I always play this followed by Another´s Arms, from the iTunes Festival. For some reason I always see them together now, with Magic fitting right in as well. It bodes well for the cohesiveness of Ghost Stories. Can´t wait to experience the whole package from start to finish. It´s gonna be epic!

Sorry to put a damper but I was and still am crazy about MX and I honestly love all the 4 Ghost Stories we have heard so far. I certainly did not expect MX-part two and I am happy the band delivers yet another different album. I like all their past catalogue: there are gem songs I love in each album. And I just love the way they have continuously changed. I hope they always keep it up cuz it´s exciting! Everything will one day become past catalogue hehe MX was the best live album imo, so vibrant and alive! I wud certainly miss those songs if they did not play them live. I feel the same! I have high expectations now! I look forward to seeing the full package. There is also something to be said about hearing the finished album from first to last song, where each track is in its proper place and get the vibe of the flow in the album. That can also change one´s perception of a song a lot!

They are both love songs, simple love songs so the lyrics are incredibly similar. Of the two if I had to pick I´d pick Another, because I like parts like "your body on my body" or that fact that using the simple concept of "another´s arms" in a few words you can have a full understanding of the longing this person feels and how no one else can replace that special one, in fact to the point that any other´s arms are "torture to me". I loved this part a lot, very intense. So yeah I guess like everything ppl see different things in lyrics. Chris is very much aware of this! hehe But I think that you can´t have everything I suppose! Chris is a master songwriter, writes tunes half the musical world envies! So yeah maybe he is strong in music and weak in lyrics, but personally it never bothered me and I actually find he can come up with beautiful metaphors (like "rose bursting through the concrete").

Live version is mesmerising and I was surprised at how well Chris pulled it off, considering it must be a hard song to sing live and it was the first time they performed it :) Live it´s gonna be AMAZING! :D

Definitely! The best songs I like now were always slow growers on me. I did like the vibes on both this and Another immediately but the more I listened to them, the more I could appreciate all the nuances (Jonny Jonny! hehe) and now I really really love them :) I think the song is too short cuz it´s so good it should be longer hehe But I do like the ending and especially the lyrics in the ending :) OOOOOOOH YES!!!!! I just need a special super duper deluxe edition to be announced so I can throw my money at it! hehe Can´t wait to see the bromance evolve in the new tour hehe :P

Ok maybe I am overthinking this, but I was watching the iTunes performance again yesterday and it strikes me: the fact that Chris has a white shirt and the others have black shirts is like the cover of Ghost Stories. Dark background and the white wings in the middle. It would be super cool if they were related! haha

LOL That kinda would explain a lot! Actually I was listening to Rush, X&Y, Viva and MX two days ago, one after the other and that´s the thing that strikes me most, is how different they are really from one another. It´s awesome to get a brand new vibe in each album! Of course some songs/albums are better executed than others, but overall I just love the variety! They are masters at changing style, whilst keeping the essential Coldplay signature :) I listened again to the new Ghost Stories songs many times. And I can´t at all find anything cheesy about that. Chris lyrics were always mostly simple (look at the stars, how they shine for you? hehe), but there is a sincerity to them that always moves me so I think they fit the band very nicely! That´s also why a lot of people don´t like Coldplay: they just don´t get their simplicity and unabashed sincerity. I cud not agree more!! I find the song absolutely divine! This song as well as Always In My Head also have for me the two best Jonny riffs ever. They are SOOO enchanting! They just pull you along weaving their magic around you :)

Haunting is probably the main reason I love the song! Everything about is haunting and I can´t resist that vibe hehe

Sounds like the song overall does not resonate with you. It happens :) I did not like Magic on first listens, but now I love it, so :)

Haha well that goes without saying...what I want to know is WHY people find Another´s Arms cheesier :) Any of you can elaborate why exactly? :)

They do sound a bit jarring I must admit...I am sure they will work out a setlist that will put them in the proper order. After all they have been playing low key songs in their setlist before, like Scientist, Til Kingdom come or UATW. We will just have MORE low key songs this time around, but could you imagine a Charlie Brown low key version ? *cringes*

I listened to both new songs 20 times already...I hate it when they drop stuff so early and it ends on youtube hehe Same happened with MX. I had raped the hell out of the replay button with Charlie Brown and such months before release date....*groans* :)

I just find Always in my head can be deemed just as cheesy ? I mean they are both simple love songs, as Magic is I suppose as well.

I have not noticed before but Always in my head has super simple lyrics as well, so not seeing why Another´s arms should be deemed cheesier? I think all the songs so far fit the bill of simple direct lyrics (except Midnight perhaps, they are bit more intricate/symbolic?)

I love the outfits! It shows that they care each aspect of the show, not only the music. But after Viva and MX it´s time for something more simple so I would welcome that :)

I am pretty sure it´s a woman? Anyway I asked the Oracle about it. Let´s see if she picks the question? Also were there not some rumours about Ghost Stories featuring a famous female singer cameo?

Well now now haha Whether Chris wears a white shirt or not, it does not change the fact that the new uniforms, if that´s what they are, SEEM to resemble the ones in the Rush era, so I don´t expect them to suddenly pull a whole new uniform style during the next performance. That was my point. Regardless , it will be exciting to see how this evolves as we get more clues.

SO much Jonny in the new tracks! He is like everywhere, Chris has relegated the role as front man to Jonny´s able hands haha So happy to see him shine in the Ghost Stories tracks we have heard so far. And also he was playing piano during Magic :)

It´s torture to me, another´s arms...

Well it was the first time it was used...first times are always unpredictable. If they plan to keep it, I am sure it will look great in later performances! Well yes a couple appear to be grey, I meant that in the shot there is no white t-shirt, so it can go either way with the new uniforms...

Ok I am waiting for someone else in this community to join me in proclaiming Another´s Arms EPIC. That someone, are you out there somewhere? LOL I saw the reaction on twitter and people seem to really be taken with this song, a bit like they were with Fix you, so I am thinking it will be well-received for sure :)
