  1. I'm in desperate need of more Apparatjik stuff..... :P
  2. I know. Twice    And yeah, I need to see them again too..but no danger of that for aaaages now :bigcry: Though I hope they do the odd couple of gigs before another album is out, maybe next Spring *fingers crossed* Anyway, I'm currently voting like crazy on the nme.com Band of the Festivals 2010 - vote Kasabian here or click the pic They're currently in the lead, but we need to keep 'em there
  3. yeah, on paper it does seem an odd choice, but it's a killer track, a brilliant way to open with a bang. It got relegated to mid-set for this last leg of the tour tho, they've been opening with Shoot the Runner lately instead.
  4. I'd rec. Factory, Compliments and NW Apt off the new album. I'm yet to invest in the previous ones, i should get on and deal with that really as they seem like a decent band :)
  5. tru dat  I wonder if they'll still keep it on the setlists after the next album tho. :\
  6. oh god yeah, it was manic, both nights. At brixton there was a guy jumping about like a loon and security told him off about four times. there was a couple of dickheads that got pulled out the crowd and kicked out haha. At v people were packed in like sardines, i could barely move and for the first 3 songs all i could see were other ppl's hands. the crowd was massive! plus i got drenched in beer :( it was mad, but incredible aswell, you could really feel the crowd's love for the band. Ahhhh i love ID so much. ^what she said  definately Mothman, it's epic. Also maybe Me Plus One, Happiness or British Legion if you like songs a bit calmer :)
  7. I salute the utter randomness that is the Mew thread.
  8. Aw jealous. I love this album :)
  9. I've just read this on nme.com :D Great news
  10. :shocked2: woah. Cool :D
  11. errrrmmm yeah.... on the side, lower tier, if I remember right. Not on the floor, I think alot of the floor tix went in the presale. I've just seen a friend's pics of a gig from this weekend and the video wall they had was mahoosive! If they can fit that in the MEN, that'd be bloody brilliant.
  12. Mixed reviews of last night's set at Chelmsford :( and from The Sun (tho it is the Sun, so not exactley quality journalism :\ )
  13. Manchester for me. Should be a good night :)
  14. ^ L O R D S O F D E S T R U C T I O N (dot) I N F O
  15. Gonna see them in November
  16. Are they streaming from both sites or just Chelmsford? Cos I've seen a website that says they're streaming Kasabian from Chelmsford tonight. So that's what I'm watching tonight :D Anyway here's some nme links about Brixton and V. Last night was mad :freak: Really mental. But in a good way! I got Sergio's side this time, thought it was only fair as I was Chris's side on Thursday. And they played Thick as Thieves, which I was stupidly happy about, cos I *love* that song. And there was this beautiful moment where they all gathered round the drumkit during Doberman. Kinda with their backs to the crowd but the way they all came and played together was adorable. ^when they first walked on stage my first impression was "wtf is Serge wearing now?" :laugh3: He has some epic jackets  ...and a couple more Brix ones...
  17. Ok then, quick update. Last night, Brixton Academy, 2nd row  I won't bore you all with my epic train journey down to London. Support band Dark Horses were um...kinda strange. One guy was banging a drum with a fuck-off big chain at one point. Very odd. Anyway, Tom came on stage mid-way thru their set and sang with them. Their singer Lisa Elle later came on for Silver Bullet during Kasabian's set, which was lovely :wacky: Anyway Kasabian's set, what can I say? They were fantastic, really up for it and buzzing. Serge rocking out during Take Aim was priceless. Tom was allll over the stage. I have to say, I know I'm a total Tommy-fangirl already but all that aside, he really is an incredible frontman, he was mesmerising to watch, you couldn't take your eyes off him for a second. And Chris was looking buuuuufff :dead: All that cycling's paying off ;) Anyway, short story = they were fantastic and now I'm really pumped for V :D There's a few pics on my tumblr right now. Those are my faves, but there's plenty more. I shall have to upload them all properly soon, prob Sunday as I'm out tonight and off to V tomorrow :D
  18. Wow, just fucking wow. What a night :)
  19. Almost the entire Turin Brakes back-catalogue  oh and Brain Thrust Mastery - We Are Scientists
  20. If you like Coldplay, Mew and/or a-ha odds are you'll like Apparatjik too  A big band with allusions of obscurity :) And if you like coldplaying.com, you *love* apparatchick.com....whaaaa??? ...jus' saying // end shameless promotion :P
  21. I've been listening to all the Elbow albums on shuffle for the last two hours now  I swear Guy Garvey could sing me the phonebook and it'd sound amazing :D
  22. Will do. Ta. Well, mine got reviewed but it's about 75% British and very Brit-pop inspired. You're welcome to have a listen :D Mixtape
