Gwyneth...
don't know if it's been posted but, I went on the daily telegraph's website today and found this: Gwyneth Paltrow slammed by experts over shampoo cancer claim Actress Gwyneth Paltrow's claims that shampoo is linked to cancer have been branded "loopy" and "nonsense" by scientists. by Ian Johnston Last Updated: 12:47AM BST 05 Apr 2009 Paltrow described on her website how she was "seized with fear" over the threat from "environmental toxins" and quoted a paediatrician in the US who claims children are at risk from chemicals found in everyday items such as shampoo, cleaning products, paint, carpets, toys and home furnishings. However experts accused her of scaremongering and said there was no evidence to support the idea. She wrote on her website goop.com: "A couple of years ago, I was asked ti give a quote for a book concerning environmental toxins and their effects on our children. "While I was reading up on the subject, I was seized with fear about what the research said. Foetuses, infants and toddlers are basically unable to metabolise toxins the way that adults are and we are constantly filling our environments with chemicals that may or may not be safe. "The research is troubling; the incidence of diseases in children such as asthma, cancer and autism have shot up exponentially and many children we all know and love have been diagnosed with developmental issues like ADHD [Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder]." However Hugh Pennington, emeritus professor of bacteriology at Aberdeen University, who advised the Food Standards Agency, said: "It does annoy me when celebrities use their position to spout nonsense. They have a perfect right to their views, even if they are loopy, but they do hold a position of influence. You might as well ask someone on the Underground. "Shampoo is perfectly safe, unless you drink it in large quantities. There has been an obsession about carcinogenic chemicals for years and we have been successful in getting rid of most of them." Dr Lesley Walker, of Cancer Research UK, said childhood cancer rates had not gone up dramatically, saying there had been "very little change during the past 10 years". "There are a lot of scare stories around environmental carcinogens, but there is scant evidence to back this up." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/5107744/Gwyneth-Paltrow-slammed-by-experts-over-shampoo-cancer-claim.html

forming a band
I formed a band about 3 or 4 years ago in my Music class with a friend. We recruited other people, but the guitarist could hardly play at all and the singer didn't feel comfortable singing in front of people, so they both ended up leaving. So then we recruited another guitarist. Our guitarist's friend would always come up and watch us practise, so he ended up being our rhythm guitarist. Last year, even though none of us really talked about it, we kind of broke up. Our lives had also become a lot busier and every 2nd week our drummer lived 40 mins away, which meant we could only practise every second week on the weekend. The lead guitarist was a metal guitarist, and I was more of a funk bass player which made the situation difficult. Then when we actually tried to compose our own songs every single time he would come up with basically the same metal riff. I think we all just ended up frustrated with each other. Make sure you have good chemistry with the people in the band, because especially when you play live, if you guys have a good connection it'll make for a good performance. With my band, I had to many preconceived ideas of how the band should be, which made me incredibly annoyed with it. Just remember the Beatle line "Let it be";) and when making decisions, make sure it is a band decision and that you are all equal :)

Coldplay Dreams
I had a dream ages and ages ago that I was at a Coldplay concert. I think it was right before they announced the Australian tour. Firstly, as an opening act was Madonna, with Steve Parker from the TV show Neighbours playing with her on drums. Then on came Coldplay! And I just remember Chris splitting his pants:sneaky: was a good dream! This is kind of Coldplay related: the night before I went to see Coldplay in Sydney, I had a dream I was having a BBQ at someone's house. They gave me the chicken off the barbie and I looked at them and said "This isn't cooked properly". To that they replied "yeah it is, it just looks that way because it was cooked on the BBQ". So I started eating into it (for some reason the chicken looked like fish with gravel in it) and then I noticed it wasn't cooked properly and said "how dare you feed me chicken that isn't cooked properly! I have to see Coldplay tommorow and your trying to give me salmonella poisoning:angry: and then I tried to spew it all up, because no way was I gonna get sick for Coldplay!
