  2. just wondering Great! What section were you in? I'm surprised to hear that some didn't have such a good time? What was their problem?
  3. great Elbow Interview Thanks for the post! Cool interview. My copy of "The Seldom Seen Kid" arrived yesterday. On to my MP3 player on repeat!
  4. Oh alright. It's a tie. ;)
  5. Question 11 is bogus I made the tough decision not to answer Question 11 (and got called a wimp for it ) becasue it's bogus - not fair adding questions part way through, especially if you didn't create the thread - at least not with the expectation that people will feel obliged to answer!
  6. smart ass :smartass2: I have. I love it. And I hope to again soon. I'll be sure to drop down to Manchester fot tea with you. Are you saying crypticly that the ads are generated randomly, by the fates?
  7. banner ads My banner ad says " Visit Scotland", but it's from a site I visit farily regularly anyway. Probably the banner ads that are displayed are determined by personalized by demographic data for specific IP address being used to access this site? Google Ads work that way. Ian? Your comment please???
  8. well maybe So.....?????????? :smug:
  9. what season is it? posted in wrong thread - oops

  11. What's "MOAR BUTTERFLY" ??
  12. ASSIGNMENT #1: You are told you have to leave immediately for a deserted island for a taping of 'Survivor'. You can only bring five songs by any single artist with you on your MP3 player for entertainment while you are there. What five Coldplay songs would you bring? 1) See You Soon 2) Glass of Water 3) Clocks 4) Daylight 5) Fix You ASSIGNMENT #2 (for girls and some guys): There is a picture shortage, and you are only allowed to see pictures of one of the four Coldplay members for the rest of your life. Who do you choose to look at? Chris ASSIGNMENT #3 Your friend, who has been living under a rock, has no idea who Coldplay are. You can play exactly ONE SONG to convince your friend how utterly fantastic they are. Which do you choose??? Yellow ASSIGNMENT #4 You have to pick one Coldplay single (like, the CD, including b-sides) to listen to the rest of your life; what do you pick? Prospekt's March ASSIGNMENT#5 You must choose 5 Coldplay songs to be destroyed and never listened to again by anyone. What's your 5? VERY TOUGH! 1) We Never Change 2) Twisted Logic 3) White Shadows 4) Low 5) Ode to Deodorant ASSIGNMENT #6 Be honest. What DON'T you like about Coldplay? ("Nothing" does not count as a valid answer for this one and all "nothing"ers shall be spanked with a hot iron rod) They're not Canadian ASSIGNMENT #7: You are part of the first manned mission to Mars and will be gone for many years. You can only take one Coldplay-related piece of memorabilia with you (CD, DVD, book, poster, etc.) What do you take? my Fair Trade, From Africa With Love Bracelets ASSIGNMENT #8 While recording one day, tensions rise and the boys decide to settle their problems the old fashioned way: a free for all cage match. If you were placing bets who would you choose? Will - no question ASSIGNMENT #9: You are drinking with Coldplay. Who can you out drink and who will be the last man standing? When I used to drink: all of them / me Now: None of them / Guy ASSIGNMENT #10: Chris, Jonny, Guy, and Will all simultaneously propose to you at the same time. Which one do you say yes to?(Note:you may not become a mormon or move to a country where multiple spouses are permitted. And yes, even the guys must answer this question) Chris - what has he been waiting for!??
  13. keep 'em coming! If I ever had that thought, I'd see a doctor quick! Thanks for the great ideas so far, people. Keep'em coming! As I said above, we're just brainstorming for now - throwing any and all ideas on the table. What's pretty clear is that we can't get too specifc about plans as we have no idea what the boys will be doing next or when. The next albumn's theme may determine our plans and hopefully generate some new ideas related to it, but who knows when that will materialize? We're in for a long haul here. Hang in and post your ideas here as they come to you.
  14. viruses Viruses (viri?) LOVE warm! The reason people generally get more colds and flu in the colder months is because people gather in more confined spaces then, and viruses are more easily spread. The H1N1 virus, for example, is doing quite well for itelf this summer, but expected to be very wide-spread staring in September, when school resumes for most.
  15. Yes, I've read everything she wrote, I think, but it's been many years. Of course her epic is Atlas Shrugged - a really gripping and exciting story centred on a woman who is VP of a large railroad when the great minds of the world go "on strike". She is known as the 20th century's greatest apologist for capitalism. Her passion for individual excellence is extreme. She escaped communist Ruswsia under Stalin and she loathes collectivism. Her philosophy is called "Objectivism". Discovering her work was a major turning point in my thinking about social issues, but not an easy one. More than once, while reading Atlas Shrugged, I literally pitched the book, angrily rejecting what she had been saying. But she weaves her stories brilliantly and I had to finish reading, and, as I said, went on to read everything she wrote. Any Ayn Rand novel is very challenging emotionally and intellectually, and not for everyone. Definitely not a light summer read! And her opinions should be seriously questioned by the reader. She celebrates "justified" violence and her views on women's sexuality are pre-1960's. She's a great and deliberate story teller, but not someone who can be thought of warmly. Handle with care. All just my opinion, of course.
  16. old thread - new life When I made my 1st post on this thread 2 days ago, I didn't realize it had been dead for nearly 6 years! Ah, the circle of life!

  18. torn I only became a fan with Viva, but have grown to love their early work too. I saw them live 10 days ago for the first time. Since then, I've re-watched the Live 2003 DVD a couple of times. The difference between the show then and now is staggering. I used to think the DVD showed massive audiences and a complex show, but the current tour is much, much bigger and showier. I have no compaints about either - love the music of both eras. But I think we'd be disappointed if they didn't evolve steadily. One of the big things I love about them is that they are constantly seeking to learn and expand and improve and be the best they can be. I can hardly wait to see what they do next! Just because I'm tearing, doesn't mean I'm torn. :embarassed:
