Post piccies of the sexy Mr Berryman..
Wow!! This thread was so nice because of the all the pictures, which I like to use for avatars and sigs, but what has happened? IMO, I don't know how anyone could call her a name when you don't even know her personally. But more importantly, dissing her is being disrespectful to Guy and to Nico because 1) they ended their marriage on amicable terms and 2) she is the mother of his daughter. So lets leave her out of this and just keep posting nice pics of Guy.

Does it make you mad when....
1) No, it does not make me mad because it's silly to get mad over something like that. 2) There are different levels of fans. You have your hardcore fans who buy everything and anything of Coldplay no matter what (that's me). Then, you have your average fan who likes Coldplay but does not buy everything and anything dealing with Coldplay. Finally, there are the beginner fans who are now just getting acquainted with the band. Some of the beginner fans progress to the other fan levels at a rapid speed while others go much slower or they simply don't progress to the other levels. 3) All that matters is that these "fans" show respect to the band. If they don't show respect then they never were a "fan". 4) What does make me mad is when women say they like band, or any other entity, all because someone is cute. I've encountered that a lot and that irks me to no end. There's nothing wrong in saying someone is cute but to only like a band or a sports team or any other entity just because someone is cute is plain stupid.

Why Viva La Vida wasn't as good as AROBTTH
If you want to hear sappy love/angst songs then listen to Adult Contemporary Radio where you can hear Barry Manilow, Josh Groban, and others ( BTW...I like those two guys music. LOL!) Every song is about emotion, but it all depends on what you're looking for. Some folks may not get something out of VLV but others can. It hits a nerve in them because there's something in those songs that they can relate to. That, IMO, is the most important thing. It doesn't matter what the song is about or what theme an artist is aiming for, all songs have emotion in. You just have to relate to it to truly see it.

Coldplay @ GRAMMY Awards 2009 | Performed Lost & Viva La Vida | WON 3 AWARDS! [PICTURES/VIDEOS IN FI
This is just your opinion. Radiohead's music might make you s**t your pants because, IYO, it's so good but for someone else it might make them turn off the stereo. And the same can be said of Coldplay's music. Some people hear VLV hear something different and innovating, for them, but others might hear the same old commercial pop. In the end, musicial tastes are just opinions and not facts, and that's what makes any award show interesting. They reward based on opinion and not concrete facts.

Night! I know I need to go to bed early because we're getting bad weather tonight and school may be delayed or closed tomorrow. In order to find out I need to get up even earlier. I hate getting up early.

Jim Morrison was one very special dude. He had such an appeal that can not be denied. He had the moves, the looks, and the voice that hypnotized people.

I read somewhere that you like ABBA and I love ABBA's music. ABBA is my dad's favorite band. We had a cat, whose name was ABBA, that had a litter of kittens (2 boys and 2 girls) and we named the kittens after the band members. LOL!!!! :laugh3:

Join the club. I see you have "I don't care" written under your name, and now I am singing Phil Collings. He has that song where he sings, "I don't care any more whoa". :laugh3: I like his music along with Genesis.

I said it was old. LOL!! My high school was not my age when she played that music in class. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with old music. :D

Here you go, Carla. My high school Spanish teacher played this song in class a few years ago. It's an old song. I know she got it when she was in college and studying in Spain but I don't know how old the song is. It's probably really, really old. LOL!! Anyway, I think this song is so pretty and sad. Coldplay @ GRAMMY Awards 2009 | Performed Lost & Viva La Vida | WON 3 AWARDS! [PICTURES/VIDEOS IN FI
^^^ You brought up a really good point and that is the different sounds that Coldplay used on VLV, and that is something that could benefit them. The fact that Coldplay was different, not what many may say was their ususal self or sound, could sawy voters to vote for them because of that change. For many voters, the progress is respected more than the same old sound, style, lyrics, and so forth. Of course, this is not always the case but it is something that is respected by the industry.

You're not comparing VLV to any of Radiohead's back catalogue. You can only compare the overall quality of VLV and In Rainbows. It doesn't matter what either one of the bands did previously because that is not what they are being judged on. They're being judged on those persepctive CDs and that's it. VLV may be a "great Pop" CD but the Grammy voters are going to vote on the overall quality of that CD when compared to the pop genre/CDs and the other nominated CDs. The Grammys are not going to look at who's the most accomplished band and who's more musicially incline (for the idiots who think that way), though at times they have done that, but that is what got them into trouble. They are looking for the overall quality whether we agree with it or not. Personally, I want VLV to win but I would not be surprised to see an upset in this category. I would not be surprised to see the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss CD win Best Album. You have a country singer who is very well liked by the Grammy voters and a Rock icon performing together. That combination appeals to two types of voters...the rockers and the country folk.

Entertainment Weekly doesn't know crap. I just hate it when these writers think that so and so (insert any name here) doesn't deserve to win. I just wish these writers be open minded and not let their feelings about an artists determine influence their writing. If MIA wins Song of the Year then I will scream. I don't understand that song, if you want to call it that. I can't make out any of the words she is saying. It's all mumble, jumble to me. And the gunshots and cash registers ringing are annoying as hell. If they reward that song then I can see them awarding Lil' Wayne.

