🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion
Wasn't Coldplay in the studio with some Jazz legends with some folks recently? Chris is so hard to read - would they really sit on an album for an entire year given their 3 year plan here through 2025? I think more likely this is a 2H 2023 release - and maybe a single in June or something like that? So a "bit of time" could mean like 10 months but not necessarily in 2024?

Infinity station session ep
I like the EP! People of the Pride and Coloratura feel great on here; just very crisp almost live sounding versions. POTP is definitive (tbqh). Always good to have a new Christmas Lights rendition too!

World Tour Setlist Predictions for MOTS Era
I agree with all the folks who say infinity sign will transition from c stage to main stage and into last two songs of Sky Full of Stars and Coloratura. My universe may even end main set. Have to think about the full list for a bit.

Music of the Spheres Vol.2 Rumor Thread
Max Martin did have a lot to do with Humankind which is one of the album’s stronger songs, so I wouldn’t discount him. And production is quite good except arguably People of the Pride. what’s the deal with Aurora? It’s just driving me nuts = )

Aurora the lost planet / forgotten song
Can someone ask Phil? What the heck is going on???

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I’ve been using MX to describe the current freak out lol remember liking it and looking at the boards and folks freaking out that Coldplay was OVER a pop soundtrack. honestly every Coldplay album has some freak out except maybe Everyday Life and Viva, whether it’s Aviici collab, pop sounds of MX, this current version or the Beyoncé collab.

I'm totally with you on this one. I like MX a lot and didn't love AHFOD at all. I like MOTS! Ghost Stories is fine, but EL is a jam.

?? Music Of The Spheres // World tour 2022 ??
If I recall last time they waited till they sold through the first set and then added dates, but I guess we'll see. You may notice that there are spaces in that calendar -- and I think they sometimes do two nights at the same venue.

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
This is going to be a bit of a longer post, because a lot of the posts here have been quite thoughtful -- and slightly more naunced than what I've read over at Coldplay reddit. I do think to some extent the album's release has suffered from what I call "MX-itis." I remember when that album came out that people were kind of throwing their hands up and saying "well, that's it?" Coldplay typically pulls two types of releases off: very short schedule (Everyday Life) or the long grind (MOTS/MX). This was the latter, and so we heard five of the main songs before it came out -- and if you count Colortura as two songs worth than most of the album. On the merits, I think this is a strong cohesive effort. Max Martin does a great job on production and it is a lot less washed than say AHFOD. I like the Everyday Life style a lot myself, but I knew walking in that this was a pop album, and I think on that front it really excels. It'll take me a few listens to really figure out what I like the best -- but I am gravitating strongly towards Infinity Sign, Humankind, Human Heart and shockingly to me, Biutyful. Maybe it's something about the chorus which is incredible catchy (love me, love me, love meee) - it's really heartfelt and something that definitely hit me in the heartstrings. It's really simple too. I liked Cry Cry Cry a lot so, maybe this is just built for people like me. In terms of songs I felt the "least"? I'd have to definitely say the transitions that are fine, but whatever. Let Some Body Go is a bit of a grower - I have friends who have instantly connected with it - and those like myself who are trying to find it. I think it's in line with Everglow and Fun though off of recent albums. Let me say a word about Infinity Sign. As a big Don Quixote fan, you can trace its origins back to that tour (especially with the Ole, Ole, part). I like the fact that they stripped the lyrics and that it's a full song. It feels like the sister moon to one of my favorite Coldplay songs of all time - Life in Technicolor. I can't say much more than it hit me in a special spot during a morning run when first unveiling the album today. I can totally see them moving from the B-side to the main stage for an encore during the track. What a gift. And I think like LiT will benefit from not putting lyrics (which haven't been Chris's strong suit in every thing) into it - the ending is haunting. To give Chris some credit, I do think that there is a lot of creativity on this album. Whether it's the Korean parts in My Universe or the way Infinity Sign is set up, or the lyrics to People of the Pride. Can we also say these songs have the best Coldplay outros of any album (Higher Power, POTP, Infinity Sign, Coloratura)? I get why fans get frustrated when Coldplay does a lot of the music unveiling pre-launch (MX-itis). But to me this album is a slam dunk better pop piece than AHFOD. The latter just didn't take the dreamy concept where it could have gone beyond the great Rumi Guest House portions. Plus, the colabs here feel a lot more natural and spurred from interest musically -- though of course BTS will sell albums, both that and the Selena/WeAreKing collabs feel like good female counterparts. Anyways, I won't rate the album yet, but I will say I think there's a lot of nuance on here and for me it's currently ahead of AHFOD and somewhere in the ether space of GS/EL but below MX and Viva.

