Charlie Brown New Single - Third single
:o That neon makeup is awe-some :awesome:

Shouldn't they play this live?!
YES YES and YES  I am soso hoping they'll bring this out for the summer stadium UK dates before the Olympics. I think it's one of the best songs on the album and would sound incredible live.

LP6 Worries me
 I agree. More experimental riffs and more Jonny solos. I lovelovelove the heavier parts of Major Minus, HLH and Charlie Brown. MX is definitely bold and energetic but it's not rocky enough IMO. I think A Rush of Blood has the best rock tracks out of all the albums. But I wouldn't mind a whole new album of Parachutes-esque acoustic tracks like they originally planned to do after Viva either - I also have a part of me that sort of wishes they'd go back to basics. I'm not sure I see that happening but I think they might do something a bit more stripped back and subtler next. If they make another album that is... which I'm almost absolutely certain they will. Even if it's 3/4/5 years away, I don't see them going anywhere or splitting up just yet. Oh dear god no :uhoh: :laugh3:

ITV: Coldplay confirmed to perform on X Factor Final on Sunday 11th December at Wembley Arena
Ah right well I did say 'I think' ;) Plus I didn't really think of McCartney as a band per se lol.

ITV: Coldplay confirmed to perform on X Factor Final on Sunday 11th December at Wembley Arena
 LOLZ. Fail. Bet that journalist feels a right numpty  This :D I was not at all happy that they'd agreed to do the show and I absolutely HATED the idea of them dueting with one of the finalists. Thankgod they refused (if the reports are to be believed). As rampantly defensive as I am of the boys, I'm not sure I would have been able to forgive them if they'd gone ahead with a duet :laugh3: So glad they've chosen Charlie Brown as the next single, it's such a euphoric colourful song that epitomises MX as a whole perfectly. And I think they're the only band ever to play two songs on the show in one go. They totally nailed the performance and pretty much stole the show off everyone, including the awful girl band winner. The final results were a total anti-climax after the awesome spectacle of the wristbands and their REAL musical talent :awesome: It was a great idea giving them to the audience for the performance because from what I saw of the reaction on Twitter a lot of viewers (some of which think of themselves as fans :dozey:) had no idea about them or that they'd already been used at previous gigs and were all freaking out over how awesome it was and saying how desperate they were to get tickets to see them live in the sold out summer stadium shows :D Ah, the wonders of flashing wristbands, a bit of confetti and a handsome bass player  Again judging from twitter the publicity they got last night has created a massive jump-on-the-band-wagon following of new fans, particularly teenagers who A. Thought their music was dreary/bland/depressing before they heard Charlie Brown or/and B. Didn't realise how hot Chris Martin was before he got tanned and started going to the gym

Christmas lights gets interupted at under 1 roof
No, they didn't go on to finish the song - I and others around me were really quite disappointed about it :( People were actually booing. Steve Coogan was not a popular man at all! I was especially dissapointed because the guys didn't play it the previous night at the o2 and I was pretty certain they'd play it for the Under 1 roof show since it was a Christmassy charity affair. It would have been the highlight of the evening for me to hear it in full having not been able to go to the one of the Crisis Xmas gigs last year. The worst part was everyone thought Chris would go back to the piano after the little sketch but instead the lights dimmed and then they went straight into playing ETIAW. Which still ended the show on a high but I couldn't understand why they didn't finish it :( I did not appreciate him slagging off the band or the song. It was all in good humour though and Chris seemed amused. It must have been scripted to a degree because Chris and Steve had obviously planned to do the duet of Little Drummer Boy together as part of the encore - it will have been on the set list no doubt. And the banter they had was deliberately funny - Chris's f-f*** you got a great reaction from the crowd, everyone cheered him loudly  But I get why people think it wasn't planned - I was very close to the stage and when Steve first came out and Chris stopped singing he did look genuinely suprised and p'd off - he made me believe that he had no idea Alan was coming on. Maybe he wasn't expecting him to come on until after the song finished...? If that was the case Steve Coogan's a right pr*ck  Otherwise, all credit to Chris's acting ability :P

