It's been 7 years since Coldplay's last official DVD - and I haven't heard any news what's happening with their Viva Tour DVD? (I've heard lots of rumours that they were waiting for the Latin part of the tour before completing it - but that was several months ago now) Does anyone know if/when a Viva DVD is being released?

Track does, no doesn't Track haunts me, because it came along during the grieving process for someone I lost recently at the time. The sentiments of the song fit in with my thoughts at the time. Fan of photography & Guy but... I'm a huge photography fan and a fan of Guy, but the external comms/ EMI peeps who coordinate these competions don't do the band justice IMO. The last one (the video competition) fans were left unsure if the band had received their entries or not, and then wondering what was happening. In addition, there was not even a "thank you for your entry" etc. If it's peeps @ EMI who let the band down, Coldplay or Chris need to "have words".... they don't represent the politeness of the band at all.

Yeah, but presumably he isn't living in a cave in Belsize Park these days and it's pretty hard to escape the fact a General Election is coming in just 2 weeks time in the UK :P Their website seems pretty active with news items despite not touring, so I'm sure he would announce it if he wanted. :)

Fans becoming a nuisance? I'm not sure that's strictly true. In the week up to their September '09 performance at Wembley I heard stories of someone making a nusiance of themself with Chris' neighbour outside his house; and people pushing mountains of stuff throught their letterbox at the Bakery. People shouldn't let their enthusiam for the band overspill into disrespectful or stalking behaviour IMO. We are quick to hurl abuse at the press for making their lives a misery and not respecting their privacy, and yet a small minority of fans behave in an equally disrespectful way. Please treat the band as you would want to be treated and not disrespect their right to privacy.

Coldplay (or the Anchorman) recently published that Chris wanted a model solar system for inspiration for their next album I remember reading once somewhere that Chris was a fan of Doctor Who. The new theme tune (premiered on 3rd April on BBC 1) seems to be very disliked, see: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/haveyoursay/2010/04/did_you_watch_the_new_doctor_w.html So.. it got me thinking.. with their fondness for experimentation with new instruments and their collaboration with Brian Eno who has always produced some great "spaced out" tracks (the Ascent springs to mind).... why don't Coldplay offer the BBC 4-5 versions of the theme for the next series?

Most of the time scrum halfs (save from the lineout ball) don't have to catch the ball but have to retrieve it (from scrums) - from the floor, so Chris may be OK there! Is Chris clumsy with balls? I thought he has good dexterity? (being a pianist)

Coldplay for curling? Which one's the curler and which one's the sweeper? I can just see it now: "I used to sweep the ice Feel the fear in my enemies' eyes" :)

Place the four members of the band into a sports team (obviously Phil would be the manager!) My guess for a "Coldplay sport" would be footie (Jonny & Will) or cricket (Chris) but I'll start the ball rolling (or should that be bouncing :)) with Rugby: Chris - definitely the scrum half of the team. Not really the height (they're usually short) but his skinny build and live wire movements on the stage and bundle of energy and enthusiam all scream "scrum half" to me (the fast guy that's the centre of attention on a rugby pitch - getting the ball out of the scrums and passing it quickly onto the backs - a pivotal man on the team). Plus, every scrum half I've ever met is a chatterbox, a live wire and can talk and charm for England and loves being the centre of attention. Def Chris. Jonny - given his footballing skills he may be more suited to be a back, but to me he looks more like a prop forward than a back. His combination of a quiet, softly-spoken personality but enjoying being "up front" would place him as a flanker in the scrum (it's the quiet ones you always have to watch). Will- He looks like a prop forward and his stocky build suits that position. If ever Coldplay had a ready made bouncer, surely it'd be Will? Guy - the athlete of the band, definitely a fast sprinter. His good looks and always turning out in pristine clothes definitely places him as a back - a wing three-quarter lets say. He likes to look good, he doesn't like getting dirty; he has the attention of all the girls (and some guys :) ) and he gets all the attention when he scores the try the others have set up for him. Def a winger! Place the band in other sports....

Well he hardly knows what planet he's on: God only knows what his hard core fans are like! :)

There's no reason why the butterflies can't be used again for LIJ - with other new effects for the other songs. Much as I think they want to move on ditch a lot of the ideas of this tour, I have a feeling the Yellow balloons and Butterflies may make a return!

Viva Angie too! It was also a bereavement for me too that got me more involved in being a fan. Someday, I hope I do get to meet the band in person to thank them for their music because I found both VLV and X&Y very helpful to me in the grieving process. This blog has just confirmed what I had already guessed... Coldplay are thoroughly nice guys through and through
