The break would be mid-way during X&Y, that is after the song "X &Y". Im suggesting this because the album is long and its , at least to me, more refreshing to have the break in between so I don't get tired during the second part. The break was a fixed part of the initial instructions, no matter the content of the listening party. But as always I wanna hear what you guys think! The B-sides could be arranged but I think we should have taken this discussion earlier. Now Im not sure we have the time to decide on whether we want the B-sides, which ones (if all the people here even have access to them/own them) and in what order to listen to them starting at what time! LOL However we can definitely take this up during the next listening party, maybe even make a dedicated poll or perhaps have a "b-sides dedicated" listening party or two where we decide a fixed playlist :) Sounds like a good idea? :)

I´d like to point out that the instructions on the first post include "a 20 minute break". Last time we had a break between Viva and Prospekt. This time its only one album, so we can have the break after the first part (after X & Y the song). This is only one album but its unusually long and I personally would like the break to still be in effect so I can make a cup of tea and grab a snack, but let me know what you guys think! All decisions we come to Ill swiftly update the first post with :) They will also be reiterated some an hour or so before the start :)

Last time we only listened to the studio album tracks, however afterwards some of us lingered to listen to some B-sides, but not really synchronised. So so far the official answer is "The 13 songs on X & Y studio album version" :)

I was good with Beyoncé and even Bruno taking part until I heard Hymn won't be played and she will debut a new song. After these two events it's just become too pathetic and senseless for me to care much. I still hope the show will be good all in all. Link should be working now. Ok sorry it took me so long but it just dawned on me why the obvious choice of Hymn was discarded. The daft CA crowd of course who as we all know pretty much command and censor the discourse in the USA ( luckily not entirely in Europe yet and some places here not at all! ) Thank you PC crowd for once again ruining a thing I love and depriving me of what would have been a very exciting performance. My only consolation is that comments for the great part don't buy into this bullshit. People don't seem to drink the kool aid as much as they once did. Officially the "other two" were chosen to celebrate the past (the LA youth orchestra the future) because this is a special 50th anniversary. Nothing to do with not attracting audience. Coldplay sell out stadiums, they can hold the attention of a few millions Americans for 10 minutes or so :p It's unclear though who chose Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. It seems from the interviews that it was Coldplay themselves who chose what artists from the past to extend an invitation to. Not sure though.

Look forward to seeing it :) I don't personally like Beyoncé or Bruno Mars music, I can't hear much melody, just a strange noise lol that said I recognize they are both great vocalists and can surely put up a great show as I saw from their previous halftime performances! So no wonder they are thrilling to watch for people who like their music. Kudos to them for that. However I can't but agree with you about their "showing off" bravado which is at best unnecessary, at worst quite silly and embarrassing imo. With people like Justin I'd excuse it cuz he's a young lad, but these two are grown adults, they should know better than thinking and acting like they are some kind of royalty. Sadly this confirms to me that fame remains a hard thing to handle for many without losing your head... I'm trying to keep an open mind but it's hard not to see Beyoncé decision as shamelessly commercial and utterly disrespectful towards Coldplay. If she wanted to sing a charts-actual song surely surely the obvious choice had to have been Hymn! And I'm very disappointed about Coldplay as well. In this one instance I wish they'd "man" up and claim their right to the focus being on their show! Beyoncé premieres a new song. Coldplay sing mostly some old songs. Out of this sentence only, who would you guess is the SuperBowl main artist here?

Oh wow man...just wow. So someone please ask Chris what was all that non sense about not singing "Hymn" because it just "came out and it would not be right" or something? I'm speechless at the non sense of this situation.

Good you can keep it going ! I hope it will last for tonight :) (your afternoon) As for the cable it should not be useless if you buy it there. You'd only require a conversion plug attached to it to make it work in Europe. Must check the voltage of your computer of course to be sure but all the pc/phone power adapters I've owned could cover both currents. Maybe worth checking out then as it may pay off to buy it there if the adapter is cheaper in the USA (electronics tend to be cheaper than in Europe).

Kinda curious about what the media outside the USA say? Here in Denmark I found a few short articles about the Coldplay playing the Super Bowl, 100% positive towards the band, no special mention or treatment for Beyonce hehe I keep an eye on the media here when Coldplay releases a new album or play a show and I´ve honestly never seen any comment bout them being boring or hated...they are treated like any other big band would, like U2 were for example. I wonder if this thing about Coldplay being so "unpopular" is mostly in America?

I think everyone should do what they think is best about this. The important thing is to respect one´s wishes and of course make sure they are known :) It may be an irrational fear, but what brain dead is is also still being disputed...I read some not so nice stories about it haha Very hard to know what is what when you´re not a doctor, and even doctors are not always in agreement. The article I linked made some good points imo about making more detailed arrangements than simply signing the donor card, regardless of whether you´re pro or con. I tend to sway towards a no when Im considerably undecided about anything, thats my general stance.

The only spoiler was about Beyonce...well 80% of the Super Bowl news seem to be about Beyonce anyway *LOL*

I pretty much grew up in an american base, so I´ve loved baseball my whole life since I was a lad! hehe I had not too many opportunities to play it, but play it I did any time I could ;) I agree: its a fantastic sport! If the Super Bowl were about baseball I´d stay up watching it *LOL*

Interesting article...to see what non-Coldplay fans think of Coldplay hehe I cant for the life of me understand how anyone can compare Coldplay music from X&Y onwards to Radiohead. I mean..what? Before, sure no doubt, but after X&Y its simply not true. And are Beyonce or Bruno Mars "subversive or dissonant"? Hmmm oooook :wtf: Glad the writer can see that Coldplay are in fact changing up their music (if anyone is in doubt, take a look at their fan community LOL), but this pretty much sums it up for me why perhaps Coldplay are disliked by some and perhaps the media: "they’re just not very flashy about it" . A couple of questions... Why is this Super Bowl during the day? It seems to be thats an exception to the rule, right? And do performers lip-sync or sing live? Im watching Katy Perry and she sure sounds like she's singing live. Edit: Loving her performance so far btw...

Well Europeans their football too hehe But incidentally I was wondering why the Super Bowl is the greatest sport show there and not the baseball final or something? I thought baseball was the quintessential american sport.

From what I understand about the Super Bowl though its not just for sports fans...its like a tradition for a lot of americans (over 100 million watch it I think). Even people who don't care about football on a day to day basis tune in to watch the halftime, so its a much wider audience I think than strictly the people in the stadium and/or football fans

Ah ha yes...exactly these arguments. I guess most people assume its because Coldplay are not capable or confident to hold the show all by themselves, when in fact , from what they have said, it was a wish of the NFL to feature previous performers because this is the 50th Super Bowl. Unfortunate decision imo but I don't think Coldplay could have said no to that....