I think Champion of the World has a chance given that it's mostly a Coldplay song. I LOVE Arabesque but I'm wondering how much Chris would do that unless Femi Kuti is there personally. Church is sort of tough on his vocal range, so that's out. A bunch of the other ones are still kind of small stage - so maybe a b-stage (tops). Everyday Life itself I'm sure will get played at some point. But with the exception of Champion of the World, I don't see them being rotational. Trouble in Town is a great song, albeit pretty heavy too...

Wonder what they play at Global Citizen... would be surprised if they really play a new song given the lengths they went to hide people of the pride? Maybe they go Higher Power >> Clocks >>> Viva La Vida >>> Fix You >> My Universe?

Track 10 - My Universe | Coldplay X BTS | Music of the Spheres
Can you explain playback vocal? Does that mean he isn’t singing the song per se? Does he do that with all songs or just some?

🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I have to say - having seen them over three tours and at the Apollo - this is how Coldplay tours usually start (especially pre-album release). A bit shorter and usually missing some songs. Once the album releases, they'll play mostly everything in it with the exception of a few songs (I know they rarely played Fun from AHFOD, and Don't Let It Break Your Heart until later on in that tour from MX). They'll also add a "here's an old section" of tunes where they'll do something like Magic & Trouble during the previous tour. I do think Chris treats Everyday Life songs quite differently -- he hasn't really seemed to have an interest in playing many of them this tour. I will say they did touch on something from just about every album last night (though I missed Charlie Brown BADLY). The set was about 13 songs and I imagine the full set will be closer to 20 on a world tour... they've just got so many great hits that I'd expect anything beyond Yellow/Scientist/Viva/Fix You to not be a guarantee. Heck, I've seen them go shows without Paradise or Clocks!

[2021-09-23] Apollo Theater (SiriusXM & Pandora Small Stage Series)
Broadcast as in a video broadcast? They did say we would be taped potentially when we talked in. But it will be on SiriusXM today at 5 pm.

Track 07 - People of the Pride | Music of the Spheres | Music Video Out Now!
It’s a very good live song. Super heavy and different — so much that it exhausted the boys after they played it. Chris made Johnny restart AOAL three times. also doesn’t really have a chorus — or the chorus is the super heavy portion lol. I think folks will like it though I can’t see myself constantly repeating

Loved my universe studio. and/but think people will love my universe live. It’s instantly catchy and a nice hit that fits in a different way in the set. The outro brings a paradise tiesto remix fun to the set — was stunning to watch the room react to it. also after all these months watching folks sing higher power live was really nice

Was at the Apollo Show… man are fans on this forum in for a treat. People of the Pride debuted and is defintely the heaviest Coldplay song. Probably more than politik? Oh and it’s incredible. Absolutely stunning. my universe sounds great live and the outro is a lot of fun A striking point but it’s kind of wild that Coldplay can go Clocks > Fix You > Viva La Vida — and you’re like 5 songs into the show. Every album got love except EL = (

[2021-09-23] Coldplay at the Apollo Theater, New York, NY (SiriusXM Invitation Only)
Was at tonight’s show — man are people in for a treat. I wonder if they’ll have people of the pride played for the Sirius audience it truly rocks. oh and for all the my universe concern, it slaps live too. fantastic show they are at the peak of their sound

The iHeartRadio set was awesome - though 25 minutes is definitely not enough for Coldplay now. I sort of wonder how long their sets will be this time. I'll assume they'll do the full MOTS + Viva/Yellow/Fix You/Charlie Brown/ASFOS + some of Magic/Scientist/ETIAW/AOAL/Clocks? Human Heart is shaping up quite nicely. I was a little underwhelmed the first time hearing it live given it's minimalism but the vocal harmony is just so good now that it's a tearjerker

Track 12 - Coloratura | Music of the Spheres
What were the color songs on the other albums again - I know we've had Yellow, Green Eyes, White Shadows, Violet Hill, Charlie Brown - but forgot what we consider the color songs out of the remaining albums (Ghost Stories, AHFOD, EL?)
