  1. i want to know how many people will be there as well. i also want to know how soon i should get there because it's based on an overallocation of tickets and it would be terrible to have gotten tickets and then lose out. you don't think it'll be too intense, do you? i don't really want to stay out in the cold for more than two hours...:\
  2. I second this question. I've gotten tickets as well. Woooooooooo!
  3. While we've heard stuff from the band through various sources, to finally hear them talk about when LP5 would come out made me think Late 2011 might not actually be wrong... Chris seemed genuinely unsure about it. His tone didn't suggest they were keeping it quiet. I'm pretty surprised by it all to be honest, as the festivals made me think they might have it out in the spring, but this seems like it could be a long time.
  4. I applied for this and it would make me so happy if I could get the tickets. I think I actually applied close to when they posted the info without even knowing! OMG I DID! 6 minutes after Coldplay.com posted it! We don't find out until we get them in the mail though...urgh. A fan can hope :wideeyed:
  5. thanks, i've done just that! i read they have good customer service. i'm sure by normal standards it is, but they don't realize they're dealing with a coldplay fan who really wants his coldplay song...hopefully it'll be sorted before the night. at least i have the video rip! :)
  6. does anyone know how to deal with a song when it's downloaded poorly? is there anything i can do on my computer to get it to its proper version? i'm not going to buy this again just because amazon's download sucks... I JUST WANT TO HEAR THE SONG PROPERLY
  7. so my amazon.co.uk download, which i was happy to have available, is now playing like a scratched record...wtf.
  8. I've been wondering this for a while now...it seems really out of place and they could have gotten the band to just do the singing part. Really cool that they would do that for the fans.
  9. well i can't find it on amazon.co.uk and i can't buy anything from itunes because my massively confusing status of being a student abroad... so i had to use the youtube converter. however, whenever i can buy it officially i will.
  10. This is what happens to me but I can't even buy it from iTunes no matter what I do. I really hope it'll be put on amazon.co.uk...or any site I can use!
  11. It hasn't worked for me. I don't think I can download it from there anyways. Amazon.co.uk doesn't have it right now...:(
  12. i can't buy it :( itunes won't work here and there were no cards at the store...but at least i got back in time
  13. But would I be able to use it in the US store??? Because I won't be able to make any UK account without a card I don't think. AH! I would have to run to the grocery store! If they didn't have any I'd be devastated...hmmm...I will run I suppose...
  14. so it won't be available to download directly from coldplay.com? right now i'm abroad and i don't have a credit card with a uk billing address. so i can't use the itunes us store or the uk one (because it recognizes my computer is not in us). does anyone know how to deal with this on short notice? i've been trying everything - including signing up with alternative forms of payment like clickandbuy.com, but then they tell me they don't recognize my address! i need to get the song tonight! any help anyone could give would be really appreciated
  15. i've only just heard the song (not yet seen the video and will only allow myself to listen to the song once) but did anyone else find "our contribution" to be slightly out of place? someone said this about on the video as well, but on the song, perhaps because i knew when it was coming (?), our "oh-oh-oh-oh-oh..." seemed odd. maybe i'll have to just listen to the song without trying to listen to our part!
  16. I don't. Not because I want to disagree with anyone here, but just because I think that'd be too much to hope for.
  17. This. All the real news we're getting combined with what we're hearing doesn't mesh up. I feel it just makes sense for the album to come out before the festivals start. A lot of bands will actually do new material while on tour, but Coldplay (by which I mean Chris) always seem to have less confidence in the stuff at the beginning. I guess I'd just be surprised if the songs weren't at least out there in album format for the band to play them live. How many songs would Coldplay be playing at a festival like this anyways? Is it like a normal tour length show? I've never been to a music festival so I don't really know. My thoughts are that if they were playing anything less than 6 songs that they could probably play oldies but then throw in the lead single from the new album. This would mean the release would could be later summer... Obviously, that's not what I want - just a thought.
  18. I'm not sure if you intended to mean it this way, because Christmas Lights is definitely a single, but it's not going to be an off the album single. We'd definitely have been told if it had anything to do with the album.
  19. People who spoke to Phil Harvey said he told them not for a while and the recent Q Magazine interview had it listed as late 2011. Even though all other indications (not just festivals) seem to dictate it should be out earlier.
  20. I just don't understand why they would play all these festivals if they didn't have any new material? Maybe that's just me.
  21. They would never do this. Their careers are completely separate - by their choice.
  22. No, Paul McGuinness, the band manager, said they're planning to have it out by May. They've had a lot of time off and have been writing while on tour. The last thing out said they had all the songs done they just needed to do the finishing process of recording, mixing, etc. And although Coldplay may not have to worry about U2 performing in sales, that doesn't mean they don't actually worry. The guys clearly revere U2, so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want to go head to head if for only that reason. As for what the albums promise...I really don't see U2 doing anything relevant anymore. In their prime they were able to be bold and innovative while writing songs people could love - now they're picking one or the other it seems. As U2 has become a reactive band since Pop, they're just going to try to lay out a lot of boring mainstream hits. Coldplay obviously are going to do a great job. Nothing else to say.
  23. I suppose my thread title asks it all. Some of you may shudder at this and think I'm doing another U2 to Coldplay comparison. I'm certainly not. But I'm not sure if you guys are aware but U2 are looking to have their album out by at least May. Even if Coldplay didn't care when they released theirs in comparison (although I think they may), do you think the record label would want to have both coming out at the same time. U2 aren't the band they used to be, but they're still serious players in terms of sales. Viva compared to No Line... sort of put to rest U2, but I have to feel if both albums were released in the same month they could affect each other.

I had a dream Coldplay just up and decided to put songs up for free on their website. Pretty basic but was it exciting. Although I didn't hear any of the music :\
