  1. Well, from the time given at the official site, Coldplay should have been on the stage right now. How much more time? Any idea?
  2. Wait for sometime, You will eventually get to the Q page. Then arrange the covers in a manner prioritizing the bands *cough* Coldplay first *cough* and then click Submit!
  3. In my opinion, U2's "Achtung Baby" was very versatile and showcased band's ability to try different things and succeed. "Mylo Xyloto" can be headed that way, too.. With several mixed influences and styles, it can be exceptionally well. On the contrary, With "Pop", U2 were unable to judiciously use technology to their songs and if the same happens with Coldplay with over production and infusion of techno bits at every stage, they might hit a new low (which I don't think they will, Just saying).
  4. Q Magazine is asking you to arrange 25 different artists (with their covers that is) and then when an order is decided, submit your selection to decide the Greatest Artist in the last 25 years. Includes Coldplay as well. http://www.qthemusic.com/promo/q25/?action=create
  5. Loved the interpretation. Now, even I tend to perceive the song in a similar way! Thank You!
  6. I liked "Suck It And See", not their best (that was "Humbug" in my opinion) but a good album none the less. Thanks!
  7. I don't think "Paradise" is a horrible song (in my opinion). Well, when "Brick By Brick" by Arctic Monkeys came, it wasn't that impressive but it fits in "Suck it and See" quite nicely. So, let's hope same goes for Mylo Xyloto as well.
  8. Thanks! I still think we shouldn't term this as "mulligan". Crazy Coldplay fans like us are very impatient, and rightly so.. When you have your favorite band release a record after almost 3 years in the making and the singles are not as good as you expect them to be, frustration is bound to built up. But the wise thing to do right now is to wait till 24th October and then decide whether this is a Achtung Baby or Pop. (The prospect for "The Joshua Tree" seems very distant though) Thanks again.. Don't Panic!
  9. Let's just say that this album turns out to be as bad as some are predicting it to be.. It shouldn't mean that Viva was the last record. U2 came out of "Pop" to reclaim the best band in the world position with "All That You Can't Leave Behind". So can Coldplay with another record, IF in fact this turns out to be a disappointment.

NME Review: http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=140&p=11097&title=coldplay_paradise_review&more=1&c=1 Coldplay, ‘Paradise’ – Review It said something that the optimistic euphoria of Coldplay’s last single ‘Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall’ was more palatable when it was covered by Robyn. The music-makes-it-all-better sentiment and the day glo rhythms felt slightly forced coming out of Chris Martin’s mouth, whereas there was an ease and conviction to the whole thing when Ms Carlsson was delivering the same lines. ‘Mylo Xyloto’ is set to reverberate with more pop sensibilities- Rihanna is to make an appearance on ‘Princess Of China’, so it’s no surprise that new single ‘Paradise’ takes the normal Coldplay model and gives it a chart-friendly make over. There’s the dropped drum beat, the vaguely dubstep-like bassline and the "Para-para-paradise" hook of the chorus. This is all played over a New Age-ish sounding backing; strings, the familiar simple piano riff and, eventually, a choir who intone a "Woah-oh-oh-oh" line. It’s hard to say what the band is aiming for with the song. To replicate he epic football stadium “moment” of ‘Yellow’? The energy of a ‘Viva La Vida’? If so it doesn’t quite work on either count. ‘Paradise’ feels both slightly listless and muddled. The “hip” new sonic treatments sound out of date (there's a mid-noughties vibe about the whole thing) and the chorus comes off as a weak facsimile of what Coldplay have done effortlessly in the past; specifically that people-uniting aspect. Whilst Coldplay’s pop makeover may be - for them at least- quite revelatory, it feels like Chris Martin’s populist songwriting tendencies have been clipped. Ultimately it feels like a few steps back rather than forward. Fans react on NME: http://www.nme.com/news/coldplay/59172 (ouch!)
  11. Sorry, that NME article is a fan reaction column. I meant this: http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=140&p=11097&title=coldplay_paradise_review&more=1&c=1
  12. Let's just say the mood in the fan camp and even the critics (http://www.nme.com/news/coldplay/59172) is not very hopeful. I am waiting for 24th October.
  13. Thanks! It's nice to see a positive response.
  14. My two cents http://the-secret-chords.blogspot.com/2011/09/why-i-am-not-giving-up-on-coldplay-yet.html
  15. The signs right now, for a die-hard fan is looking grim. The vibe around the built up to the album is that of doubt, fear and uncertainty. My two cents: http://the-secret-chords.blogspot.com/2011/09/why-i-am-not-giving-up-on-coldplay-yet.html
  16. No. (It would have been announced by now)
  17. Any professional reviews? From a newspaper or music related magazine?
  18. Adding three new songs to the set list before the album release. Is that the best idea in the world?
  19. Exactly. And thanks for going through the review.. At least someone is.
  20. Random Posting. Just wrote the review for Red Hot Chili Peppers new record.. I had previously rated and reviewed several other albums by Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Linkin Park, Brandon Flowers, Arcade Fire and more... Many posts including Year end lists of Top songs and albums of 2010, records you may have missed this year etc. Comparison of Zune with iTunes and how the former is a better software. Link: http://the-secret-chords.blogspot.com/ Let me know how you find it. Thanks.
  21. Not just Fail, EPIC FAIL. I admit it. Was really fatigued out while writing it and sorry for the mistake. I usually make it a rigid point to avoid a factual error as that.. I know Slovak was the founding member and a guitarist, I think my head was somewhere else. Thanks for pointing out the mistake, corrected it. As far as the other points go, I certainly disagree with what you said. But opinions differs and I respect that. By the way, I am fan of RHCP too and loved what they have done in their previous records.
  22. Here's my review of "I’m With You” and how the "Red Hot Chili Peppers" have managed to hit an all-time low without John. The writing on the wall is clear: Perhaps it is the right time for them to call it a day. Album Rating: **1/2 (2.5/5) Link: http://the-secret-chords.blogspot.com/2011/09/im-with-you-by-red-hot-chili-peppers.html Do read all other reviews as well and tell me how you find them. Thanks.
