  1. butterly link Thanks for that, time_doesnt_matter. I can link to the video, but I can't seem to get past the downloading in order to actually watch it. I'll keep trying.
  2. worse than some of Ontario Southern Ontario dips quite a ways more southerly than any part of Quebec, so parts of it are much more moderate (the Niagara Penninsula and the Windsor area, which is actually south of Detroit). Both provinces extend to about the same northerly latitude, so in the north, they have about the same temp's.
  3. great story ^ What a great story! I'm GREEN with envy. You and your hubby "bookending" Chris and Will, with Guy, Jonny and a few other fans in the middle. I have this dread that if ever I was to meet one of them, I'd freeze up and get all tongue-tied. Have you ever seen the documentary about the Whitehouse (PBS, as I recall) where several ex-Presidents recall that during their term there, people who are otherwise intelligent and brilliantly articulate, often world leaders in whatever field, just go to jelly when they enter the Oval Office? It takes a lot to put me off to that degree and I don't think I'd feel or react that way except for Coldplay. Well, maybe the Dalai Lama. :laugh3:
  4. a long time ago ... I don't recall my age at the time. We hadn't invented numbers yet. But I was lying awake on my wee pile of leaves and brush in our cave when my father came home with new animal skins for all of us. Me and mom made "squeeeeeee" noises and that was how the use of language was started.
  5. Wedding Theme If the home page of the coldplay.com website is any indication, there's a "wedding" theme afoot. Shall we go as brides and grooms? On another subject, I've noticed that after all the planning and with all the means of communication available to this website and the Italian one, there wasn't more coverage of the "choreography" (i.e. yellow shirts, hundreds of yellow glowsticks) I haven't seen any pics from Wembley showing the sea of yellow. It probably happened (I wasn't there) but just didn't get captured much in the pics that got posted here. So if Ian & company can't get noted in R#42's blog of Anchroman's live blog, I'm not too sure we can do so. Accordingly, we may want to adjust our expectations, if not our efforts (when the anticipated date approaches), and do whatever we end up doing just for the fun of it, or with the idea that it would just be a "gift", a gesture of appreciation to Coldplay, given without expectation of anything in return. What do you folks think?
  6. meeting Will Dianne: You've almost certainly told the story somwhere on the forum, but could you tell me (or point me to the post describing) how you got to have your pic taken with Will? Obviously, some unlikely dreams do come true!
  7. happy for Latin America but... I'm really happy for the Latin American fans, but I actually expected they would announce a new date for the postponed Tampa show at the same time. :(
  8. What do you mean "though"? And don't assume that I don't use these awsome powers for many other creative things like world domination. There's no shortage of this brilliance - relax!
  9. Where is their website? YEAH! I'm an Oldplayer! Is there a special forum for us folks? :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: :dance::dance: :whatever:
  10. wedding bells Wait - I've figured it out!:smug: "." (dot) in the email responding to the RSVP email = Five (dot; = Morse Code for letter 'E and , E is FIFTH letter of the alphabet) SO "." is the number of people in the Martin / Paltrow household when the new baby is born NO WAIT ! 'Dot" is short for Dorothy, which is not what they plan to name the baby (regarless of gender). No, "." won't be short for anything - just " . Martin " Of course "." is pronounced "dot" in English. So it'll sound just like "Dot" when you say it, but it's really just "." when you write it. I wonder if s/he will like Prince. (I wonder how 'dot' translates in other languages - hmm - must Google) Maybe not! (puts on thinking cap again) (sigh)
  11. Thanks, Dianne: I checked out the Wikepedia article - WOW! So this is all still a mystery in the series? Will it be explained in time in the series, do you think (if it hasn't already)? I may have to start watcing Lost from the beginning. But it will cut into my Coldplaying time LOL.