I'm talking about Lil' Wayne and why he probably was nominated. Coldplay's sales were phenomenal but they did not sell over a million copies in a week. Sales for CDs have not really been that good, so when a CD sales that many then the Grammys are going to take notice. Heck, I'm not familiar with the rapper but I even noticed his sales. That is impressive considering the economy. Old school rap was about the issues facing the African-American community. Today's rap is not about that. With the excpetion of Outkast, 99.9999% of rap sucks balls. In the big categories like Album of the Year, voters from all the music categories get to vote and I can not imagine a voter from country music voting for him and that is why I don't think he'll get it.

They deserve what award? All of them? Or some of them? As much as one likes the band, one still has to be impartial in the whole process. That's not to say that the voters are impartial because I don't think they are but they are supposed to be impartial. I personally would award them all 7 awards because I think the quality of music is better, but that is not what the voters may think. Listen...I am just trying to point out some issues with the Grammys. You may not like what I say but it's how the business goes. Though things lately have been turned upside down, the Grammy can, do, and have follow certain patterns. So, just ignore what I say.

Thanks for posting that lyric. Like I said, I am not familiar with Lil' Wayne but, out of due respect, there is a stereotype in rap music that rappers rap about shooting and that is not always the case. It sounds like you guys are awarding Lil' Wayne already. You have to remember, you don't know what is going through the voters minds when they vote. The main reason why his CD nominated is because of the sales. It sold over a million copies in its first week. The Grammys tend to give nominations based on things like that, but that does not mean he will win it. Personally, I don't think he will, but they are willing to acknowledge the fact that he set a record which is what they like to do.

Rap music is popular music but I would not say that a lot of people like it. It appears that way because of the media. Anyways, most rap music buyers are white teenagers and not African-Americans so it makes sense that it appears to be the most popular because white teenagers is the targeted audience of the media. Personally, I don't think all rap is bad. I think Outkast truly deserve Album of the Year a few years ago. Now, I have not heard Lil' Wayne's CD but do we know for sure that he's talking about shooting people? I know sex is a big theme on his CD but I don't know about shooting. The reason why I am asking this is because of the stereotype of rappers rapping about shooting, and that is not always the case. Perfect example: Outkast. The thing that might hurt Coldplay, at least in the Record of the Year category, is the fact that they won that category not that long ago. The voters might not want to give it to them again so soon. Plus, the voters tend to go in cycles. One year rap music is honored more, then another year rock is honored more, and so forth. If I remember correctly, rock music was the big winner a few years ago with Green Day and U2 taking the big awards.

Things people who claim to be a coldplay fan should NEVER say
So, if someone does not like a few of their songs that means that they are not true fans? I like all their songs but if someone does not like a few of their songs I would not think that they're not true fans. I think true fans are honest enough to say, "Yeah, I am not that crazy about that song". I think anyone is a true fan if they are really into the band whether they like all their songs or dislike a few of their songs.

Coldplay to perform at SuperBowl XXXVI?
Actually, the culture of the Super Bowl, as far as the music goes, is really marching bands. It wasn't until the 80's (I think) that they start asking artists to perform. The point is....the Super Bowl and all its dynamics have changed with the times and it will keep changing. One day they might be asked to perform or they might not. One never knows.

Coldplay to perform at SuperBowl XXXVI?
The Super Bowl is not a brand name. It's a major sporting event just like the WC and the Olympics. These events are huge and reach far across the spectrum. Any artist that performs at the Super Bowl are not promoting the Super Bowl, they are promoting themselves and their music. I am not saying that they would perform at the Super Bowl if they were ever ask, but I'm sure they would at least think about it. Performing at the Super Bowl is considered to be a honor for many because of it's magnitude.

Coldplay to perform at SuperBowl XXXVI?
They've had "newer" artists perform at the Super Bowl. There was No Doubt, Shania Twain, Justin Timberlake, and many others. The reason why they have been going with some of the more established artists is because of Nipple Gate. Remember? Janet Jackson exposing her boob on TV due to Justin grabbing her top. That is the reason why the NFL has stopped using MTV Productions to produce their Super Bowl show. The NFL wants performers who will put on a good show, who won't offend the advertisers, the FCC, and families, and who respect the guidelines that the NFL has set up. A few years ago, Prince performed, and he may not have been the best choice to some, but he met those guidelines. Personally, I don't have a problem with their musicial choices. I have liked them all. 1) It has nothing to do with the fact that they are not American. (They've had non-Americans perform). 2)It has nothing to do wiht the notion that they are too "poppy" for a Super Bowl show. (Check out some of their past performers to see that is not the case) 3) It has nothing to do with people not liking them. 4) I don't think the NFL cares whether the guys know the difference between a touchback and a safety. Never say never. One day the NFL may ask Coldplay to perform, and I am sure the guys would accept because it's one of the biggest sporting events in the world. Then again, the NFL may not ask them, and if they don't ask them it is not because of those reasons. Nipple Gate changed everything, and IMO, it changed it for the better. The NFL has guidlelines and a lot of those artists were not respecting those guidelines.