  23. Video. Silas. Weird.
  24. Oh I only put ???? where I didn't guess the track/artist. I listened to it without peeking at the track titles cos I didn't want to get spoilered. Ooooooh Kent, huh? I gave them a listen some time ago, but obviously didn't get hooked at the time, perhaps I should go back and listen again. haha @The Fray, I must admit to not listening to their first album much after I bought it :\ It just goes to show how many albums I have that I never listen to :shame: Funny that you describe Don't Look Back as lacking in popularity, over here it definately (maybe) isn't underrated at all, especially at the time. It was everywhere  A good choice tho. Anyway, was glad to help out, it's rough when your mix doesn't get reviewed. And apologies again for fucking up the order :embarrassed:
  25. Downloaded. Jeez that was hard work, first McAfee flagged it up as an unsafe d/load then I had to reinstall winzip. Anyway, listening now.....but I'm also painting the living room at the same time, so don't expect an in-depth, profound review ;) I have no idea of track order, I've just set it playing :\ 1 - ???? Nice, harmless track, the guy's voice borders on slightly annoying but it's ok, nothing special. 2 - Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis Nice choice for an Oasis track, tho there's probably better ones to pick. I love the guitars in this song, I haven't actually listened to this track for quite a while so nice to hear it again. I probably played it to death in the 90s :) 3 - ???? Strong beginning, fast tempo drumming. Unusual vocal, almost Placebo like. Good, funky guitars. Gets pretty rocky. I rather like this one. Oooh wht a shame, the end's a bit annoying "over and over and over and over..." 4 - ???? Starts with whistling(?) Nice mellow vocal, I don't think it's English. Not sure what language it is tbh. It's good tho. I like the backing vocal. 5 - ???? Singer sounds familiar, but I don't recognise the song. I like it tho, nice strings. Ooooo the fella's voice is bugging me......Got it! sounds like the singer from The Enemy...have no idea if it is or not tho. It's a good track. 6 - ???? Ooooh now this one sounds like the singer from The Fray. Tho the song sounds nothing like anything off their first album, which was rather dull. Pretty rocky track, plunky plunk piano, groovy guitars. Quite like this, nice and upbeat. 7 - Stadium Arcadium - Red Hot Chilli Peppers Slow start, something about St Petersburg in the lyrics. Another vocal that sounds familar......aaaaah Red Hot Chilli Peppers....? Stadium Arcadium, is it? I have an album with this on it, but haven't played it in ages. This is good, but kinda mellow for RHCP. Like the backing vocals and the way it builds and fades. 8 - ???? Really rocky start. Thumping drums and bass. Dunno why, but it sounds American to me. Quite shouty. Not bad. 9 - ???? Interesting intro. This has an Oasis-feel about it, it's not them tho. Nice guitars, upbeat drumming. Rather unchallenging lyrics tho, but I like it. "I will live for you" 10 - ???? Woah, I like the beginning to this, really rocky guitars. Sounds bit like Foo Fighters, has that sexy Dave Grohl type vocal about it. I like it. 11 - ???? (Muse?) Is this Muse? I don't know the song at all, it's just the vocal sounds like Matt Bellamy. I'm not a bit fan of his voice at all, I think Muse would be pretty good without it, so listening to this track and ignoring the vocal, I think the track's fairly good. Solid and rocky, not bad. 12 - ????? "All that I'm hearing from you..is white noise, white noise" Hmmmmm sounds a bit old skool, dodgy 80's rock, like it belongs on a movie soundtrack... of a really bad movie. It's not bad as such, I like the drums, but it's not great either. Plus it's dragging on a bit.... 13 - ???? Oooo change of pace now, with a nice laidback piano. Quite mellow...ok, now the track's picked up a bit and has gone all rocky. Nice load of instrumentation in this trac; piano, guitars, organ, strings. Not bad, sounds a bit too One Republic-ey for me to get too excited by it tho. 14 - ???? Spoken intro, they're saying something about Jack (?), then the vocal kicks in very mellow, ok now I get the significance of the folder name  Nice lyrics, bit emo, but nice. And again, it's picked up a bit, squealy guitars now, thumping drums. That vocal's a bit grating. It's an ok track, not bad. So, all-in-all, a good little mixtape. Good job  EDIT: Shit, looks like I had media player on shuffle when I was playing that so that's why the order is all messed up, sorry. Hopefully, I've described the songs well enough for you to figure them out :\