  12. 2 mysteries Let's be clear that there are 2 mysteries here now. 1) What is the meaning of the RSVP? 2) What is the meaing of the "dot"? Two possibilities come to mind for a wedding - Jonny and Chloe are finally getting married, OR Guy has found wife #2. A 3rd possibilitiy was mentioned above - that it's about the relase of "Wedding Bells". The dot is (also as suggested earlier) 'E' in morse, 'E' is the FIFTH letter of the alphabet - 5 is the number of the studio album they're working on, and then there's Phil, the band's 5th member ..... The dot could also be a period - THE END! But I don't think so. Seriously, I haven't heard this much anxious and desperate speculalation since the "Paul is Dead" speculation of 1966. I love it! They call us fans (short for fanatics) for a reason!
  13. oh?! Not being a Lost fan, could someone tell me the connection between Lost and 42 ? Thanks!
  14. reminder Just a reminder that CBC TV in Canada is starting season 3 tonight Wed Sept. 30. 2009.
  15. me too :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:
  16. brrr Here in the Ottawa Valley, Canada. today we're expecting a high of 56F. For Thursday night, a low of 29F is forecast. And it's not even October yet! I can't believe that yesterday I said (above) that Canadian winters aren't all that bad. If you were around last spring, you might recall how desperate I was to see green. I start "counting down to green" week by week in mid-January. Still, I can't imagine living anywhere else.
  17. I used to think roughing it was fun and romantic. Now it just feels like work! My idea of camping is actually "cottaging". I do like a shower, hot water, light etc LOL
  18. 42 Starfish: Yeah. I thought of that and that's why I mentioned Douglas Adams, author of "Hitchhiker's Guide...". Guess we'll never really know what the significance was to the contestant. Diane: I'll have to check out the "missing" numbers idea - haven't heard of that before.
  19. $42 Jeopardy wager I confess my addiction to the boob-tube, and I really am getting tired of the cop shows. I do occasionally applaud their tackling current and controversial issues like Gaunatnamo (as on Law & Order season opener). The most exciting thing I've seen this season so far was on Jeopardy during the season's first week, when a thrid place contestant placed a bet in Final Jeopardy. His bet had no strategic meaning within the game, but spoke volumes about him. The bet, was, of course, $42 Alex Trebec asked him the signifcance of it but he wasn't given time to reply. I love that we Coldplayers have this (un)secret "code" by which we can identify each other, AND that we choose to do so when opportunity arises. (Of coure, he could have just been a Douglas Adams fan, I suppose.) I should cut down on my TV time, but the long Ottawa Valley winter is a about to set in and I doubt I'll make that change any time soon. Like work and household chores, TV cuts too much into my Coldplaying time LOL.
  20. I am Canadian Rant I think it's time! THE 'I AM CANADIAN' RANT Hey, I'm not a lumberjack, or a Furtrader, and I don't live in an igloo, or eat blubber or own a dogsled. And I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada, although I'm certain they're really, really nice. I have a prime minister... not a president, I speak English and French, not American and I pronounce it About, not A-boot. I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack, I believe in peacekeeping, not policing, diversity not assimilation, and that the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal. A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it IS pronounced Zed, not Zee... ZED!! Canada is the 2nd largest land mass, the 1st nation of hockey, and the best part of North America. My name is Joe... and...I......AM......CANADIAN! Thank you. edit: Credit: This "rant" is from a Molson Canadian beer commercial. "I am Canadian" was used as their slogan from 1994-98. Read more about the rant, including links to "Anti-Canadianism" at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Am_Canadian
  21. Canada Rocks! We live in the best country in the world!! And I'm quite passionate about it too! W1ll1am: Forgot to say I love your photos as well as your writing. Crests: Who is that in your avi?
  22. I liked the Sarah Connor Chronicles alot too. It kept getting wierder and weirder! I was surprised when at the end of last season they did a fast forward to the future and ended the story. They did the same with Pushing Daisies, which I found delightfully freaky and very funny. So far this season I've seen the premieres for: CSI CSI Miami Law & Order Law & Order CI Law & Order SVU Cold Case also Survivor #? The Amazing Race. Too much time on my hands, clearly. I love this thread!
  23. poems William, I really like your poetry. Very expressive and a pleasantly loose structure - will be great lyrics!
