U2 vs. Coldplay
Wow. Well, I will just say I am a fan of both Coldplay and U2. I don't feel they are mutually exclusive. I really do not compare them. I don't find it necessary at all to compare my favorite bands. I like them, because they are who they are. Each with a different sound, different lyrical styles, different styles live. We all have influences. Coldplay are indeed influenced by U2. Perhaps here and there you will hear little patters of rain on the windows of their songs that remind you of The Edge. U2 were influenced by a lot of bands. Bono loves John Lennon. So perhaps you will hear a trickle of The Beatles, or hear the influence of John Lennon when Bono speaks out on stage. Am I comparing, no...what I am saying is every band is influenced by, or I guess one can even say practically given birth to, by another band, or bands. All of those sounds mix gently together until you have something new, and amazing. So music will go on forever, with or without petty arguments.

Coldplay @ GRAMMY Awards 2009 | Performed Lost & Viva La Vida | WON 3 AWARDS! [PICTURES/VIDEOS IN FI
I was so thrilled at the three awards Coldplay got! :D I knew that the Robert Plant collaboration was going to take Record of teh year...I was not happy with that, but I felt that is what would happen. I have heard it, it is OK. I do not find it innovative though, and I think Coldplay's record was innovative and their best work to date. So I was sad to see them lost out on that. Sorry I am jumping in late here and these things have probably already been discussed to death. So really let me just say I am really proud they won what they did, and their performance was amazing!

21-Jul-09: Superpages.com Center, Dallas, TX - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews, Setlists, Photos
Thanks texaslovejonny and allegra! I will tell my friend. We are trying for the closest reserved seats. I hope the show is OK. My fiiend has never seen them, so I am worried it will not be the grand experience I had in OKC. I am just getting her into Coldplay. I was kind of surprised about the venue choice as well, adn that they are not hitting either the BOK center here in TUlsa or the Ford Center in OKC again. Two really great venues. Perhaps they are trying to keep ticket prices down?

I am so excited, although I don't know much about the venue in Dallas to be honest. Has anyone been there before? I know it is outdoors. A friend from work and I are going to try to see if we can get tickets to go. Two times in less than a year...I have to say I will feel really blessed if I get tickets. :D

I am so excited to see them performe, and am pulling for them of course for all 7 awards. They do deserve them. I don't say that about many artists, but they really do deserve all 7.

ASpergers, thoughts, comments, discussion
I did not know the singer ladyhawk had it. I have to admit I am not familiar with her, but am interested in checking her out. Sadly I have not read "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon, but have just put it on my to read list. Everyone is spot on about it not being curable. It is treatable I suppose. I have therapy anyway for Bi-Polar disorder, and ADD. So that really helps me. Another thing to that is always of interest for this discussion is the old Mercury Fillings and Childhood Vaccines arguments. AS is a Neurological Disorder, and I feel it is not in anyone's interest to try to be placing blame on something that does not cause it to begin with. I work in the dental field (insurance), and have researched Mercury Fillings. You actually get more Mercury from fish than the fillings. Many people want to find a sure. Which I can understand I suppose. Still, it does nto appear one is in site. It is interesting to read the varying views so far. I was in the middle of a move this weekend. Well I still am. I have been missing the boards!

What is not making you smile/laugh?
The fact that I waited until the last minuet to pack and I am moving tomorrow and Saturday. I am wigging out.

THE GREEN THREAD
I do what I can. We recycle cans and bottles at work, as well as paper, so that is an easy thing. I try to buy things used if I can. I see no need for brand new furniture if I can find the same item used. I bring canvas bags to the grocery store whenever I can. I clean with Vinegar and baking soda as a general rule. It works well. So just little things.

ASpergers, thoughts, comments, discussion
Thanks for ther Wiki info strawberryfields I should have added that. Love that name too. Thanks for the comments. It is a really interesting thing, Aspergers. I did not get diagnosed until I was 35, which is not that uncommon. Surprisingly. However many things made a heck of a lot more sense! I can be a bit eccentric, although I have learned a lot of coping skills over the years. Light really bugs me. Especially from the old style computer monitors. We have those at work and sometimes I have to wear sunglasses. Flouresant lights make me have anxiety and headaches all around. I think one misconception is people with Aspergers are not social people. Which is not true at all. We have no need for constant social interaction, and sometimes hate small talk. Still personally, I enjoy spending time with my friends. We usually get together once a weekend. I am very lucky to have found a group who doesn't even care that I am unusual. LOL Plus right now they are putting up with me talking about Coldplay non-stop.

What is making you smile/laugh?
My 17 year old cat taking over the moving boxes and whacking my younger cat for coming near them, and meowing quite harshly at me for moving him off of a fragile box.

The Confession Thread
I confess I am moving tomorrow and Saturday and have only a little over a 1/ 4 of my things pack. Yet, I am on the board here, when I should be packing.

ASpergers, thoughts, comments, discussion
Hello everyone. I did a search but found nothing on this topic, and thought it might make an interesting conversation. Perhaps you know someone who has it, or have it yourself, or what have you. I personally have it, and I know three others who do as well. It is an interesting thing really. For me it one thing it means I have difficulty expressing emotions. More in the sense that I can not verbalize to someone certain things I am feeling, or thinking. It also means I am not terribly organized, except for my interests. I keep my collectibles organized, for example. Give me a pile of bills and that is much harder for me to sort out. Still life is wonderful, and I am glad I get to have the view I do. Everyone is for different, you know? So it makes the world a great place. I was nervous to start a thread, but as I say, I thought this might be interesting.

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
"Your Love Means Everything"
-
U2
Reading that just made me way more pumped than I already was, which was a lot. Also in answer to another question further up the thread, I do plan on seeing them, as much as I can. I only saw them once last tour. It was my first stadium concert ever. We had crap seats, but it did not even matter. This time I am getting the very closest and best I can afford though.

Things people who claim to be a coldplay fan should NEVER say
I like that :) It is too true.

U2 V.S Coldplay: Round 1 (First Singles, "Violet Hill" V.S "Get On Your Boots")
I am a huge U2 fan, but to be honest, if I compare these two songs "Violet Hill" wins hands down.

U2
Me too! It is great to hear them expanding a bit more, although their last Album was fantastic. One of my favorites. Still after hearing "Get on Your Boots" I am really excited to hear more!