[10-Dec-2011] Under 1 Roof charity show @ O2 Arena, London, UK
Last night was absolutely incredible!! I had the time of my life, was such a brilliant gig :D Going to do a bit of a rantish review... sorry if I go on a bit  I didn't really know what to expect from this concert because I'd heard they hadn't managed to sell all the tickets and with the guys having played the o2 the previous night as well I thought that a good deal of the most enthusiastic and dedicated fans would have been at the Friday gig rather than this one as it was announced a while before the other one. I only ended up going to Under 1 Roof because I lost out on getting tickets to Friday night and bought standing tickets to this last minute. Not being a proper fan of Tinie Tempah or either of the comedians I wasn't sure what the crowd would be like in comparison to a full Coldplay concert. The last stadium gig I went to was Wembley and after that Exeter which was a surreal experience but completely different to seeing them in an arena where the guys are really most comfortable and in their element. However I was absolutely blown away by the audience... the atmosphere was AMAZING :D Tinie Tempah was a great warm up act, he had the crowd going mental during his set, everyone was raving to his hits. Was so funny when he got us all to crouch down low and then jump up and go crazy  I wouldn't mind seeing him live again actually! This was my first proper MX gig (was at Little Noise with Jonny and Chris a few weeks back). I was lucky enough to get 3rd row on the right side of the walkway (which gave me a great view of a very handsome and very smiley Guy :wacky:). I was even closer at Exeter given the smallness of that gig but this was my first time properly standing and the closest I've been at a stadium concert having had level 1 seating at Wembley. The enthusiasm of the crowd around me was what made the gig really... the people surrounding me were mainly my age or younger so a pretty young standing audience and everyone seemed to know all the lyrics to the new songs - nearly everyone was singing their hearts out to every song and being very enthusiastic. I was with a few true fangirls which was fun since it meant I could join in with the screaming and general craziness... as I am a bit of a not-so-secret Chris and Guy fangirl in particular  Me and my brother managed to get filmed by the camera guy who was shooting the front of the crowd during Yellow. First time that's ever happened to me :D It was really great being with so many real fans of the band - it sort of ruins a gig for me if I'm with people who can't be bothered to stand up or make much noise because I feel like I can't enjoy myself properly! When Will walked onto the runway to go to the B-stage to play Up In Flames people were shouting 'GO WILL' and 'YOU CAN DO IT' :wacky: And when Steve kept taking a dig at Coldplay by saying 'I'm a big fan of rock and roll - and Coldplay' we were booing and when he called Will 'the drummer' and declared nobody knows his name me and several others in front were shouting 'WILLLL. WE LOVE WILL' I hope he heard us from the back hehe :nice: The bracelets work SO well in connecting the audience and getting everyone involved... I got very excited when we got to the front of the gates and saw the bags of them ready to be handed out. When the band came on to MX and they lit up everyone around me was screaming and squeeing in delight and looking around the stadium in awe... so great to see everyone so excited and with massive smiles on their faces... it really is a real spectacle and I saw Guy smiling and looking around in appreciation of it himself a few times. An amazing moment I'm going to remember for a very very long time :D When Hurts Like Heaven kicked in it was just absolutely euphoric :D Having watched all their summer festival gigs I've been so impatient to hear some of the new MX tracks live and they really are built for a stadium crowd. HLH, Charlie and ETIAW are such joyous poppy anthems and the bracelets just add to the whole experience. It was the most I've ever jumped up and down at a Coldplay gig, my legs are so sore today haha. Chris was mental as per usual and made crazy eyes at us in the front several times  He was performing all his ninja jump moves on the walkway and threw his guitar high in the air. You could tell he was kinda shy addressing the whole stadium when he came on to introduce the nights acts alone - bless him. :wacky: It was really really lovely how the founder of Kids Company came on before introducing Coldplay to talk about child poverty and thank everyone for spending their money on a great cause. She thanked Coldplay several times for making the evening possible as it was their idea - the reception they got from the crowd when she asked the audience to show their appreciation was fantastic, I felt so proud and lucky to be there and to be a fan of such a generous, humble and genuine band :nice: Me and the others in the front were really annoyed when Steve Coogan came on and interrupted Christmas Lights! I was really quite sad they didn't get to play the whole song as I was so looking forward to hearing it live! :( I am not a Steve Coogan fan AT ALL :P It was obviously pre-rehearsed but Chris was such a good actor at pretending to be surprised/pissed off that I genuinely believed for a few seconds that he wasn't expecting it. I'm so gullible  The banter that ensued between him and Chris was worth them not finishing it though - very funny and everyone was laughing at Steve teasing Chris about religion and commercialism. Everyone cheered loudly when Chris said f-f-f*** you :laugh3: Rob Brydon's duet with Chris on a White Christmas was great too and had everyone singing along :wacky: All in all a wonderful gig even though I wished they'd stayed longer! I do agree with others that the release of the confetti for In My Place was a little random and the setlist for the two o2 nights could have included a few less greatest hits. I do hope that they are a bit bolder with the setlist for the summer UK stadium tour because as much as I love Yellow and Viva and Fix You etc. and they are a guaranteed great mass sing-along I think that because they insist on playing them at every concert their gigs end up feeling a little like a 'greatest hits' affair and I don't believe for a second that the real fans paying to see them on tour next year wouldn't be happy to hear other songs instead and more MX tracks. I was gutted they didn't play Daylight/What If/or Don't panic but was very happy to hear Up In Flames! Paradise live sounded a million times better than I thought it would - it's not my favourite track on MX by far and I thought I was pretty much sick of it but I love the strong baseline on the live version and it seems to be a real favourite with the crowd - especially the younger new generation of fans. Everyone got very excited when it started and loved singing along to all the Para-Paras  I guess they were there both nights then! I saw on the Friday o2 thread that someone said they were really near Gwyneth and the kids and Phil Harvey and his wife. Chris kept going to the end of the right side of the stage last night and standing on top of the raised bit and I saw him waving to people somewhere high up in the stands several times - Guy kept looking over that way too and grinning but I couldn't see exactly who they were looking at! Pretty sure it was all their friends and family :nice:

