it's not that i "prefer the new sound" becuase VLV isn't my favorite coldplay album, but the fact that they leaped miles out of their comfort zone to do it is held in high respect. i love all the albums, and i can appreciate them all in different ways. i don't necessarily agree with you saying that lost! and lovers in japan are two of the best songs but we are all entitled to our opinions. Parachutes sure is genius, but VLV sure isn't bland. There are sounds and patterns used in VLV that i've never really heard anywhere else. :)
