for another swim it again already.

  10. Mrk150, I saw Coldplay at the Honda Center few years back (when it was the Arrowhead Pond)...the ONLY thing that's so damn frustrating about the floor seats (which I have yet again) is that you are literally like a sardine packed-in (section 104 I believe..all floors have a similar feeling)...I mean you barely have any room for your legs to move...always uncomfortably glued to the person next to you. (when seated of course) So, don't plan on drinking alot of beer...near impossible to not feel like a complete nuisance getting up and down... If so, hope that you're on the isle (thank God I am this time). Oh, and I would eat before. I mean, you become neighbors real quick. Regardless, the sound is what you would expect in a hockey arena, very echoey. Plus, floor seats are even; so hope you don't have Cowboy Billy-bob in front of you. Coldplay still manage to keep the sound from running away from you so don't worry abou the quality. You know, the seating location it's certainly better than the nosebleeds. I hope that helps give you some perspective. I have 1 extra ticket (not seated by me) that I'm trying to sell on Craiglist for face value; it's section 201, Row S which is in the center (although in the back)...at least it's a stereo sound there and NOT flat on the floor...anyway just thought I'd mention it.
  11. #$%()*#$)_#* The album is eclectic enough that all of us probably (had we not heard ASARY) would have otherwise embraced it if it was on VLV given the (Coldplay-ish) diversity of the album. I'm very happy that things have turned out the way they did. I just wish I could have Coldplay write and record and produce to my needs forever; that way everything would be just perfect and the world would be in balance...God, what drug am I on??!?
  12. Yeah I'm in the same boat on that....it's easy to find things for free and it's often hard to resist. But, given how long I've waited and how much effort they put into these recordings I feel like I have to put something forth. Ultimately I want it all though, just like the everyone. In this group there's no doubt everything will be accessible at some point.
  13. THANKS! I'm soooo relieved...thank you! So does that mean the songs are somehow linked together under 1 of the regular titles (meaning you would have to listen to one looooong song), or does it actually download the songs separately as individual songs?
  14. Anyone know if the "Hidden Tracks" will be included if we've preordered from I-tunes? I'm worried they won't because (obviously) the titles are not listed.
  15. Actually, I was quite taken aback by Viva La Vida (in a delightfully rare way). I mean, I very much enjoyed VH, although I don't think it had quite the surprise factor that had been building up for so long. I expected the White Album at that point the way people had been speculating, and to me it pretty much just sounded like Coldplay in a new studio, on a new album (go figure) - nothing too out of the box, but it sounded good and I'm enjoying repeated listens nonetheless. I guess you could say that Viva La Vida did what VH didn't deliver on in my opinion, in terms of something notably "different". I absolutely love Viva La Vida with regard to it's uniqueness. I'm not sure what to think about it in context to the rest of the album as I've obviously not heart it yet, but on it's own it's indeed colourful and refreshing, not to mention beautifully mastered. It was interesting recently when I heard Chris refer to Parachutes as more "Jeff Buckley" when describing the differences in the albums. Although I love that dry, raw honesty that comes through on Parachutes, I'm conflicted by wanting to see what else they can do while at the same time missing the more pure, minimal earthiness of Parachutes. In the end, it's Coldplay, and most often I'm happy with really anything they create. Chris' voice is addicting and carries my interest no matter what he sings. I very much respect the creative ambition of the band and I'm willing to let them take that ride without being too punitive. Maybe one day there will be a return to the days of "Sparks". I don't think it is outside the realm of possibility as they seem to be very cognizant of how their songs come across.
