Watching Bruno Mars show now (I´d never even heard of him really prior to Coldplay Super Bowl thing). So far more R&B stuff...not sure how or why that has such a wide appeal. I never really liked how not melodic it all is...But its another bunch of people (guys this time) dancing around and singing and Red Hot Chili Peppers who have yet to discover the t-shirt :laugh3::laugh4:... Come on Coldplay can put up a 10X better show than this (and without showing off Will biceps even LOL) What with all the confetti, xylobands and whatnot! Pffff.....honestly :nod::phu::pleased: Edit: At last Uptown Funk sounds like a decent fun song :)

Maybe its a "pay" channel? Like Sky or something? Denmark is not even on the list...no broadcast here except in the cinema.

To be dutiful Im watching past halftimes, now just watching Beyoncé and maybe I just don't get it..but I don't see whats so special about it? She is putting up her show, dancing and all that and singing her hits I presume (I really confirmed I don't like her music for the most part haha). I mean its a good show for those who like her...but why do Coldplay and others say its amazing memorable and whatnot? And the last part with her kissing Obama and all that.. just......well, downright weird. It seems like she really believes she is royalty or something? *LOL*

My parents passed away when I was little and I was raised by my foster mum, but I remember them well enough and I was incredibly close to both of them. There have been many moments in my life where I missed them (despite my foster mum being amazing!) and still do sometimes. I especially missed things like my dad teaching me how to shave for the first time while mum would look at us proudly or teaching me how to smoke a pipe (he used to smoke a pipe and I always wanted to imitate him when I´d grow up!), so throughout my life I used to put on this song and imagine my dad ´d sing it to me...that I would/could become a man , even if he was not physically by my side. With faith and understanding you will journey from boy to man...

Im sorry to read this! I think this forum has fewer strifes now than it used to have. I had hoped we could all find a place here where to share with like-minded in the best way as for us all to co-exist. I personally would find it a great loss for Oldplayers to go away....but I also wish you the best in your life!

So Beyoncé debuts a new song during someone else's halftime and this someone else does not debut their new single featuring Beyonce during their own halftime. Yep makes all very much sense! :freak::freak::inquisitive:

True. But they are apparently selling out stadiums already now in the USA so I'm thinking they should not be afraid to play the new songs, get the obvious promotion that comes from a show like this. Others have done it in the past (I.e. Madonna for example)

Yes good point! Sadly this is gonna mean we'll probably have to sit through a Beyoncé song, not a Coldplay song feat Beyonce. I hope I'm wrong.

Oh yes his self deprecating humor can be misunderstood everywhere but while I was watching the press conference I was thinking "oh no Chris this is probably the worst occasion and the worst audience for you to start being all humble...it will be misunderstood". Culturally America is the place where people are absolutely least ashamed of celebrating their success and capabilities is what I meant. And SuperBowl being a gargantuan deal it requires even more confidence. They looked to be a bit out of their depth imo when they are absolutely capable of pulling this off. I just wish for this one time they could just say "yes it's gonna be a blast and we'll put on an amazing show!" Them sitting there and being all humble is likely to just fuel the skepticism and dissent the media already promotes :-/

You mean the "leaked" uptown funk or some other song? Having Beyoncé there and not playing Hymn is practically almost daft...but yeah we ll see how the show comes out. I sincerely hope we won't have to sit through several non-Coldplays songs, even if they are bits it's still time taken from the 12 minutes. Also I usually don't mind Chris self deprecating comments (here in Europe we find them often charming) but in the USA I'm afraid they might come off as them not being confident enough in their material (good enough). USA don't have a "tradition" of self deprecating attitude in my experience. I think Chris was exaggerating with those comments during the press conference.... That kinda bothered me a bit. It was a bit too much all that "Beyonce (and everyone else under the sun) is the goddess and we are lucky if we get to polish her shoes" kinda talk :-/

I hope it was a "fluke" and that they are actually gonna play it....anything else in my eyes would be ridiculous especially as you have Beyonce right there! I can see what you are saying, but I don't think its a bad thing at all. it would be the obvious choice for a unique occasion like this.

If I remember correctly Madonna sang her brand new single at her Super Bowl halftime in 2012: "Give me all your loving", which came out as a single I believe only two days prior to the Super Bowl performance!

The MX concert poster you have is identical to mine (mine is just bigger) The Viva poster you have is identical from mine, from Wembley and I had my wembley passes attached to it like you have your ticket haha (I keep my butterfly confetti under my coaster in the living room LOL) I had a similar Viva poster to the one where they are all sat down. mine was the one where Chris I think is on a unicycle or something. I packed it away for lack of space. Ill take some pics later myself. I would be nice to see what everyone has :D

I have imagination aplenty as well...what I lack is the "lyrics database in my head" haha I can sing along to most songs but I cant recall many on command :) And no don't give me "Google" again haha I somehow find thats a bit like cheating, not using my "natural Coldplay fan" knowledge hahaha

I was curious about this actually....What Coldplay posters do you guys have in your place? Currently I have... -a "widescreen" MX Tour poster of the xylobands lit stadium seen from the angle of Will from my concert in Paris - "True Love" and "Sky Full Of Stars" posters from charity auction sale of the artist. (I´d actually only ordered Sky but Love arrived with it! Now they are companions to each other next to my bed ) -The MX graffiti poster from inside the special edition of the album in my hall I have a Viva poster packed away and a giant one I´ve yet to hang cuz I need a big house *lol* How about posting some pics of our posters here on this thread? :)

I was looking for a thread about "favorite lyrics" so I thought I´d try and post in this one...it would be nice to get it revived! If someone knows of a more active thread, let me know! Post a or several Coldplay lyrics which mean something to you, your favourites and tell us why ! I´ll start by mentioning one lyrics which comes to mind as one of my favourites: "Be a bright red rose come bursting the concrete" This lyric was the one which stood out as the best for me in MX when I first heard it and later learnt it was the band´s original inception idea for the whole album. The analogy of the concrete and the rose is just wonderful. Its my favorite for several reasons: the contrast of the grey concrete and the red rose, something harsh/boring/hard/dead a seemingly insurmountable obstacle and then the red rose, bright, fragrant, alive, delicate yet so strong that it can "burst through the concrete". Its life vs death, responding to something "mean and hard" with positivity, love and exuberant enthusiasm. Back when MX came out, I was going through the most revolutionary period of my life where I was witness every day to how something so fragile and delicate as love was changing my life, breaking patterns that had stayed rigid for years and helping me achieve seemingly the impossible. I was witnessing the red rose of love bursting the hard concrete of my stagnant life :) So thats one of my lyric! I would love to hear yours! :D
