Wow. Time for my two cents on the ARIAs. I guess every comment so far is spot on, it was freaking terrible. Probably unprofessional. Giving artists awards in small pockets of the crowd obviously meant that Channel 10 didn't value the awards night that highly. I wonder whether it was anything to do with the number of "Triple J" artists up for nomination rather than the usual "fox fm" shit we have nominated every year. Rebel Wilson isn't a great host, and every time two presenters were talking or announcing nominations they were so AWKWARD and well, spastic. LARA BINGLE I AM LOOKING AT YOU. Seriously - how did she get on this? It's a shame cos Channel 10 did such a great job in 2008. As for the winners, I guess that's what made me most happy. All deserved - I was shocked when all the public-voted awards were given to deserved artists rather than commercial popsters. Glad to see the temper trap take a couple of awards, and Angus and Julia stone definitely deserved the top 2 awards. Washington gives me the shits. She's boring and ugly. Maybe she just fails so badly in comparison to other top indie females (Emily Haynes and Karen O anyone?) She is doing it herself, kudos to that I guess. Another observation was the Birds of Tokyo juggernaut. My god, these guys are going to be huge. I think if they and the temper trap can keep making decent records they will become the next two rock acts that silverchair and powderfinger were - JET seem like they've had their time. *Exhales*

Yeah I have no problem with the top 3 albums. But the post 2000- releases, WTF? Eddy Current is way too high, and so are Empire of the sun. Powderfinger's Odyssey #5 deserves higher imo.

Yes! I totally agree. This is a great summer album and might be one of my top aussie releases of the year. I've been listening to it for a month now and I like it. Uh oh, so you're going to have to go to BDO? I thought you wanted to catch their sideshow.

Hmm they don;t know what they're on about. The Temper Trap, as all bands do, have a signature sound. But if you listen to the album heaps like we have then you notice the variety. It's a quality release, and a great live album too since I have seen them three times now