The Graham Norton Show
Chris seemed so pissed off about what happened on the show at the Little Noise gig that I'm very intrigued to see what it was that made him upset... he was obviously embrassed but I wonder whether it's just Chris being too critical of himself/taking things too seriously as he has done often before :P He only seemed to be half joking when he told the crowd that if they're real fans they shouldn't watch it. I'm not taking his advice though, I can't wait to watch this tonight
-
Who else is pissed that this didn't make it on the MX track listing?
Interesting that Mr Pritchard confesses to not being a fan of the MX work as a whole but he really likes MTM. I agree with him on the second part - it reminded me a bit of Pink Floyd the first time I heard it and I haven't really listened to them properly :laugh3: I think it's definitely one of the best songs from the era that they've released - it still sounds like Coldplay and has little remnants of Parachutes and X&Y but at the same time it sounds different to anything they've done. Evolved somehow. Plus it's such an atmospheric track. I do wonder what clinched their decision to not include it on the album. I guess like others have already said it's most likely because it didn't 'fit' on the album in terms of the track arrangement and the strict running time. To me it's just as good as Paradise if not better but I think maybe it didn't have as much commercial potential as a single. And it definitely is of better quality and worth than UIF and UFO (in my opinion) - which are both also quieter and more classical Coldplay acoustic tracks. I think it deserves to be on a proper EP rather than just a b-side - I just think it's a bit sad that the boys haven't showcased it within the album because it should have had a proper platform - it's too good not to and I guess Luke describing Chris looking disappointed shows he knows it.

[6-Dec-2011] Radio 2 Gig: Coldplay @ Dingwalls, London, UK (15-Dec-11 Broadcast Date) tickets availa
Does anyone know whether you can only apply once per home address/household? Oh please please let this happen. Getting tickets to this would make the end of my year.

