How did you manage to count exactly the duration of the event? Did you set a stop watch or you counted it yourself silently or did you tell your friends earlier that it might happen so that they can be prepared and count exactly how many seconds it was when it happened? Well honesty is the way to go. For example, when my friend ask me whether she looked nice or not and if I don't think she does, I'll put it this way: 'For me I'm not really a fan of the dress/shoes/hair/whatever on you. But if you are comfortable in it then go ahead' Same goes to other questions. For me I can't force my opinion upon a person, but when they ask for it, I'll be honest, but I'll make sure I put it in a way that they know I'm not trying to bring them down. I think they deserve to know the truth, and also it's easier to build people's trust in that way.