[24-Nov-2011] Little Noise Sessions St John-at-Hackney, London, UK [Chris and Jonny only]
Oh my god... I managed to get 1 standing ticket! I was trying for two but thought that was it because each time I tried it just said the match can't be found. Then I tried several times with 1 and it did the same and then by some miracle I got put through!! So glad I didn't give up :D I failed to get tickets for the o2, this sort of makes up for it! There's the main public sale on Monday, right? So everyone still has a chance!! There will be more tickets then since this is a presale, so. I might try for another then although my Coldplay karma may have run out, haha.

FYI I'm not refreshing anything, I'm waiting with the screen up to refresh at 10 :P But I can't help being nervous when I want tickets so bad, the wait is truly nerve wrecking. And thankyou. ;)

[9-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ O2 Arena, London, UK
I would have attempted to but I wasn't able to get online yesterday morning, otherwise I would have logged on. The pre-sale is supposedly a very limited amount so some of us would have still missed out. I think a lot of us didn't expect it to be so difficult to get tickets this morning either. And I agree with Rox, I've been lucky enough to see the band live 3 times, last time was at their really small Christmas 09 charity gig they did in Exeter which I feel extremely blessed to have gone to seeing as it's a very rare thing to get the chance to see the band in such an intimate setting now they're so very big. So I shouldn't feel too sorry for myself if they don't add another date. There's always the proper MX tour which is bound to be earlyish next year.

[9-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ O2 Arena, London, UK
Exactly, it's just a tout market sold as something it's not :angry::angry: Just signed the petition, hope it's able to get off the ground. Everyone with a twitter/facebook account should be linking it while this is the topic of the day.

[9-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ O2 Arena, London, UK
Agreed. The whole thing is so scummy it makes me so mad. My Dad argues it's the way the free economic market works but I think it should just be stopped. And the way viagogo and stereoboard promote themselves as a 'fan exchange'. Complete load of stinking bull. Yeah, because I'm a REAL FAN I'll go ahead and pay £600 for a ticket.

[9-Dec-2011] Coldplay @ O2 Arena, London, UK
I tried to get 2 standing at 9:30:05 and absolutely nothing.... went back and tried for the tiered seats and again nothing. :( I managed to get through to order 2 standing from Seetickets but I took too long filling in the form and when I got to the confirmation page it said they'd sold out - can't believe they don't hold your tickets for you at all. Just a joke  Something just ain't right here surely? It's hard to believe they'd sell out that fast.... but then again this is the first big UK gig in like two years and everyone was talking about it, Radio 1 ended up advertising the gigs because one of the DJ's couldn't keep his mouth shut  They better add another date or I'll be quite fed up with the band tbh. It's not very fair that so many genuine fans have to loose out. Perhaps it's already a planned thing to add another show on the Saturday. It might be that they'd rather stage the two dates sales. Gotta love the o2  Also I have to be honest, the price of tickets this time has left a bad taste in my mouth. On See tickets the standing tickets were nearly £70!! I mean, with the booking fee the cheapest tickets this time were £50. I got level 1 Wembley tickets for less than that! Don't know whether it's more the band to blame or the venues but it's daylight robbery in my opinion. I know the guys are massive and all but there should be some kind of limit on how much these venues should be able to charge and I don't think £70 bloody pounds is reasonable at all...

[19-Dec-2010] Crisis: Coldplay in Liverpool (ROYAL COURT THEATRE, 1 ROE ST, L1 1HL)
I just found that vid and was wondering about that too! He definitely addresses someone in the crowd and says something to them. The sound quality on that is better than the one uploaded by the roadies - the loudness of the Viva chant crescendo is just... amazing!! I have tingles

[20-Dec-2010] Crisis: Coldplay in Newcastle (JOURNAL TYNE THEATRE, WESTGATE RD)
@ bonus_mosher - Wow. :stunned: Awesome review, I am unbelievably jealous of you, won't deny it!!! Meeting Phil, Jonny and Chris and quite possibly being responsible for giving Mr. Martin the boost he needs to release Wedding Bells as a b-side :D You had one massive dose of Coldplay karma
